  1. oh shit...I thought it was a 5-to-1 ratio

    ;)

The last orange tab is in the LVC catalogs thread - from 2009 or 2010. It included quite a few girls' jeans. I bought the mrs a dress from the sample sale, too (I'm not totally selfish - three for me, one for her is in proportion, right?)
  2. there's also the 606...which I think is a straight-leg orange tab that was marketed to women.

good idea, but she wants a straight leg... she's got a fairly feminine shape, so i'm not sure if blokes jeans would work either.

could be they're a few seasons old? i've occasionally seen stuff from last year and the year before for sale in webstores. orange tab anyway, i don't think they still make an OT in the general levis range do they?

  3. if your wife is interested in a 60s flare, go on ebay and look for a pair of deadstock 646s. That's what my wife wears pretty much exclusively.

As far as I know, LVC hasn't put out a women's line in a couple years (that changes this fall), so I'm not sure what the offering from YOOX is.

My wife also rocks some '47s from time to time...looks good.

trying to steer the wife in the direction of some decent denim... anyone got any thoughts on the LVC women's stuff? these seem to be well priced as a cheapish way in, but there's hardly any info about them...
  4. I can see where one might consider the criticism "nitpicking," but I stand by it, and the gist of my reasoning has been expressed in the last few posts.

The t's I saw this weekend were $85. They were the white pocket t's, made in the USA. For that amount of money for one single plain white t-shirt I expect them to produce a shirt that has tubular construction. Not only is it historically more accurate, but it makes a better-quality product, and it cannot be that hard to make. You can get a 3-pack of US-made cotton undershirts with tubular construction for $6. The first thing I think of when I see a t-shirt with a side-seam is a crappy, ill-fitting AA t-shirt.

I'm not criticizing to be a pain in the ass, I'm expressing disappointment because I consider myself a fan of LVC and respect and admire what they do...most of the time.

  5. One thing that really gets my goat on the newer LVC t's...they have a side seam...no tubular body construction like they should have.

    My new tee:

1940's tee. It's incredible soft, perfect finished...

...and true to the historical details. Note the smaller sportswear label.
