  1. I remember when I was in my mid teen's I had a pair of Jaguar brand trainers. No idea about their story, I doubt that there even is one, and I am not going to bother to look. And I didn't need to know back then, either. And I scribbled over them with a marker, "Go Go Jaguar Nuclear". Happy days, in my Jaguar Nuclears, who cares what brand baggy jeans and some scruffy oversized top. Pockets full of lint and maybe crumbs of hash. Years later, working, not earning much, had a budget of £30, any item of clothing, didn't matter what, but max out £30. Internet sales, TK Maxx, again, who cares what brand as long as it wasn't something gaudy, and didn't fall to pieces when I picked it up. No indigo uniforms, navy was boring. Colours at random, jumbled coherence, best fun I ever had dressing, Then. Superfuture. Threw all my jumble sale outfits away, it wasn't approved, it wasn't made in Japan, it obviously wasn't quality! Except, it was just fine, and adhering to some forum approved perspective of what was deigned acceptable completely killed the fun of clothes shopping. And I still mourn some of those cheap pieces of clothing I dumped at the recycling bin. And I definitely think group think kills flair. Be original in your cheap clothes, look after them and be yourself. There, much better. ... That said, I am currently debating the relative merits of buying an 800 Eur pair of Dimissianos and Miller boots. So I am quite the hypocrite. But, I'll be the only man on the forum with a pair of Dimissianos and Miller boots, so there's that. And anyway, it means I'll have no money for anything else, which will mean it suits the vision of buying something so expensive it hurts and therefore has a meaning of its own right.
  2. @Double 0 Soul It's all shite mate, and obsessing over clothing, obsessing over anything really, ruins the nature of it anyway. Whatever happened to just sticking on a pair of Pepe and actually going out to have a bit of healthy illicit fun. Selvedge denim, goodyear welted shoes, it's all banal now to the point of cringe. Least you're not wearing Freewheelers, I'd have to really insult you if you were. We need a different forum mate, where clothes are incidental to actually doing shit ( ...and nobody mentions bloody Freewheelers )
  3. Well, under that identity they now at least have '1' feedback! and "Approval Identification" it appears too, holding fingers crossed!
  4. @yung_flynn if you don't get an answer beforehand, I can measure up if you give me a few days - my XL S101-00 is sitting washed in the wardrobe. They changed the cut late 2020 - https://ameblo.jp/deluxeware/entry-12637752743.html - though I am fairly sure mine is the newer shape. The larger US.M I have in the S102 (thought I was ordering a 'P' but instead received an '00' ...) is only wider in the width - blog post about that here; https://ameblo.jp/deluxeware/entry-12354134912.html
  5. That's a good way of putting it. I have an S101 in sumikuro in an XL which is very ciose fitting, and an S102 in 'gray beige' in the larger USM size which is looser (and I prefer) fitting, both feel like suits of armour!
  6. /\ that's a really good fit on you, and personally I would leave the chainstitch from Clever as is, if it's cotton or cotton wrapped poly core it will fade anyway. Great colour on the S101 too, Deluxeware sweats are superb.
  7. Oh dear, we’re doomed! On the subject of AI though, I’m not too worried (yet) As an example I’ve to correct CoPilot on so many occasions on subjects that I’ve had limited enough knowledge on myself that it appears to have roughly the depth of the average subreddit. This isn’t any kind of artificial intelligence as there is no inherent learning by the machine taking place, it’s scraping albeit a very superficial layer of existing commentary and returning it as an often inaccurate result. There. Needed that. Now, which way to the ranty old man’s club?
  8. Here’s something that has been going through my mind. Since a ‘return’ as it seems to SuFu I’ve tried to avoid the rep system as it’s been just a bit too close to comfort for two things that I hate elsewhere, facebook likes and instagram replies using just emojis - in both cases where the emoji or ‘like’ has taken the place of that user actually being able to string together a sentence. in turn this is sadly part of what I see as the demise of the internet, as the old message boards became forums, these traditional forums then having given way to facebook groups, and then facebook groups dying out as people gave up talking to each other and were able to ‘communicate’ (if that’s what it’s called) with virals, ‘shorts’ gifs and strings of emojis and whatever other nonsense that has eroded the use of vocabulary that now instead dominates the net. So I’ve tried to avoid using ‘rep’ here too, which has put me in an awkward space of appearing to have ignored or not acknowledged some replies as conversation moves on and it would break continuity. I don’t think there’s really an answer, so instead I think this is more me ruminating out loud, bit like the ageing git that I am 😅 (shit, I’ve used another emoticon again 🙄)
  9. @Double 0 Soul sorry mate it occurred to me after that what I had done was fall into the very trap of something you didn’t need, another internet nobhead trying to tell someone else what to do 😅 (I wasn’t, by the way, it was more that I think some things are far simpler than is in the interests of the ‘self publicists’ trying to make out) @CSL notwithstanding the above … 😅 … I do think the idea of running just enough water through, and not more, tends to work, then if you’re looking for a longer black coffee for example, diluting in the cup (rather than via the filter) … but I shall postface that comment by saying ‘for me!’
  10. Good coffee doesn’t have to be fancy imo Soulie, I’ll alternative at home between pour over, aeropress and a fairly entry level but reliable enough Smeg espresso machine. But pour over is just fine for provided I follow three consistent steps: 1) let the water come off the boil so you don’t scorch the grounds (that classic burnt plastic taste aka awful Starbucks), 2) pour the water slowly allowing the grounds to bloom, and 3) don’t over pour / pour beyond the main ‘foam’ as you’ll over extract and get a crappy cup - either too acidic or too weak. There, job done. … oh, and I suppose a decent bean or ground is a good idea too, but that doesn’t have to mean more than a few quid, as long as either are used up quickly enough so they don’t loose taste to the atmosphere. Who needs influencers when it’s just basically obvious 😄
  11. … and as an example;
  12. Hello mate, I’ve never had a pair of Resolute to compare, but it looks like the BeeBee guys have made a few fitting videos at PSA on their channel; https://youtube.com/@beebeechannel11?si=UzCSXFgw_HeY8uDn You might find a video with the same guys who tried the SD100 to compare how they look on them.
  13. Yes mate, that and / or I’m sure i read you post something about sizing up or sizing for comfort.. Either that or I’m just appreciating your fit pics, heel goed 👍
  14. That’s worth knowing, cheers. re TakeOff mentioned earlier - also a good experience here, while not perhaps the most ‘chatty’, they deducted Jp tax and shipped promptly. Morley were mentioned recently too, they were a lot more friendly however to my recollection did not deduct local tax - so pays your money take your choice.
  15. Spot on imo mate i’ve lost interest in Denime since Warehouse took over, but that fit looks just right.
  16. Good to see a bit of interest in SDA again, I like my SD-100 so much I’m considering a second pair to stash away for the future, something few other jeans have really ever had me thinking of doing. i should get a fit pic up, though noting that I tend to prefer my clothing probably a looser fit than most would consider as ‘fitting’ here. @smoothsailor has it right imo 😃
  17. Yes, the Ichimaigawa up to only 27.5 and the Ashinari up to only 28 I am afraid. They do state that the fit is in the region of a half size larger but no good for you I am afraid. Anyway, sent an e-mail asking about shipping. The inevitable sizing dilemma begins next
  18. I am sure I am missing a joke here that Alien and Soul have got for which I apologise and can only blame how slowly my mind works
  19. Thanks. I'd never heard of an Australian Cattle dog, I had to look that up - I can certainly see that in her coat! Wonderful
  20. Somewhat of a long shot, but has anyone here tried Kotoka shoes out of Nara? http://https://www.kotoka-store.jp/ I have my eye on either the Ichimaigawa (KTO-2002 ) or Ashinari (KTO-3001). What I particularly like here - and the reason for interest - is their explanation of their lasts, in particular the oblique last. Info about that here: https://nara-shoes.jp/kotoka-last/ They don't appear to make a boot, but the shoes are right up my street.
  21. Particularly pleased with the front pocket depth and material on my new SD-100. I thought the rear pockets might be larger in a sort of Edwin-esque fashion, and while they are certainly not small they aren't as oversized as I had expected. I think images make them look larger, that was the impression I'd previously had from the SD-101 anyway.
  22. Your dog is incredible Julian, what is she / he?
