  1. Thanks @Maynard Friedman. Yeah, this is actually the first time I've seen what they look like on me and they do fit really well. They're cut a little slimmer in the waist than Sugar Cane's MiJ jeans of the same era; I expect they'd probably stretch to be comfortable, so this isn't a huge deal, but I'd rather not have to force them. The bigger problem is the front pocket openings, which are smaller than I prefer. I have enough jeans that feel more or less perfect that I think it would feel like a waste of leg time to wear any that weren't, y'know?

That said, the fabric is really great, the detailing is generally in line with my preferences, the cut does suit me well, and so on. Each time I try them on I wonder if I should just give them a bit more serious of a chance…it's not like they're going anywhere, so I really don't have much to lose

  2. @Broark, Lofgren's standard laces are just super flimsy. They look and feel great, which is why I've been inclined to keep using them up 'til now, but they really don't last half as long as they should—even going through eyelets. I've tried both the Boondocker and the Combat Boot laces, and the Boondocker laces definitely last longer but still fall apart fast. Ready to switch to something less pretty but more functional.

edit: Thanks for the recs. I've used Red Wing's before and haven't liked them so much, but I do remember Wolverine's being fine. Will look into ordering some.

  3. @heyson yep, sun-exposed

Did a slew of prints over this past summer with my mom; they've been sitting around collecting dust since and with how much extra time I've been spending inside, these past few weeks, I've finally started finding places to hang some up

Really great reward-to-effort ratio, for anyone looking for a fun home decoration project

  4. The jeans-pulling-a-horse patch has always been one of my favorites, and would be a huge plus for me. I don't feel the need to have anything SuFu-specific anywhere on it, and would probably prefer if the jeans didn't explicitly reference the contest in any way, but this isn't a strong preference and some reference definitely wouldn't be a dealbreaker.

Honestly, I'm mostly in it for the possibility of Warehouse jeans with a longer inseam, and I'm not too fussed about the particular details (at least now that we seem to have settled on going with one of the Duck Digger repro-esque models). At this point it's seeming likely that I'll be happy with wherever we end up—of course, I Trash Repped anyhow just to be safe.

  5. ^ I know you're joking and all, but on a board where we spend most of our time obsessing over details that won't ever be noticed by anyone besides the wearer either way, being turned off by hidden details doesn't seem like it should be taken as any more ridiculous than being turned on by them.

I prefer jeans with single-chainstitched waistbands, even though no one besides me will ever know the difference. I also (strongly) prefer jeans with plain pocket bags, even though the loudness of overly-adorned alternatives might only ever be evident to me. The whole reason we're here is to care about these things.

  6. First week of passably-ripe strawberries: first galette of the season

Hopefully many more to come as we transition through cherries, stonefruits…

(Never been big on baking w/ apples so haven't done much since last summer)

Meanwhile, also really been enjoying the chance to take breakfasts more seriously

    Beverages and all!
