  1. that jacket looks pretty awesome. i agree about not liking jackets that don't have hand pockets or pockets down near the waist but for some reason, i just couldn't say no to getting a type II jacket. i just had to get used to putting my hands in my pants pockets.

  2. I live in Atlanta and when I came home in 2012 for the summer I wore SE05BSPs every day, and I wasn't too hot.  My 1001s are comfortable in hot weather too, probably helps that the fit isn't as tight as on the BSPs.

haha yeah i'm definitely just spoiled with mild weather in SF. i don't own anything lighter than 14.5oz so i just power through it when i'm back in atlanta. i'm sure if i lived there again or spent a longer period time there, i'd get used to it.

  3. i know a ton of people do it and are fine but man i can't imagine myself wearing 18-25 oz denim in the summer time in the south. maybe i've grown wimpy being away from atlanta so long and just am not used to hot and humid anymore but when i go back, i feel like melting wearing 14oz denim.

  4. piggy backing off of tyler and kiya, this is probably my favorite fit from Roy. Seeing it on Roy, who's pretty tall and skinny, and also on another guy who was shorter and stockier, the jean somehow works for both body types. Plus the leather patch design and art is definitely my favorite of all the Roy jeans so far. if i didn't already just pick up a pair of strike golds, i would definitely get one for myself.

  5. fishtacologin, i hear you about shorter legs making it hard to find pants that fit. higher rises tend to be harder to pull off. i'd say a mid rise, slim tapered jean like cold summer suggested. the se05bsp is great and i'd also recommend 3sixteen+ 21bsp and iron heart 666.

  6. 1 year, 3 months and barely a fade on them... that's what I get for sitting on my ass all day.

that looks pretty good especially if you're not too active in them. have you washed them recently? if not, i'd do a cold wash, line dry and you should see some more contrast.

  7. x post from the strike gold thread. first day wearing the strike gold 5105s. a little snug after the soak but should loosen up nicely.

  8. got them back from hemming. they're snug right now after the hot soak but after a few weeks they should loosen up nicely. so pumped to see these guys age.

  9. nudie's orange stitching contrasts a lot more with the darker denim which i think can make the jacket a little more flashy and loud.

13.5 oz isn't that light but if you want heavier, the Self Edge X Iron Heart's type III jackets are heavier and can be on the slim side too.

  10. Got to see a test pair in the store the other day. it looks like a good fit for those who want roomier legs but with a bit of a taper so the look is a little more fitted. the denim has some nice weight to it and the patch on it is along the lines of the big bro. super excited to see the finished version!

  11. I want to try on lots of cuts from lots of brands before I drop ~$200 on some new denim and I live in central NJ. Brands I particularly like are Rogue Territory, Left Field, Railcar . . . But the more the merrier. I assume I'll have to head into NYC to try them on. Anyone know the best way to make use of my time if I'm coming in via Penn Station? Meaning I want to be able to try on a bunch of different brands, and in don't want to take a subway all the way out to he edge of the city.

left field has their own space you can make an appointment and try on stuff. there's gentry in brooklyn if you want to try on rogue territory. I'd definitely stop by Self Edge. There's also blue in green too.

  12. picked up a pair of the 5105. it definitely isn't as rigid as other denim fabrics but the texture on them is nice. I'd say they're a good all weather jean. I soaked them and line dried them yesterday. it shrunk down about a full size and lost about 2.75 inches in the length with a 45 minute hot soak.

the stubbiness of the fabric definitely super noticeable on the weft side. on the warp side, it's got texture but i don't think it's as slubby as the 11XX denim. it felt like the 11XX denim has a rougher hand. just from trying it on, i think this pair is going to break in quickly.

I'm going to get them hemmed at SESF tomorrow and then i'll take some pics of fit.
