it wasn't until you mentioned that oakstreet were shunned that I realized that I also kind of viewed them in a negative light but I no longer remember why....was there an actual thing that happened? I remember seeing their boots everywhere for a bit during the great American Made Heritage years of the 2010s.

@youngofthesoonest Have you noticed any extra shrinkage over time with washes and wear? I've pairs of standard 1947s that have shrunk over after subsequent washes months later.
not that I've noticed but I also haven't really noticed any shrinkage in my standard 47s either after the 1st couple washes so maybe my washer isn't as rough? After the first washes, the length went up a bit but then since then I haven't had to adjust anything and it feels the same after a day of wearing.

I took some quick pictures after washing my black 1947s. I can’t remember how many washes and def no clue how many wears. Cold machine wash and air dry. I’ve had to wash these almost every few wears bc of the amount of baby vomit i get on them so they’re getting quite wrinkly. The fabric is great. I’ll prob pick up another pair when the restock hits.

@youngofthesoonestHow are the armpits? Are they higher placed in the opening, pinching the armpits like most of Toyo’s offerings (Buzz, Sugar Cane, etc)? I’ve been hesitant of buying any other Toyo jackets because of my experience with Buzz jackets.
hm they're pretty comfy to me but I also dont really have an issue with armpit holes being cut too high with any of Toyo's stuff. The only one I've ever noticed being on the tighter side is the MA-1 but it's just slightly noticeable for me.

yeah I was pleasantly surprised to see cal since a lot of the times it's a lot smaller schools or schools that no longer exists.

Not anywhere close to being cold enough to wear this yet but i ordered a Whitesville “Cal“ varsity jacket and it just arrived. I never really bought any university related stuff outside of a few t-shirts while i was in school there. Funny how my first serious university merch comes 15 years after graduating and isn’t even an officially licensed one ha

oh yeah that's a great fit. yeah I wish this had the paper patch and also the belt loops of the mainline models but those are minor. I hope stevenson keep this cut in the lineup.

Nice! Is that a MIJ JM in the background? Always loved the gold hardware.
Yeah it is! Good eye. It’s my all time favorite guitar. The Japanese guitars were such a great deal back when i got it although I’m guessing it’s more expensive nowadays. My main gripe with the Japanese jazzmasters (other than the useless bridge that most jm come with) is that the stock pickups had a more strat like bell sound to it. I ended up swapping them out along with a bridge.

I'm jumping on the Roy train and say that I've always regretted passing on any of the Big Bro releases, the Peanuts jean and the very last release with the different deadstock fabrics. I do have a few pairs that unfortunately dont fit me or dont fit me how I like them to now but I just keep them in a box with all the other clothes to give to me kids later haha
I also have always wanted the Flat Head Ring Ring jean and really regretted not getting a pair although now I'm not so sure I would like the fit now. I still would love to just have it as part of the collection. Maybe I'll want slim jeans again when I turn 40 in a couple years....

Going back and reading the Stevenson thread last night, I was really struck that this brand has had a definite and sad story arc in the denim community here. From 2007-2015 or so, there were so many acquisitions of new 727s or 767s by forum members, so much praise given to the unique details of these jeans - the beautiful green cast denim, meticulous single needle construction, truly creative and thoughtful breaks from traditional denim designs - that I certainly felt swept up in also, and I assumed at that time that Stevenson would remain one of the more popular brands on this forum, because of how successfully they’ve broken with many of the traditions of the repro denim world.
But as time went on, it seems most people ended up finding fault with these jeans; more often than not, it was due to the fit. Too wide in the waist, too heavily tapered below the knee, and - for me especially - much too low of a front and back rise to be comfortable. A few people, @kiya and @youngofthesoonest I can recall off the top of my head, did wear their pairs in pretty hard (your guys’ photos are broken btw!), but for almost everyone else it seemed that the magic faded before the denim ever had a chance to.
Well, in a bit of nostalgic rapture last night, and flush with cash from selling 10lbs of carnitas at a garage sale, I bought a pair of 150 Encinitas from Double Soul, their last pair in size 29.
Pictures taken from Franklin and Poe, who carries this model up into tag size 36:
The measurements, finally, look like the sort that might appease the 30s-40s fit crowd: an 11+ inch front rise, roomy thigh and drastic but not completely extreme taper to, in my size, at least, an 8 3/8” leg opening. The waist is still oversized, yes, but for the first time that I’ve seen, Stevenson seems to be really trying to make a truer repro-oriented cut with their signature denim and construction detail.
Measurements also from Franklin and Poe. I’m noting these one-wash measurements are a big larger all around than the ones given by Stevenson on their own website, but assume (and hope) these were done on the actual product.
I’ll update further when these arrive in the mail, most likely some time in the next couple weeks. I really want them to live up to my expectations; going back and reading through this thread reminded me of what a special brand this is, and I’d love to be able to properly break in some of their jeans and, for all of these people who had their hopes dashed in the past, perhaps endorse giving them a second look.I have these and they’re great. I’m glad to have this fabric in a fit with a higher rise and fuller leg. Mine were raw and I hot washed and airdried outside but I'm not sure my waist got down to tag...I've worn them for about 30ish wears. nothing worth taking photos of yet but they're breaking in nicely.

damn, seeing that site brings back so many memories of spending so many hours looking at every product trying to figure out what my next jean was.

Can we link our own music in here? recorded this live video a few months back. I'm wearing a Toyo Star of Hollywood rayon shirt if that helps stay relevant lol

That looks more like it could be an indigofera shirt. I dont believe iron heart has made a sawtooth western flannel in the last few years...he has worn iron heart though on the show. It's awesome that they just let him wear his entire wardrobe.

Do any of you use a watch winder? It would be nice to not have to re-wind and re-set my watch after not wearing it for a week or so.
I dont. I had a conversation a while back with some of the guys who work at Grand Seiko and they all recommended not using it since it adds extra wear on the moving components. They preferred just setting it again if it's stopped so I just followed their advice on it.

Agreed on the waffle knit being disappointing in the drying ability. I’ll have to check out the ones mentioned here. Been wanting a better towel

I can get pictures later but I have two pairs that he did around 2015-2016...they both came out great. It was all very cleanly done and his custom soles are very heavy duty. I remember it was very expensive and I imagine it's gotten more expensive since 6-7 years ago.

Seeing a pair of Evisu like this still makes me smile and I wanna have a pair
agreed! I'd love to have a pair but they'd also be filed in the category of clothes I like but never really wear.

I remember BiG carrying them.. i also remember Gordon damaging his hand having spent all day chainstitching hems, was that for the Samurai contest here? i can't quite remember, there was a TV interview when he had his swollen hand bandaged up and his wedding ring in his coin pocket
Hemming heavy, unwashed, rigid jeans all day is a pretty painful experience but needing to bandage your hand must have been next level bad...maybe his technique was a tad aggressive lol. The worst days were going through the jean piles that needed to be hemmed that day and finding 20+ pairs of FH 3202, Iron Heart UHR, and whatever other heavy ass jeans that got released. Those were def moments I remembered to wear safety goggles

I bought 3sixteen t-shirts from Johan who I had met through my girlfriend in college and when they made their first run of jeans, I bought a few pairs. Through that, I discovered self edge, met kiya, ginno, Craig and eugene at Self Edge SF and ended up hanging out there way too much and spent way too much money. I'm pretty sure my first pair of Japanese made jeans were iron hearts and from there discovered that I preferred more midweight jeans and then got a pair of the self edge flat head rjb SExRJBxFH jeans which is still one of my favorite jeans. I sold most of my older jeans but kept that pair around for memories.

I had a lurker account prior to this one.. @KID KIORA back in 2008
Prior to this i briefly had another account linked to my long defunct hotmail address, i'll try and track it down, i was still using it when i swapped a Buzz CPO with @Foxy2 many years ago.. Kaj, if you've still got my old hotmail in your addresses can you pm it please?
..anywho, my first post as @Double 0 Soul was in the boots thread.. my old Lone Wolf Mechanic's, I think they were the second thing i bought from JP, i've still got them, they must be 20yrs old by now..
I discovered Sufu I first bought a pair of raw denim jeans at a store in SF on haight st. I cant remember the name of the brand nor the store now...memory is so shitty nowadays. this was back in 2006 I think. I didnt post much and just visited it once in a while because it was an intimidating forum to jump in at the time. I cant remember what my username was at the time but when I got back on in 2013, I couldn't get my old login to work so I created a new one. No clue what my first post was...probably a stupid question about indigo bleed.
