  1. what is less slimmer in comparative sizes.. somet straights or pbj 005s?

what do you mean by comparative sizes?

Somet straights are slimmer than PBJ 005s in equal sizes. So that means if youre accomodating for sizing down, the Somets are considerably slimmer.

  2. Wow, this is like getting married, only more important. I've read this thread at least 6 times, and I went through the Carl vs. airfrog battles, but I'm still not sure. After spending the day looking at all of the review sites I was almost ready to order the XTi. But after a field trip to Best Buy I held the XTi and the D80, that was an eye opener. The XTi is tiny, it didn't feel very good in my hands, the D80 though just felt right. Of course that was from 45 minutes of holding both and looking through the viewfinder. Maybe the XTi would grow on me, but so will mold if you sit still long enough.

Dude, the D80 is miles ahead of the XTi in terms of build quality and usability, and the kit lens 18-55 beats Canon's kit lens around like a red-headed stepchild.

If the choice is D80 vs. 30D, that's more of an on-the-fence deal, but D80 vs. XTi, there is no need to think twice. The image quality is identical. You can split hairs all you want but I've seen side by side comparisons and they're identical, even at ISOs up to 1600.

What matters is how the camera functions work, the exposure meter, the viewfinder, the menu system, the button placements, the comfort factor..

The D200 is king under $2k, and the D40 is a great, cheaper alternative, but if you're between those two price points, D80 is a no-brainer.

Fuck all this camera talk anyway. What matters are the pictures. I crack up everytime I see a horrible WAYWT post taken with a Rebel or a D70 or better. What's the point of dropping $600+ for a DSLR when all you do is take blurry pictures in front of a mirror that are exposed like a pile of moldy shit?

Get the camera that you feel more comfortable shooting with, then completely disregard any talk about camera bodies and lenses until you're ready to drop $800+ for a new lens that will last you for many years. And take some fucking pictures that don't include the camera in the shot. Camera fetishism is the stupidest fucking part of photography that I've ever come across.

  3. My buddy got a pair recently. He is very in love with them. He says they give him bulges in all the right areas (He's gay).

Nice qualifier (he's gay). That is a sick tattoo that I can see. I was thinking of getting the exact same thing on my arm (I got the idea from Cedric Bixler, from ATDI NOT FROM MV [fuck MV])

  4. Just wondering... what's the dilio with active endeavors?^^^

I was pretty pissed because I bought a pair of jeans from them that still had the security tag attached, then sold them to Poly800rock without ever knowing, caused him trouble.

That, and they've made thousands upon thousands off of links from Styleforum and never paid us the fee for getting a link up.

  5. Mine are a bit too big (meaning not snug like I like them) and I wear them with a belt so they don't stretch. They are very compact denim, so I doubt they will stretch very much.

Serge, yours fit perfectly. I bought a pair hoping to achieve the same fit you did. Hopefully I will not be disappointed. Should be arriving in a few days. It's been almost 7 or 8 months since I've bought a new pair of jeans, so I'm way too excited.

  6. IMO they should just do a case-by-case thing. Hem those which aren't too much trouble, hem anyone's who buys them at the store, and take the 5EPs and other felled inseams when they have extra time...

And don't hem APCs at all. APCs don't even have a chainstitched hem in the first place.

  7. right, you'd say "california is like a cultural, like, wasteland, like, polka-like-dotted with, like, pockets of like, integrality, and the northwest is like, hella full of granola-muching self-important like, dudes that a dirty spic from new york city like, just wouldn't understand. i so like, need to like, drive down the block to like, get a bottle of water."

    Pretty close dude.

  8. east coast 'til i die.

california is like a cultural wasteland polka-dotted with pockets of integrity, and

the northwest is full of granola-muching self-important white folks that a gritty

hispanic from new york city like myself just doesn't understand. black bloc, blah blah...

I'll take west coast because people don't talk like that over here.

  9. The real difference in shaving generally comes from the brush, not the straight razor. I myself cannot get into the straight razor game. I like cartridges. But using a fine badger brush makes a huge difference in the closeness of shaving.

  10. Wouldn't you rather just spend the $600 on men's stuff that fits you well? You could fit into some of those jackets I'm sure, but the question for me would be if its worth it to put so much money into something that will probably be wearable only in some situations. I just think there is a lot better clothing to be buying than gambling with women's clothing.

  11. i've always thought Rag & Bone was very underrated. All their shit is handmade in USA right?

Yea. I agree. Their outerwear and shirts are really fine stuff, and without a doubt underrated. One of my favorite items is a Rag&Bone lightweight cotton jacket - the fit is amazing. You can tell that they really do know the male physique, without being overtly sexual, nor unflattering.

This is the first Rag&Bone season without Nathan Bogle, afaik. It's a very strong one.

  12. yeah, I believe you, I didn't talk to those brands at all. I guess my reply was a bit unspecific, but from what I hear some brands might not change their japanese models, but I don't have a lot of information either so I could definitely be wrong about this too.

Well if some smaller Japanese companies aren't on the laundry list of people getting sued, why stop? I can't tell me who told me that, but someone did. A source.

  13. i still have apple stock, let's see if everyone shorts it tomorrow.

how big is this phone? GB for MP3's?

4 or 8 gb. That's balls for me man, I have my 40g filled up and I hate having to take shit out so I can put new shit in. Gonna have to cycle every day on an 8 gb drive

  14. This is the only thing that really pisses me off. As someone who makes websites and is easing intro the mobile transition, it's already enough of a pain in the ass to design for Opera on phones but now dealing with Safari's fucked version of standards... this is gonna be painful.

Sounds like there should be no reason why Opera wouldn't work on it. It has OS X. I'm hopeful, but I'm in the shallow end of a 2 year contract with Verizon right now. Maybe the 2nd gen.
