The sleeves are long enough for me. Should be ok if it shrinks a bit.
I am already thinking about my next pair..I want something rock and roll next.. seeing American Graffiti again after so long really rubbed off on me.
Whats the best fit out of these?1947
1954z
1955
also, is the 54z the same fit as the 47?

just re-watched American Graffiti.. been a long time.
great looking pair of Levi's here. considering this was made in 72-73 and set in 1962, do you suppose he is wearing deadstock 1962's..
anyone?

How many inches did the your 1976s shrink in the length?
I forgot to measure them.. but the cone ones lost their cuffs entirely, these have 2 inches of cuff. Both were a 34 leg.

got my jeans back from the alterations place in town. much better.
These bulgarian ones are very blue compared to the Cone ones. I remember those ones bled in the bath much more. they were much stiffer too, like cardboard.
these have that rigid feel, but more like my sanforized Lee 101z's.
with the 50% I'm going to get that 60s blue/white casual stripe t shirt. I feel like I should maybe get another pair of jeans as they are half price.. thing is I was thinking of the 1947 or 1955 next, and those aren't budging in price on the uk site.

I decided to take the 76's in, that hip flare was bugging me too much. I'll get them back on friday..
in the meantime here are my 1890's Levi's waist overalls..(cone)
after one month
today, after 88 days wear
a watch pocket fade I made with a "pocket watch" just an old mechanical watch that doesn't good time with no strap I had laying about.
my idea with these jeans was to try and replicate the original calico miners jeans. I've done gardening in them, trimmed hedges in them, got on my hands and knees in them.. but to be honest I spend a lot of my time sitting in them. they are pretty tough to fade, I don't think they will be washed for a looooooooooong time.

I would not stress about length as much as the fact they make your hips look like a girl.
That is serious hip flair.
might have to get them tailored. my tailor did an amazing job last time. I'll see what happens. they might change.

yes, they do. I forget the actual wording.. I'll let you know/ show the tag once I get them off. they are drying on me as I type this.
I am very pleased with them.. I wanted a 36 leg because the W28 cones shrank so much in the leg that I couldn't cuff them. 34 was the longest I could get.
They are cuffed right now. about 80% dry.

Well, I had already paid full price for those 1890s.. if they had not been so generous I would have thought twice about buying from them again. I can't fault them at all. I wondered if those 28's would stretch back out, but I didn't want to risk weeks of discomfort to test that theory. I made the right decision anyway, the 30s are much better. I have tried them on and they feel miles better.
for those wondering if they can see any differences with the new Bulgarian 76's, here are the raw fit pics:
shrinking day is tomorrow.

Hi all. been stalking this thread since last summer.
I had a non raw pair of Levis "premium" jeans with big E, in a W30 L30, my usual size. then immediately after getting this pair, I got into raw denim. this W30 I felt was too big
my first pair was an 1890 501 in a W30 L34. I chose W30 because I expected it to shrink to a W28, which was what I was guessing my size must be, because of the other big levi's.These jeans didn't shrink all that much.
next, after deciding I like the 1976 501, I decide to get this in a W28 L34. (cone denim) and this is what I came here to talk about. this is what happened.

post tub shrink pics
these shrank wayyyyyyy more than the 1890s. first thing I learned; later denim shrinks a hell of a lot more and is a hell of a lot more heavy and rigid. these were like carboard, were too tight, hurt my balls. I had to return them. and yes, Levi's were kind enough to refund me even after I shrank them.
afterwards I figured maybe I needed a 29W. but there was no size to be found, there was a W30 which I thought would be too big, becuase of my older pair.
then I acquired a Lee 101Z 1948 13oz japanese denim in a 29W. guess what.. the waist is huge.. but as these were an ebay steal, I decided to get them altered. they are now PERFECT.
I kept looking out for more 1976 stock in a 29W.. and I kept waiting.. until I decided to get a W30 L34 pair, because there were in the christmas sale. they are the new bulgarian ones. how will they compare? stay tuned..

those 76's are exactly like mine.
I've seen those pictures of raw cones standing up after being soaked/shrank and they can stand up on their own. my cone 76's were almost like that. I took them off and they were still in the moulded shape of me. impressive. and they shrank a LOT.
these new ones are nowhere near as cardboardy. they are ok I suppose.. Time will tell how well they age and develop, that's the real test.
how do you find them compared to the cones?
