  1. I bought the Rising Sun Miners from Orvis - just got them in the mail actually. Really nice for the most part.

Could you give us some measurements for the waist? Fit pics too?

    They look pretty nice.

  2. This thread was started by me and turned out to be hilarious. I have been meaning to revive it. I was a little tike when that thread was started. Is this the thread you were talking about?

and here is the pic of the fake selvedge on that pair.

    fakeselvedge0ga.jpg

The post I am thinking of had four pictures of selvedge. Two were real and two were fake. It was a sort of quiz to see if you could tell which was which with the answer given below. I seem to remember that one of the fake selvedge had red and green threads in honor of Italy.

  3. If I really work at it, I can get the upper thigh on my 35s to measure 12.25. The 36s easily measure 12.75. I measured them at 13.25 raw. Perhaps the pattern changed a little between the earlier and later production? Or I am really bad at measuring.

  4. thx for sharing!

one inch bigger than tagged? I thought he made them to shrink from tag size...but in th end, that's the sie I need (altough the thighs look kinda slim for a size 35, compared to other brands that is)

For comparison, my 36 waist ROYs measured 36.25 in the waist raw--just 1/4" bigger.

  5. Here are some measurements on my 35x36.25. I soaked for 45 mins at 95 degrees F. I have worn them about twenty times.

raw / post soak / now

    waist (BiG) 36 34 35.75

    front rise 11.5 11 11

    back rise 16.25 15.5 16.25

    thigh 12 12 12

    knee 9 8.75 8.75

    hem 8.75 8.5 8.5

    inseam 36.25 34.5 34.5

  6. I second that. If I had gone for a pair, I would have gone for the 35 waist, so keep us informed over the comin months, cheers.

Btw - liking them teamed with the '44 Lee 101J. contrasting with the yellow stiching on the jacket, orange on the jeans.

    .

If the picture were clearer, you could see the triple stitching on the jacket. It's the '37.

  7. Thanks for the comments! I'll post some measurements soon.

Damn!! Those look good. I like the jacket. Does that count as the double dip?

I was on vacation on double dip day, so this is my late entry. I didn't want to make any excuses back then, because I was hoping that roy6 would neg rep me.

  8. Just before ROY's deadline, I ordered a second pair, one size down from my first pair. These have a 35 waist, TTS for me. Although the first pair was very tight in the seat, these were not. Otherwise, they are much more fitted and much more to my liking. I have been wearing them a lot now that our abominable summer is over (I hope).

  9. Sansome,

What do you think of that non denim twill fabric piece that was found? Does that oxidation stain on the fabric look like a rivet was there? At closer inspection it looks like a small corroded rivet is still there. If so would that almost have to be a levis garment? maybe a jacket, but that piece does look a lot like a fly portion.

Since that looks like copper oxidation (being blue-green) and other metal pieces on jeans, like shanks, were usually made of ferrous metals (since they rust), I would guess that is a rivet.

  10. Strange vibes and desert seem to go together, sounds like a interesting fellow you met. I usually try to stay away from human contact while I'm out on a trip, but by doing so, I miss all of those interesting people, out in the middle of nothing. This picture was taken in California, a lot of places look the same. My father in law and I took a trip a few years back, we drove over 1,800 miles in three days. I came back with cloud pictures ( no duck or denim) My wife blew her stack (you drove 1,800 miles and brought back fucking cloud pictures!!!!!) I hesitate now when I see a picturesque cloud formation, but not enough to keep me from taking the shot.

Show her some John Constable cloud studies, then she'll understand.

  11. ^I must have been in a very bad mood when I wrote that rant! Although what disturbed me then still disturbs me now. Sugar Cane is not the only sinner in this respect. Warehouse (Duckdiggers) also puts belt loops on jeans that should never have them.

  12. Oooops, not to be exclusive, but I was under the impression that ole Roy6 and maybe a few others (myself included) wanted it to be a ROY denim exclusive. A chance for all folks that have received their ROY denim (and duck to be inclusive of myself) to show it off.

Yes, that was the whole point, I thought.
