  1. Ok, I figured that since today is the deadline for contest 3, I should post my pictures (actually did this 2 months ago for my birthday).  I normally have only a couple alcoholic drinks a month, so having 10 in one night (counting the 24 ounce beers as 2) was kind of insane for me, even with Utah percentages. :)  Sorry the pics are kind of terrible.  There are shots of my jeans afterwards, which are actually nice to look at.

    All pics taken on my cell phone, so they're even cooler in real life!

    Will post more pics of the jeans soon.  I completed contest 3 a month ago and just haven't gotten around to uploading pics yet, so I'll do that soon too. Hah.

  3. Purchased the Allan in red lollipop cavalier leather wuth commando sole . The cavalier leather is extremely smooth yet very heavy / thick.

    Great boots, great leather.  I have a pair of Quoddys in red cavalier and absolutely love that leather.  It's extraordinarily resilient and easy to maintain.  I'll be curious to see how yours look down the road.

  4. Plus rep for the dog alone. Jeans and boots aren't too bad either.

    Thanks!  She's a good dog.  That camera I used is really really awful in terms of picking up any color in my denim, but my cell phone, which actually has a better camera, doesn't have a self-timer.  My jeans (710s with a little over 6 months of wear) are in HWDC2 and I put up some much better pictures in that thread a few weeks back if you're curious to see them.  Looking at that picture again, they're getting awfully baggy and I think it's about time for a wash!

  5. Up for sale is a great pair of boots from Quoddy, the Grizzly, size 11, in black pebbled chromexcel #19 with a deerskin tongue and a shearling/sheepskin black interior.  I bought these this past Spring, but unfortunately just haven't given them the wear they deserve.  They have been worn 3x, cleaned/polished up each time after being worn, and are in excellent like-new condition.  They don't normally do black shearling, so it took awhile to get these custom made.  Price was $450 + s/h new, but obviously since they're one of a kind and custom made to my specifications, I have to take a hit and I'll accept $260+ s/h.

  6. Ran the Sapper Joe "Generous 15k" on Saturday.  I haven't been training much as it has taken a long time to totally kick that hip issue (I've finally been upping my mileage the last few weeks without issue, back to almost 50 miles this past week, hoping to be back at 80 or so within a month).  Anyway, I managed to have a pretty decent run, doing the 11 mile course with 2400' gain on single track and jeep trail in 1:21:45 (or so I thought), compared to the old course record of 1:28:xx.  Of course, a former top level D1 guy who ran 4:01 in the mile back in college beat me out for the win by a minute.  Anyway, I looked up the results online and saw that my time was listed as 1:22:45, even though my Garmin says 1:21:43.  It wasn't chip timed and some guy was just writing down times at the finish, so I initially thought that they had just made a mistake.  However, on closer analysis of my Garmin, it says time: 1:21:43, moving time: 1:21:30, elapsed time: 1:22:51.  Moving time being different from time makes sense as I passed under a bridge twice and probably lost coverage briefly, but I don't know what the difference between time and elapsed time is.  I don't think I stopped my watch the instance I finished, but I doubt I stopped it a minute later.  I had clocked the winner as being only 30 seconds in front of me a quarter mile from the finish, but I lost ~30 seconds on him when I missed the 2nd to last turn and had to backtrack just a bit.  I didn't stop my watch during the race, so I have no idea how the time and elapsed time are different.  There are no gaps in my Garmin's pace data or anything that indicate that it just accidentally shut off for a minute at some point en route (plus the buttons are pretty beefy, so it would take some serious pressure to depress them).  You guys are all into gear it seems, so do any of you have any idea as to how this could have happened?

  7. Just be honest and you'll get your sale more easily.  Your price isn't bad, but if people think you're trying to pull a fast one on them, they won't buy.  Good luck.  Oh, and by the way, it will take more than one evening for them stretch out, more like a week, so if they're a little tight, odds are still decent that they'll fit you fine.

  8. So, I actually completed challenge 3 (exactly 10 drinks, admittedly over like 6 or 7 hours while hanging out with buddies, so I was never all that intoxicated) on Saturday but didn't have a camera with me and drank half of them in a hottub in a swimsuit instead of in my jeans.  Considering that my car is lame (2004 Hyundai Sonata) and my art abilities are nonexistent, I guess I'll just have to do it again. :)

  9.

    Damn Cander, great contrasts although you've washed them 5 times in such a short timespan.

    Oh dear, that looks like a possible winner already.

    @cander

    seems every month wash? wonder what your jeans rocking at, btw superb evo for samurai!

    Thanks guys.  I may have only washed them 4 times, now that I think about it.  I was pretty sure the count was 5, but I only washed them for the first time after 3 months, and then once every 3-4 weeks since then, so 4 would make more sense.  I am worried that they won't continue with this much contrast in the future due to the washings, as they're not as stiff out of the last wash as they were out of the previous ones.  I guess we'll see!
