  1. i love burton jackets. the Ronin collection as at least 2 gore-tex jacket and they look really good and the AK one are also quite stylish, if more traditionnal. if you want to save some more, either buy on the internet or go to the states. with the value of the canadian dollar right now, you're looking at a 100-200$ saving on the jacket.

forgot to mention, Moutain equipment coop has some probably the cheapest jacket. the same, or almost, the same quality as the best jacket, but much cheaper.

  2. depends on if you want a swedish keyboard or not, I suspect that they have "åäö" on the macbooks that are being shipped to Sweden from apple, and probably not on the ones they send to portugal

it can be a minor problem, but more for people who use you computer than for you. you don't really look at the keyboard when you're typing so as long as you know where the right keys are (it probably takes half a day to remember), it doesn't matter that it's not a swedish keyboard. my computer has an english keyboard, but i use the french one in windows and it has never bothered me. sure when people borrow my computer they ask where the accent are (à é etc), but then, they are exactly at the same place as on their computer, it's just written something else on my keys.

  3. it's hard in sweden : <

if you want to save some money, try to buy your laptop outside of sweden cause it's stupidly expensive over there compare to other countries in europe. as you go south, it gets cheaper. i would say that the same laptop would be almost half price in portugal. if you have some friends or familly living somewhere else in europe, have them check the prices where they live, you might be able to save quite a lot.

i have tons of friends who bought their computer in Spain cause it was so much cheaper so i would really recommend doing that.

  4. what kind of outdoorwear you want? if you want technical stuff (arc teryx, marmot etc) go to this place called La Cordée on st-catherine just passed the Jacques-Cartier bridge. probably the best in Montreal. there are others similar stores, one at Quartier Latin, but it changed name i just came back to montreal yesterday from a year in japan so i don't really know. if you are looking for snowboard gear, try Empire on St-antoine. if you are only looking for regular jackets and stuff, just go to st-laurent street or st-catherine.

winter stuff won't be out in stores before late september, october though...

don't hesitate if you have more montreal questions

  5. So there is no "real" porn in Japan?

there's a lot of porn that is uncensored for the oversea market. i'd say most of the stuff you download on bit torrent or emule is not censored. anyway, the mosaik barelly covers anything so it's not like the old one where they had this huge black box.

on a totally irrevalent subject, been back home for less than 24 hours and i already miss japan (and those girls, even though most of them are not japanese....)

  6. i really respect the "salarymen" in full suit and tie. that's dedication.

me too, last saturday, i had a formal party so i had to wear a suit, i thought i would die, don't remember sweating that much. and it wasn't that hot (compare to really hot days here).

  7. Some Smith's are very nice IMO too. It really depends, again, what you are using them for. You may consider Rudy Projects too.

for sports, Smith makes some of the best sunglasses you can find. been mountain biking for a while and always used some Smith glasses, always be really satisfied. the quality of the lenses is pretty good and i really like the glasses where you can switch the lenses from dark, orange and yellow (really practical is you are biking for a while and don't want to bring more than a pair). only problem is that they're not the most stylish glasses around. i guess it all depends on what you would use them for. i don't really wear mine if i'm not doing any sports, i have some aviator Von Zipper that i quite like. and i doubt the quality of a pair of 1000$ Louis Vutton sunglasses is much better (i admit i wouldn't mind owning a pair though, some of them are pretty nice, but let's say that i will have to earn much more money before i spend that much on some glasses).

if you want to break the bank, Chrome Hea sunglasses are the nicest thing you can own IMO.

  8. i'm in Tokyo this summer, 30-35+ weather with 90+ % humidity, there's is no way in hell i will rock jeans. i'm often close to the point of passing out (seriously) wearing shorts and t-shirts so wearing jeans would be suicide (Canadians are not made for that kind of weather). i see plenty of people doing it though, i really respect those...

  9. don't know if that will help you but i only use japanese spf 135 sunblock lotion. i hate getting sunburn like nothing else so for me this is the shit. don't think it's available outside of japan though...

  10. that game was pretty disturbing. but much worse was the yesterday's between Australia and Italy. the Italian have managed to make me angry again with all they play-acting and diving. the last minute penalty was a joke, The Italians are such a bunch of cheaters, there must not be a word for fair-play or sportsmanship in italian, crazy... for the record, i also thought the red card was too harsh...

  11. Hah...I sorta do something like that...I wake up at like 7am then watch World cup then sleep for a few hours usually after the matches are done then I stay up till about 3am or so. I gotta stop this shit though...I am so fucking tired in the day and I too awake during the night.

i'm in japan right now and the world cup is killing me. i usually stay awake till the last game so i go to bed around 6:30 and have to wake up like 2 hours after for class. then i nap in the afternoon and go out again at night for world cup watching and drinking. i don't think i'm averaging more than like 5 or 6 hours a night since it started, i'm fucking tired.

  12. i picked up a pair of white cheap mondays a couple weeks ago. haven't had a chance to wear them yet...waiting for the right "moment". g/f doesn't like them at ALL! she keeps making comments about axl rose!

first thing i thought about when i started reading this thread was Axl Rose...

not sure i would put it myself, but i have seen some pretty nice white jeans though. like others have said before, make sure to have a dark top and shoes.

  13. i'm at rutgers new brunswick

how'd you end up schooling all over the world?

is it tough to make arrangements?

cmf 18 grand a year is out of control

if not for tuition i could live off half that

actually, just took advantage of exchange programs i could get at my school. since i studied in canada, my tuition was a joke (a little less than 2 grand a year) so i didn't think twice about doing a double major in order to be able to spend a year in Tokyo. your school probably have some exchange program, i highly advise to take advantage of them. although i ended up spending a lot of money going abroad so much (i probably choose the 2 most expensive countries in the world, damm me...) it was so worth it.

  14. as far as i know, the US is pretty much the only place in the world where drinking age is 21. although i don't know for sure, i would be really really surprised if you would get carded in China and i ever you do, i'm 100% a little bribe would get you in.

Yeah I have read about those shops in this forum. I don't think I will be going to Japan any time soon though. I would love to go when I have time, and money ofcourse. It's damn expensive to go there. From Australia, it costs around AU$1500 for a plane ticket to Japan. It would awesome though, just shop and eat, haha.

kinf of off topic, but you can find a ticket to japan for much cheaper than that. a round trip ticket to autralia can be bought from japan from maybe 500 to 600 $AUS. and japan is not what i would call a cheap country.

on a separate note, those jeans looks pretty awesome.
