    Sugar Cane Denim

I have that Sugarcane California vest, bought an year ago on taobao w tags removed for much less than sugarcane RRP (65 USD iirc). It feels a bit cheap to be honest. If you want quality Rocky Mountain Featherbed it's the thing. The leather quality used for the yoke is cheap and I had to resew the collar after the first winter of wear. Fits and looks good though. For the money I paid I can't really complain.

    TCB

^ I understand your criticism, Hajime's geekery as a sewer/vintage machines expert is the main force of Tcb brand identity, what makes Tcb stand out. The most radical improvement he could make with Tcb at this point is patterns/cuts.

Happy Jeans - Tcb 20s contest thread

hello everyone! time to open this thread. We're programming a new TCB contest, this time it will be focused on the TCB 20s cut only. The sponsor of the contest will be our own @edmond and Regiment Store in Manila. Start date: sept 1st 2017 End date: march 1st 2019 Preorder deadline: july 15th 2017 Cost: USD 245, shipping included, hemming included if needed (done by TCB) Customization: it's possible to order the jeans without suspender buttons (they don't make much of a difference as far as comfort when wearing a belt, though) Payment: it's possible that payment will be via credit card only, no paypal. More details about it later... Prizes: thanks to the Asian Charles Bronson & Regiment store we'll have perhaps the most generous prize line up I've ever seen in a contest. 1st Prize = 1 jacket 1 pants 2nd prize = 1 jacket 3rd price = 1 pants 4th prize = newspaper bag 5th prize = hat or cap All TCB products! TCB 20s Replica of a 1922 pair of Levi's 501 from Hajime Inoue's personal collection. typical details of a 1920's pair of jeans, straight cut, cinchback, exposed back pocket rivets, crotch rivet, suspender buttons, iron buttons that will rust over time. Fabric: 8x8 Memphis cotton denim, 12.5 oz weight. Superb fabric, I must say! Special details, only for the contest pair custom patch, designed in Italy special pocket bag fabric, selvedge indigo duck fabric weaved on old looms. Inoue's own words: "indigo canvas can also enjoy discoloration" custom arcs, designed by Inoue, I have no pictures yet of the arcs design, but it'll be something that could be partially unpicked to reveal "proper" arcs waistband chainstitch runoff

    Roy. (expurgated edition)

they surely do look amazing, packed with quirky, unique details and the cut looks great too. I'm a notorious cheapskate but seen the amount of detailing on these, and the fact they're made by a one man band and sold by a shop price doesn't seem too steep for me.

Denim Blunders, Reflections and General Nonsense.

I have 4 different fleeces, two by Realthing (a Chinese brand that actually makes good stuff) and two vintage synchilla ones by Patagonia. I love the look and how they match with denim actually. To not mention they're super comfy. Surely it's not a piece of garment that will look better with wear. The 80s Patagonia ones still look fine now though, haha yeah you feel you're trying hard the urban hiker look? I guess you feel you're trying less hard when wearing that vintage hat you posted in the hats thread

try a folded cuff, it would make it look a little less bulky. the way it is in the photo is a bit too big.

    WAYWT 2019 (denim edition)

it has proven to be a great investment haha. I think I paid 90 eur for it, 4 years ago. It has seen a lot of wear, and it is actually faded now. I will have to wash it soon too. I'd love to toss it in the washing machine and make it fade more but it may shrink and become too tight.

interesting bits of discussion... going back to @mlwdp I think a size up would definitely look more flattering, but an XL may be more functional. I would size down personally.

    New Contest Suggestions

That'd be super cool. A request has been sent already to WH through Bobbo's friends shop in Gothenburg, We have to wait to hear from them before we contact other shops/dealers. like many others have said I don't get the appeal of a multibrand contest with people wearing different jeans. to be fair I don't get either the appeal of different cuts/fits, and I would be keen on joining a contest with one single brand/cut/fabric, and a repro jean. I appreciate many of you guys are throwing ideas to make a contest as inclusive as possible, but I think the sweet spot would still be 20/30 people. warehouse would be my absolute favourite, I am wearing my first pair Warehouse these days and I think it'ìs the only brand that I've experienced so far that does it for me as much as Tcb. Roy would be amazing too, especially if he agrees to work on a repro-oriented project. I would personally be a bit concerned that a Roy contest pair may end up be too expensive, but I guess I would cave and buy if I like what we can get.

    TCB

I have the 30s 50s and 60s, the 30s is the slimmest cut of all. I am away now and can't measure but I am pretty sure the 30s P2P is smaller.

Happy Jeans - Tcb 20s contest thread

I'd be happy with any loose straight cut. If it comes with a cinch I will just cut it haha, as long as the cut is not tapered I'm happy.
