  1. Already have a custom suit tailor - quintessential old Jewish guy, the man is a craftsman, made me a killer tan suit for a summer wedding - and plenty of patterns to choose from. Finding DS to match the pants seems like the only real issue.

Now I’m intrigued. Next time I’m in the city I’m gonna check this out.

  2. Yeah, would have totally copped J29 in DS. Don’t need another hard shell.
Wonder how much it would co$t to buy some DS and have a tailor make me a blazer to go with P33’s.

bots kind of also buy for you, which is the point

A relationship with your local retailer is better than any bot.

  5. Versatile as in weather conditions. DS is comfy in a wider range. Maybe swampy in heat & humidity, but S is too thick to be much better.

I was shoveling snow the other day, 10°, kinda wet. My legs would have been cold in Stotz, but P31’s were more than warm enough.

Don’t get me wrong, P24’s are great. Had there been a blazer to match, I never would have bought DS. But I’m a convert. Outdoorsy folk have been calling DS a miracle fabric for 10+ years.

  6. Didn’t anyone cop P33-DS?  They’re quite straight, if a bit slouchier than combat pants.

33’s and 31’s are all I’m wearing nowadays. P24 cut is nice, but DS blows Stotz away in terms of versatility.

Do any bigger dudes here have the LA8-AK at all? After all the talk about the DS version, I was wondering what the sizing is like. Found a pretty good deal on the AK version in L, but not sure if I need L/XL @ 220lbs with a 44 inch chest and 5'10".

I’m 6 foot, 200 Lbs w a 48” chest and my XL is too snug.

Really liked LA8-DS, but ACRNM shirts skeer me, they’re always too much like sausage casings for me.

To be honest, I much prefer it to GT in almost every way, and even though it's only water resistant, I still wear it as a rain coat a lot of the time.

This! I know hard shells are sexy, but they are the least useful bit of kit in your pack. Unless you really spend time in the outdoors, soft shells and water resistant jackets > GT.

  9. Honestly, ds is so good, I don’t really see a need for insulated pants. Add a base layer and I’d be fine till well below freezing. Pretty much a four season fabric.

One year ago today I was not stuck in the frozen north.
