I just ordered the 220a xx offset in 33x30 from Bears. Never tried STF before so excited and nervous in equal measures. I hope they don't shrink beyond 30inches... Maybe I should have played it safe and got 32 lenght but hemming is a real pain (no chain stitching near me so need to post them out) and I really prefer a no cuff or very thin cuff. I've asked Bears to confirm measurements so hopefully that should help. They're always super helpful

So yours only shrank 3 cm :S well according to Bears measurements. Guess there is variance though

I think I'm going to go with the DENIME Lot.220A OFFSET XX model but now I'm not too sure about sizing. Bears says it shrinks 6cm in waist and lenght but can see other sites are saying less. My perfect waist is 41 to 42 cm measured flat. Should I go for the 32 inch which is 85cm or 33inch which is 88cm? Also inseam wise i like a 30 inch so assume i should go for that as looks like full shrinkage in lenght is just under 31 inches?

Do you know if this would have used cone mill? Or is it denim made in Turkey?
-
@Maynard Friedman Ah interesting. Thanks for the info. They seem hardly worn though and we're pretty cheap so thought I'd give them a shot. Hopefully they still fade similar to other 47s I've seen in here...might need to hem though
-
I picked up a pair of used 47s from Ebay. I've never had LVC before. These ones are made in Turkey so sadly not USA or Japan. I'm a bit confused though as I though all LVC were STF but this measures exactly 34 inches inseam. Were these originally maybe a one-wash then or are they oversized and have shrank to their described label? I believe these are from 2013. They are VERY stretchy too that I had to double check they are 100% cotton...nice leg twist too

Out of interest what is it you like so much about the fabric?

Those jeans are fantastic. Great fit

Hello! I'm looking at the Denime products on Bears website. I've not had any Denime before. I see that it seems to go up to 15.9oz after washing. That's quite heavy for me as usual don't go beyond 14. Do they feel heavy? Are they still comfortable? Is this across all fabrics? I'm also unsure between the 220A fabric, 220xx, 224 Ishikawadai Denim. It seems that the 220A is a favourite on here? Any particular reason? Also the 6 cm waist and lenght shrinkage on Bears. Is that accurate? Does it continue to shrink more than that after more washes or is 6cm the max? Thanks for the help

Will need to see some pics of those! I've committed far too much wear to my 714s to give up on them now.

I love how my 710s faded too but just found them too slim after a while. Shame

What i write her seems to be verging on sacrilege BUT is anyone else not that impressed by how their 714 / 711s are fading? Basically I thought my wife had my 714s but turned out it was her M&S mom jeans (made in Egypt 1% elastine). They look VERY similar in colour and fading right now. I was kind of feeling a bit meh about the texture and colour anyway and when I saw they looked almost identical to standard high street pair that go for £25 I'm kind of like 'huh?!' Maybe my 714s are in that awkward phase and need to fade more. Just an observation. Lol absolutely no shade thrown at M&S jeans or elastine whatever but just didn't expect them to look very similar to a much higher quality pair. Maybe says more about M&S denim. Aware as well there is more to the pair than the colour and fading and the craftsmanship ect is still on another level. Anyway here's a couple of comparison photos 😂

Wearing old stuff today. Jacket is GAP 20 years old next year. Jeez that makes me feel old too... Jeans are vintage Lee made in US from I believe 1995 from care tag. Not worn these much since I got them last year. They have a kind of woolly texture. Best way I can explain it. Close up pic to show. Also pretty thick I'm guess at least 15oz but I'm no expert. Really like the back pockets placement. Hat - H&M Jumper - M&S Shoes - Cons

Thought I'd post an updated fit of my 0105w seeing as I got the 32. I've washed and dried on high to shrink the inseam a couple of times but think at most I lost half an inch. Was thinking about getting them hemmed but the double cuff is growing on me. Loving the colour of the indigo now. Looks very saturated. It's great being able to wash and dry as normal and not worry that they will get too slim. The waist stretches back to the point i need a belt. Very comfortable. I'm stoked!

It's such a great fit. The raw denim looks great with the formal trousers in the same colour
-
Is there any good examples of how the banner denim for Denime fades? The 10% brown cotton blend sounds interesting

My 0105s in 32 have arrived from Japan just now. 5 days to the UK. Pretty damn fast and great customer service from FC who were able to pick a pair out for me and let me know the waist measurement before shipping. These fit ALOT more comfortably in the waist than the 31s (which I seemed to be unlucky with and they were undersized) Will be giving them a good 40 wash first to get rid of most of the shrinkage. Looking forward to wearing these a lot. Their standard 13.7oz is so comfortable from the start. Not sure what other brand can really compare in that department.
-
They are pretty tight. They measured 37 cm across when they arrived (size guide had them as 40) and they've now stretched to 39. I was hoping to start around 40 and stretch them to around 42 so don't think it's gonna happen. I compared measurements between the TCB 50s and FCs just there and 50s are slightly bigger everywhere apart from the rise. Funny as from the photos I feel FCs look significantly wider.
-
Thought I'd post my size 34s 50s now they're dry after their soak. Honestly I'm not 100% sure. I guess due to how 'crispy' they still are they aren't drapping how they eventually will look. In comparison fullcount 0105w 31s seem to just look better but then they are much softer. 31 in the FC's waist is too tight so I'm considering getting a 32 in those or sticking with these TCB 50s Thoughts?
-
So my 34 50s have arrived from TCB Japan today. Hemmed perfectly and i like how they sent the cut offs which will be handy for any repairs. They measure 40cm across. Which is 1cm less than the size chart but fair enough I can live with that. One thing that's surprised me with the denim is how stiff and starchy they seem. Cardboard like. I guess because they are Zimbabwean cotton I had expected them to be very similar to my 13.7oz 0105w fullcounts. The FCs are noticeably softer and stretchier new than these TCB 50s. So do the TCBs just take a bit more wearing and maybe a soak to become more relaxed in the waist and less stiff? Elsewhere I like the fit. The rise could be a tad looser but again hoping with wear things will expand?
-
So plot twist i pulled the trigger on the 34. I measured my waist again and largest measurement was actually 88 cm. I have a pair of old Levis that measure 43 cm across like the tcb 36s and I was constantly hiking them up today. I think the 34 will allow me to wear them without a belt but still be comfortable. Fingers crossed
-
Appreciate the replies! I measured my waist and smallest measurement is 89cm and largest measurement is 90cm. The 36 on TCB's website has the 36 as 91cm around and 34 as 86cm so I think seems safer to go with the 36
