  1. what, beatle? How could you sell such a piece of history?! *shakinghead*

I think I was the one who sold them to him via beatle...

I knew what I was giving up when I did it but they had so much indigo left on them and they'd never fit me again so I'd rather let someone else enjoy them fully. Denim is more fun if you can wear it!

  2. I know that the #32 and #44 use brown weft to make the fades a bit darker over time. My 32s aren't too faded yet but you can see some light brown hues in the right light. I had asked them for a fabric that would hold on to the indigo and stay darker and they pointed me in that direction.

My brother has a pair in 44 and I've got a phone case in that denim and its definitely got a brown cast to it. That's also a broken twill fabric. There might be some other fabrics with brown or offcolored weft, shoot Ryo and Hiro an email and ask em.

Oh and regarding warehouse like denim, I had asked them for samples similar to 1000xx a while back and they sent me #s 12, 41, 43, 84 and 92. So Aho, you're on the right page!

  3. Here is some "light" reading from an economist on a Texas agriculture committee at Texas a &m, and an article from an agriculture blog regarding the outstanding quality of Texas cotton as of recently.

From the first link it sounds like 2011 is one of the best...

Don't ask me why I'm spending time researching cotton on a Friday evening..

  4. You can pick every single detail! Pocket bags, rivets, buttons, thread, i think there are three choices of leather patches.... goat, deer and calf.

As far as pricing, my 3201 with custom buttons, et al. cost 25,620 yen + 2000 for shipping. This was as of 6/18/10.

So not the cheapest by a long shot, but as we know, the quality and customization options are outstanding. You know you want to do it!

  5. I work as a freelance/contract user experience developer for a startup/tech incubator in chicago. I'm free do do whatever I want however I want, as long as I design stuff that makes our clients happy. We're funded by a lot of government grants so the better we do, the more cashola we get.

We work a lot with healthcare clients so things get intense but the results are rewarding. If you're into ux and living in chicago maybe we can collab one day.

  6. Great info there, Aho. I can only add that way back when, I think i sized down 2 ( I have no idea how) on the contest 660s to attain a pretty nice slim fit. This was when their sizing was wacky, though. I don't really think I have too many pictures.

fake edit: here's some after the 1 year mark so I guess they're a bit stretched or whatever:

  7. arcarsenal: damn, repped you for the wrong post ;)

nice comparison! so what pair is new one yes? the 1001XX? haven't seen you naming it in the 2 posts

Ah! sorry, the new pair is the 6x6 1000XX from their latest batch. Thanks for the kind words!

  8. Post hot machine wash & air dry measurements are a bit smaller than the one wash 31's on Blue in Green, but I still dig the fit. They kind of remind me of an Eternal 811 with a higher rise. After they stretch and settle they should match the one wash measurements and probably stretch a bit beyond.

    Wasit: 31

    Front Rise: 11

    Back Rise: 14.5

    Upper Thigh:~12.2

    Leg Opening:~8.5

    Inseam: 33

Compared with the well worn and loved 7x6 1000XX on the contest 660s. One day we'll have a true evo comparison!:

  9. I'll surely post the the post hot wash measurements after they're done drying outside. I didn't stop to take pre wash measurements (too excited :)), but they felt pretty spot on to the size chart on Blue in Green. For a tagged size 31, I'd say the waist was spot on 33 before this wash.

  10. The friendly neighborhood postman just stopped by. Initial impressions are of great happiness. The denim is beautiful - check out the detail pics for all of that gorgeous texture and a bonus of the (deer?) grain on the patch.

The denim itself feels strong, really nice weight to it. If they're anything like my contest pair of 660s, they're going to be amazingly comfortable after the break-in. I think I sized these just right, after a hot wash they're going to be perfect.

  11. congrats on the buy arcarsenal, they are definitely a sight to behold in person...

    Regarding the 1003XX, I wish I could have a pair...Snake, you gonna buy? ;)

Thanks, Aho. We'll have to have a Chicago 1000xx meetup to show off

How did you size yours? I think I actually sized down one since I'm usually a true 32, but the post wash measurements for the 31 seemed perfect.
