  1. Just get the 1955s. You will not regret it. I pulled the trigger and shrank them and I love their bold, boxy fit.

they are cone and I somehow ended up with these 4 inch cuffs, adding to the whole effect.

  2. “Keep the time apart as brief as possible.....”

What does this mean.. are they saying they won’t fade as well if you stop wearing them? Or are they saying the creases I have set into the jeans undo themselves after a while?

this was weighing heavy on my mind, now I have 4 pairs I’m currently wearing in equal rotation, and 2 yet to shrink. My other 3 are just starting to develop some nice baby fades. Maybe I had better just hold on to my other 2 pairs for a while.

  3. Well its going to be 18°-19° today (65°f).. The government is pleading with people to stay home, they know what Brits are like the minute the sun appears.

its perfect weather for tub shrinking jeans so I will be starting on my 1947s.

tag from my older pair of 1955s. I agree with it mostly, I disagree with the waist sizing and soak time.. but nice to have

  4. Years from now, when my current stock of jeans are getting old, I will buy the bulgarian ones.

yes, I did source cone pairs of 1947 and 1955.. but I may as well, because right now if you have a little patience, you can still find them for reasonable prices, I don’t want to pay £180 for bulgarian ones if i can get cones for only £20 more..

    Don’t give up on LVC.

Someone will post a pic of some cool fades with the bulgarian ones (I have yet to see one yet) and the heritage of the brand will live on. Lee has been Kaihara for god knows how long, and I love my Lee’s.

  5. People prefer Cone because they know what they are getting.. The Bulgarian ones just need to prove themselves. my 1976's are 30 days in now and have started to show some good progress, nothing worth showing yet.

so here is my Lee 101z no. 49 (13 dips), Kaihara denim.

these have racked up 95 days of wear and right now are starting to look more beautiful every day, nice bits of blue starting to come out.

    score!

    Levi's tally:

    1890 (cone) ----- 1947 (cone) ----- 1955 (cone) ----- 1966 (Kaihara)----- 1976 (Kaihara)

    other:

Lee 101z (Rebel Without a Cause jeans) (Kaihara)

  7. those new bulg 1955 pictures are courtesy of a nice chap from the Australian Levi's website. I ended on there by accident. anyway they have this cool "chat to a stylist" feature where you can ask questions. so I asked them if they were going to be getting some new photos on the site because all the pictures are still showing the Cones.. and we like to see what we are buying, right?

so he tells me he just got in a pair of the new 55s and he sends me this massive PNG file which was too big to put on imagebam (hence the screenshots at different zoom levels)..

by the way.. when shrinking jeans is it best to have them un cuffed, or cuffed? I sit in the bath with them uncuffed, but with the 76's I cuffed them to not get indigo all over the carpet. I don't know if that had any factor in how they shrank.

  8. The raw fit of those 28 waist cone 76s was so tight I couldn’t even tuck a t shirt in. And even after they were too tight, I questioned whether I had made the right decision to return them.

    these will be fine...

the old me would buy jeans from stores and they never have my size half the time. I would buy 30 waist, was usually the smallest size they had, and whats weird with pre shrunk jeans is- I would always still need a belt.

basically, I love having jeans that actually fit me now.

  9. bulg 76s:

I love the 47s.. I’m going to hold off shrinking them until warmer weather has arrived as I prefer to dry them in the sun as opposed to a hairdryer.. but man I think I have a new favorite pair of jeans. Best raw fit I have had so far.

What size are you? Maybe I can sort you out.

But first what’s the deal with cone prices and stock. Haven’t been here in ages can’t even find deadstock pairs on eBay. Have a few deadstock pairs of cone 1955s rigids and 1954 rinsed/washed(not even sure what they are tbh) that I’m trying to move. Sad but I don’t think I’ll ever fit in them lol all 34x32 get at me before I throw em on eBay.

I have a deadstock cone denim 47 in size 30/34" if anyone keen. Will do a Sufu friendly price ;)

I saw a 1947 deadstock pair w30 L34 on Grailed. Are they yours? Cones. I was tempted but they are a largeish w30 and i might be better off with a w29. My true waist is 29 inches.

    I’m also looking for a pair of 1966s, ideally in a w29 l34.

I think the jeans from American Graffiti are 1966s, looking at the arcuates.

god I love these jeans with converse. they were made for them. I am working on getting some desert boots though. If only I could decide between my 70s versions and the red ones. as for the jeans, very happy with the cut and fit.

  12. check out the leg twist on these 76's. I actually like it, makes them even more 70s.

nice non LVC Levi's shirt I found on ebay.

and here is me illustrating the crazy differences between the same shirt sizes. That 60s shirt was a little tight, was definitely more like an XS than an S. so I got a M from somewhere else (luckily also reduced price) and it was the exact same size as another Levi's t shirt I have which is a S.

the small 60s shirt on top.
