  1. Hi guys, sorry I haven't been posting (anywhere) for a while - there is a reason which I will explain shortly...

I have been following with interest though - well done everyone so far, its been really interesting and enjoyable having a little window into your neighborhoods and lives, thank you!

No problem with them going to Hendsch before me especially as he is so (relatively) local to Chicote. Enjoy  ;)

  2. I've been wearing mine fairly regularly - at least once a week. Washing regularly too... There's really very little to show at the moment, although I think i'm quite well known for not being a 'denim thrasher'. I'm not at all bothered about the lack of 'development' if i'm honest - I like them as they are.

Having said that, here's a couple of pics showing points of wear and the amazing shade of blue hiding beneath. Although not really about intense fades myself, I will be VERY interested to see how this comes out from someone who does give their denim a hard time!

And a bonus pic just to show the amazing hem job from Junior at Rivet & Hide - looks like there's some hardcore roping in my future..

  3. Cheers Flash - here's hoping there's enough people with the right measurements to take it on. It's a very generous offer and I hope that some decent people will take advantage of it and do the tour justice! I see a few good dudes so far.

On that note, probably best to bear in mind that I appear to be a total wuss when it comes to giving denim a hard time and place me in the order accordingly...

  4. Hey Flash, also not sure if I'm long time or active enough, but the measurements are good for me and I would happily give it a good crack.

Never seen or handled Denime in the wild so would be very interested.

Location wise I'm UK, split between the north west (Chester/Manchester/Liverpool) and central London.

Good to have something for my goddam girly waist.... Ha!

  5. Hey, would anyone be able to share some post soak measurements of 1108xx size 29? Trying to decide between these and 710xx. I've tried a search but didn't get any good results and the websites seem to have conflicting data. Thanks!!

I've got the 710xx in 29 which fit great. I've got the 1108ph in size 28 and they fit a bit slimmer but not by much. I've also tried on the 1108xx which have more 'give' in them than the 1108ph in 28 and 29 and would definitely get the 28 in those too if I wanted an eventual fit similar to my 710xx in 29.

Hope that helps, I can give you the measurements for sam710xx in 29 if you like but not much point in giving you the 1108ph measurements (although you're welcome to them if you want) as the fabric is totally different to the xx so would be misleading.

  6. is there a thread on hoodies? I"m ideally looking a nice indigo dyed hoody - but general discussion would be useful as well.

Where are you based mate? Rivet and hide have a great indigo dyed effort from Pure Blue Japan. I've got an indigo dyed polo from pbj and the quality and fit is top notch. Fades and changed hue amazingly too. The hoody is a different material but the expertise will be the same..

  7. Glad you like your ST's dude, I think mine are great too. I wear them a bit gently it has to be said, but even so there are plenty of amazing shades popping out of the creases and fades. I also have 3sixteen t's and a hoody and have nothing but good things to say about their quality and fit.

You might get a better response for this particular question by posting in 'small questions' at the top of the thread list.

I've been looking into getting another pair of jeans and as much as I love these, I'd also like to explore other brands of (preferably) Japanese denim. At the moment I'm favoring The Flat Head's 3002 and Samurai's 711 cuts, but I'd like to know what other brands have jeans that fit similar to 3sixteen's Slim Tapered cut.

  8. Yes, the 710xx is a good slim fit but not super slim or massively tapered and certainly nowhere near a skinny fit. They are really well cut though and the fabric is amazing. If you look through this whole thread you will struggle to find anyone who doesn't sing its praises and fewer still that the cut does not suit (sized properly of course).

That said, it is of course personal choice and preference that make all the difference and if it's a st120 like cut or slimmer that you feel happier in then the 710 might not be the best bet. I've tried on a pair of the s003jp in the past and they would definitely be a slimmer legged prospect (I struggled to get a 29 over my thighs) and have some great details, but it does seem there's a lot to love about the 711's for that kind of cut. Welcome to the world of Japanese Denim Decision Making Problems!

Oh, also - Where are you measuring your thigh on the ST's? I measure using the same technique as rivet & hide so from the crotch seam across. One inch sounds like a crazy difference - mine were not that slim at purchase...

  9. I wear sz 30 in my 3sixteen pair and was looking at also get a 30 in the Samurai pair. 31.5in waist (BiG measurement) is exactly where I'm at, and multiple people have said they will stretch back to this size. Now I'm thinking about possibly sizing up to a 31 (32in waist) to account for the measuring discrepancy I'm hearing about. I'm hoping that won't make the thigh too wide though, cause again, I have skinny legs.

Does anyone know how much they shrink in the thigh? I'll most likely be getting these from Denimio cause I know BiG doesn't "technically" sell the ones with the red tab/arcs, but I'll be waiting until the end of the Summer since I live in Southern California and it's too hot to survive in heavy denim, at least in its break-in period.

I have the st120 and the 710xx both in size 29. There is definitely less room in the 3sixteen and they feel smaller and slimmer overall. If your ST120's are good in 30 then so should the 710xx be. My 710xx shrunk about 0.5 inch in the thigh but stretched back out a little. After lots of wears and washes the thigh on my st120's is 11" and on the 710xx 11.2". Also the waist on the 710's (measured across the waist and doubled) is just under 31". You shouldn't really need to size up unless you have a beer belly on top of your skinny legs :-) !

No experience with the 711's I'm afraid.

  10. Been a bit quiet over here - not sure wether it's best to post here or on the standard full count thread but hey ho.

Couple of fit pics of my 1108's on a 7 mile cross country pub crawl this saturday.

Examining graffiti that goes back a (very) long time - these names and comments are all chiseled/carved into the sandstone and the skill of the script is amazing on some of them. This continues for over 50 feet along the rock.

Haha. We went with Paolo!  ;)

Many, many congrats on your new addition IH :-). Cool name choice too - PDC was always one of my favourites to watch.

  11. Remember when Napalm Death were on kids TV? What's The Noise with Craig Charles. I was so stoked.

That's so funny - one of my mates told me about it at the time and I thought he was taking the piss... I never did believe him. Appears I owe him an apology, ha! (just you tube'd it - amazing, top geezers)

Suppose I'd better balance this out with some Samurai love for the thread so here's some pics of my 14/15 month 710xx 15th anniversary pair. Still going strong, still continue to impress me.

  12. Ha ha! I actually had access to an old record player my grandad gave me that had speeds 12, 33, 45 & 78. I clearly recall my then girlfriend losing her shit and storming off cos I kept repeatedly playing it on all the different speeds and laughing like a fool...

  13. Loving the T Max!

Used to go and see them live quite frequently in grotty north london pubs in the late 80's... our gig merry go round for a couple of years consisted of: Napalm Death - Dr & The Crippens - Mad Professor, with the gaps filled in with any number of random little gigs. For a while it seemed like one or other of them was playing every weekend. Good times.

Denim fit on point too - I don't currently own any black denim but the 710BKB is probably the way i'd go if i did.

Also just remembered a 7" I had which claimed to be the worlds shortest single: A side was Napalm Death - you suffer, B side Electro Hippies - mega armageddon death part 3. classic. :-)

  14. Popped in recently to have my FC's hemmed. Junior one again demonstrating mastery at the art, for which I am very grateful.

Also picked up a 3sixteen Hoody (which couldn't be a better piece for English weather - solid enough to wear on its own, well shaped and a great layering piece when the mercury drops in a pub beer garden at night). Also a pair of Stevenson 727's (see stevenson thread for pics , thanks to all at the shop for the spot on sizing advice, Danny even found a pair of his to demonstrate shrink & evo!).

Stayed longer than expected in London so needed some extras such as socks. Made a guilt purchase form another London shop of a pair of Full Count and a pair of Pherrow, then went back to R & H and picked up a pair of UES. Should have just got 3 UES. The other two are fine, well made and perfectly useful, but the UES are next level and the ideal alternative to the longer Anonymousism socks i usually wear.

Apart from anything else it was also damn nice to just have a time out from the hubub of central London and chat about denim, tattoos, travel and life in general with some thoroughly decent chaps. The Charlotte street area of London is a haven hidden in plain sight behind the madness of oxford street and well worth a visit for a pint, coffee, cocktail, glass of wine, hair cut, pair of jeans, leather jacket, cigar, lunch, brunch, dinner, breakfast, whatever - it's all there.

  15. X - post from FC special run:

Couple of comparison pics with their new 'brother' - popped into Rivet & Hide to get them hemmed (Junior did his usual magic, absolutely spot on) and ended up walking out with some Stevenson 727s, among other things.

Really, really like the unique little differences with these 727s such as the decent sized 5th pocket, the curved back pockets, the belt loops, the leather backed buttons, the pocket stitching, subtle green line selvedge need i continue  :) ?! The cut is really comfortable for me and they fit very well. I usually size down one to a 29" but sized down two to a 28" on these as the waist is quite large and the thighs slim but forgiving. They have had a machine wash (30 degrees hand wash cycle 400 rpm spin, no tumble dry) and after some initial snugness are now bang on. Worth also noting that I have not had them hemmed and probably will not need to - i wear them with one small cuff and the inseam has shrunk down to 33". They are also still very crispy which I really like.

If they had a leather patch a la 3sixteen they would be close to my perfect jean. As it is they are comfortably holding their own in the 'go to pair' battle with the new FC's! Decisions, decisions every day...

Really, really interesting hue on the FC's and the material is amazing. Softening up nicely. Good, solid, classic detailing all over. Love em.

Thanks again Ed, really pleased to have a pair of Full Count at last and even more pleased its this particular pair.

As an aside, I usually size down one to a 29" but sized down 2 to a 28" for these. after a cold soak they were fine but I bit the bullet and threw them in for a wash in the machine (hand wash cycle 30 degrees 400 rpm spin, no tumble dry) knowing that I would at some stage anyway. They were initially quite snug straight out of the machine but are relaxing nicely into a really good slim fit.

  17. Anyone know how much additional stretching a pair of one wash xx-007 will have?  Just got a pair in sz 31 from BiG, wasit/knees fit fine.  Thigh is a little tight.  Contemplating on sizing up to 32, but wondering if I could hold out and wear them and see if they stretch much.  Thoughts?

I had a pair of the 012 (same material) which shrunk tighter than I would have liked in the thigh after a machine wash.

I tried pretty much everything to stretch them back out, from lunges and squats while they were damp to ten mile bike rides and just ended up with sore legs and back of knees which felt like they had been attacked with a cheese grater.... They did not stretch in the thigh more than the tiniest amount, certainly not enough to make a difference.

  18. Tricky balancing act - I'm pretty sure I'll need a hem (they are a solid 36" at the mo and I need them to be somewhere in the 33" area) and I'm off to London in a couple of days with at least one visit to rivet and hide in the cards. Want to get junior to work his magic on them but need to be careful of further shrink...

  19. Hey Ed - I owe you a pint mate. Or ten. i may be an impatient git but worth every minute of the wait.

These things are amazing. The colour and hue is something unique.

Got them in a gentle soak in the bath at the moment. Got to be careful as they fit perfectly fresh off the plane, so these might not see the inside of a machine until I've gauged shrink/stretch.

Anyone wants pre/post soak measurements for a 28" 1108 just holla.

Cheers Ed. your collab game is strong!
