  1. Nice fit Ayn. I'd like to have a pair too :)

I have a pair of old second-hand 1106 which have been my travelling pants, but seems like they've come to the end of the road. Denim is really nice for warm weather.

  2. post soak fit pictures

inseam hardly shrunk at all for some reason after a three hr hot soak, everywhere else shrunk a 1/4 to 1/2 inch, stiff pretty rough but a bit more plyable, im just stoked i can finally go commando again since my jims got too loose a while ago, enjoy.

Shiiiit... 19oz Samurai with decent cut. I've been away for three months and now my wishes have become true. Shopping time. :)

  3. Thanks for the compliments. One of the reasons why I could go down even half a size more is because that commando sole is only available at one width which is quite wide. At US sizing my width would be 'D'.

Those AF64's are stunning, especially if used as a hiking boot -Style int the trail... :)

    How much they are? Alot...

  4. Well, I am still torn. Those photos from thelion1856 show a truly excellent boot for serious use. These are no wannabe poseur boots! Great photos! Thanks, Lion.

After losing a very spirited E-prey bidding on a pair of NIB Malton’s in my size last night, I wrote to Adam at Alden about the AF64 Indys. He responded immediately. I was a bit surprised that he really did suggest stepping down a size (even more than I would have). I’m a perfect UK10, but right on the line between a US10.5 and 11, depending on maker. Sizing down in my brain means the US10.5. I gave him measurements, and he suggested a US10 for me in the AF64. BUT, he has NONE in my size. The wait will be 5 months!!! Drat. For a dress shoe, I could easily wait, but I need a tromping boot much sooner.

    Sigh. Such is my luck.

    Just for note that I'm US10 - 10.5 and in Tricker's I'm UK8.5, could be even 8.

  5. Moykky, are you happy with your Malton boots? How have they broken in?

Yeah, I'm very happy. I have the ones with commando sole (if I didn't mention that before). It took about one month to broke them in, I walk about 5 miles to classes and back every weekday. When I polished them with Kiwi 'light tan' they softened quite much ( I didn't polish them for first month..) more.

The construction is so good compared to 'modern' shoes. For example when I'm walking downhill with my laces open, with normal shoes it hurts my toes when they hit the front of the shoe but with these, my toes just smoothly compress from sides... uuh... few too many drinks. I will post some pictures tomorrow if I can.

And ofcourse I have to give my vote to Maltons over Alden Indy's. They are quite different, but malton's just have some... elegance in them. I want the Tricker's jodhpur boots also!

  6. Selvage denim is just good material to make jeans (and some other clothes) but then again it's just...denim. I couldn't care less if all the jeans were made from selvage denim. Selvage denim itself can be shit or the cut can be shit.

I get really annoyed when people are talking about potatoes. Here in Finland potatoes are same as rice in japan. We have all kinds of different ones and some ignorant foreigners treat them all the same :(

  7. i've been looking for one wash sd103s as well, and i haven't been able to find them anywhere on rakuten or elsewhere besides bears, who unfortunately doesn't ship to the US. can anyone confirm that bears is washing the raw sd103s and selling them, or can you get sd103s in a one wash somewhere else?

Why don't you buy them raw? You can wash them once yourself if you like...

  8. Will send you some pics of the wallet - it's the smallest one they make - size of a cigarette box - holds like a CC and a drivers license plus some bills....:) Bought it for 90$ - and yes - it was worth it !!

Heyyy, where did you get it with 90$? :)

  9. I was in exhibition today, it was the life work of Eero Saarinen in retrospect, famous Finnish architect. There was this one award winning documentary about building the Gateway arch in St. Louis "MONUMENT TO THE DREAM" (by Charles Guggenheim). I couldn't help noticing that every other worker in the project had Redwings (early 1960's) on their feet...

  10. You could get, you know, a debit card.

Yeah, you can use it as credit card but you don't have any credit. You have to have balance in your debit card account.

I leave for four months and when I'm back I hope there's 5507xx 6x6 in 36 length and button fly! :)

  11. This begs the question. How "modern" does it have to be to no longer be a repro? Are the SDA bootcuts repros of 517s? Are most 5 pocket jeans of any brand Levis repros because the back pocket shape is generally in the Levis shape, the coin pocket is nearly always the Levis style, as are the placement and number of belt loops? And Levis has been around so long that they've made bootcuts. flares, tapered jeans, cinch-back loose straightcuts, etc... so that pretty much any pair of jeans looks *somewhat* like some pair of Levis...

Thats true. Repro at it's purest form should be identical to the final detail, but much better. Like buzz rickson does.

Nashville is 501 like, with same style "curved" waist, details and cut.

  12. The SD 103s fit exactly the same as Edwin Nashvilles. I would not call them slim. I have athletic thighs and the Nashvilles have still quite a bit of room. In fact RRDS and 5ep Bootcut has thighter thighs than the nashvilles. Slim is what i call PBJ 005 or Nudie Slim Jims.

I would call the Nashvilles, SD103s and Eternal 811 as modern versions of 501 1947s.

Hmm, my nashvilles are quite a bit slimmer than my sda-103's, though I agree with the modern 501 repro.

  13. so i'm thinking i may have to wash my sammies already because they are covered in cement!! I hot soaked for about 3 hours already does anyone think they will shrink anymore??

I think they do. For me it's taken usually at least three hot "washes" in the machine for maximum shrinkage.

  14. check this out from the LOBB auction:

This is the type of nonsense sellers have to put up with. I got this in my Ebay mail system this morning. How is it that amerikajinda( 4)

can be allowed to continue to trade on Ebay? This guy is registered in VA, home of many of our proud military, and he hates a Marine this much that he would wish him dead by a roadside bomb? Please join me in asking that Ebay permanently bar this person from ever trading on Ebay again. To all you Marines that buy from me, pass this on to your fellow Marines and demand that this guy be punished. Semper Fi!

I don't actually know should I laugh or cry... Should they send some marines to take care of that 'amerikajinda'? :)
