  1. Do you think Japanese people agonize over ‘culturally appropriating’ American fashion to build....basically their whole apparel industry?

Visvim, nothing but an overpriced Levi’s store circa 1970something.

WTAPS, overpriced Army surplus right down to the Woodland camo and BUDS logos.

And the SUFU ultra-rare Japanese denim threads are every bit as insane as the ACRNM forum.

    Great artists steal.

  2. I was wearing a Heattech shirt today, underneath a ACG insulator and a ACRNM J47GT. Plenty warm in sub-zero Midwest weather. But then I do run hot (Heated seats and steering wheel are helpful too!).

But I wouldn’t call it a base layer, more of a thermal fashion layer maybe?

Which sort of begs the question of how to differentiate between the people that are asking about real performance layers vs those that just want to stay warm during static to moderate outdoor activities.

Frigid temps for an hour or so walking the doggo, almost anything that traps a layer of air will do.

Near freezing rain with no easy shelter to be found, the outside of your fleece/inside of your shell soaking wet from exertion? Be damn glad you’ve invested in wool. That kind of shitty weather will KILL you.

  3. Down is slightly warmer, and a little bit lighter. Synthetics compress better and retain warmth when wet.

If you need a coat for cold and dry, down is fine. But if the cold is wet too, buy something with man made insulation.

Note that the Military does not use down.

  4. I heard that there was not enough F/W 17 to go around, so not every regular shop got stock, there would be no retail S/S 18, but F/W 18 would be back in all the usual stores?

  5. These are leather no?

I've used Angelus leather dyes to good effect in the past. To get a pink shade I would use one of the light reds and thin it. For charcoal maybe a mix of Spice and Black?

Don't use full strength, it will be too dark, and maybe see if you can get a piece of white leather to experiment on.

Well some people don't want to pay an extra $1-$3xx for something they already fully paid for

Until you have covered all applicable duties and taxes you have not "fully paid for" your items.

  7. Lets be honest here. This is entirely a problem of ACRNM’s own making. Whether they are unwilling, or unable to meet demand makes no difference, the market will always move to fill a void. If there were more bags available, there would be fewer knock-offs, end of story.

  8. Yeah, I don't think any of the sneakerboots are actually warm. The closest Ive come to something stylish and semi-warm was the Vans/TNF colab chukka from a couple of years ago, but the sole is too thin to work for long. Cole Haan has got 50% of some boot styles right now?

  9. When it comes time to trade style for warmth I put on my Columbia Bugaboots with Omni-Heat (the silver dots). So warm that unless it's below 20° F I go without socks. Inexpensive too, especially if you can find last seasons stock.

Honestly Columbia should get more love. Innovative fabrics and hella warm gear.

  10. Ha! I was going to recommend wearing it in the rain and shaking it off.

I've never actually washed a Gore Tex jacket before, always just wiped em off with a damp rag. But those were all just shells, no liner like the 63. Good to know there are actual care instructions.

What are you doing to your jackets that they need a wash so soon?

  11. When my favorite Nike Frees disintegrated last winter I replaced them with a pair of Lalo Tactical Zodiac Recons. Love the foot-shaped extra wide toe box and the kevlar upper is water resistant enough.

Forefoot isn’t as flexible as a Free but what is?

https://www.lalotactical.com has a fall lookbook with winterized shoes; the AT version in black/red isn’t as attractive as the regular Black Ops.

  12. Was in Chicago today to see the Cubs game, but got rained out. :angry2: On the plus side, got a full days use out of the J63. Temps were about 60°, rain was steady to

heavy. Stayed warm and dry with only a button down underneath and still looked dressed up for dinner. Favorite ACRNM coat of the last couple years. Its totally

going to supplant the J47 in my wardrobe.

  13. From a distance you could definitely mistake it for leather. Up close it's got a synthetic rubbery look. Not unattractive by any means, but not pleather either.

It's for sure Not Black. Dark Olive/Brown/Grey maybe? I think it pairs better with RAF.

From ACR's description the J16 is "the Acronym response to the original PCU Level 5 jacket" which is a purely military garb.  As such, it makes sense it would have velcro pads to allow for identification/morale patches since the original PCU jacket (and 99% of all mil garb) has them.

At this price point ACRNM should include fabric matched patches, uncovered hook and loop gets nasty. There are, however, plenty of kewl morale patches to fit the bill...

  15. Think this was asked before but I can't seem to find the answer, but does anyone know if NikeLab insulators work with ACRNM jackets?

Specifically thinking about using my ACG tech blazer layer w J56.
