  1. If you are talking about the duck, I usually wear a 32x34 (I like the cuffs) and ROY made me a 33x35 and after shrinkage the shit was perfect. Measures 32 x 33.75 afterwords.

It will be interesting to see if ROY can come up .

Actually, I meant the denim. Looks like you are going to be the only lucky owner of ROY's duck pants for a while, which I suppose is as it should be.

I saw some people here suggesting going true to size for the denim- it didn't end up cinching your waist after soaking? The thought of trying to stretch out a size 30 to a 32 is daunting... I don't see these being a stretchy as APCs.

  2. I'm going to place an order for a pair this weekend, but wanted to ask those of you who have gotten a pair about the measurements.

My actual waist size seems to be a 33, and a variety of jeans I measured that fit me well (and in the same general cut as ROY's seem to be) measure at about 32 x 31.

I like a fairly snug fit, so was thinking of ordering 33 x 34, that squares with ROY's advice and I think with what I've read here.

Does that sound like the best bet?

  3. shut the fuck up,roy!

who told you that LVC jacket from jstav was a bargain?

looks like a grown man tries to squeeze into a kids one...

fuck off, tidy up your bloody arty hippy-flat and CLEAN YOUR MIRROR!!!

Oh, you. I don't think I'm speaking to you.

I'm hiding in my arty-hippy flat trying to hide my tears behind my fuckin' homo glasses.4566005923_54095ae5cd.jpg

  4. rrnrswitch, you fashion-whore, no one even cares about your new Carhart work pants. I was cutting grass in a pair just like that earlier today, All you need are a few grass stains and yours will look just like my work pants. Got mine for 29.95 at Ace hardware, if you need a backup.

    Grumble.

  5. Those look great, RNR. I wonder if he has some grey selvage duck...

Edit: Just contacted Roy, and he says he's only making them out of indigo denim at this point. Guess we have to wait...

    I got the same reply.

I've lost track of the "covet" thread, so I'll just say here: A big fuck you to you, rnrswitch, for having the only Roy duck jeans on the planet right now. But I suppose you deserve them, since this was all your idea in the first place.

Damn you! Makin' me want things I can't have. Mumble.

Still, his regular jeans look really awesome, And there's something about Roy that just makes me trust him...

  6. Wore this today:

    KTH shirt

ROY Selvage Cotton Duck jeans (Just got them yesterday!)

    Alden Roy boots.

Now I know how this might look. I am not infatuated with ROY666. It just look like that from the names of my clothes.

Damn! I love the way you kept that under wraps for a true Sweet Dee "Surrpise Bitches" moment.

    Awesome jeans, great fit.

I'm so impressed, I'm not even going to take that bait, rocknrollswitchblade.

  7. The very limited Japanese edition of the 501z (the forebearer of the 551z) from years ago had a gripper zipper, does anybody know what zipper they use on the current lvc 501z?

    .

There were some zippered lvc at Unionmade the last time I was in, but I don't remember what model they were. I'll stop in and look this weekend.

  8. Well Roy666, I actually didn't have them long enough to find out. I sold them cuz they didn't fit and I got them like super cheap ($25) on the bay. Seems somebody didn't know what they were selling. Sold them for a pretty penny though.

God, you've gotta love the bay, when you don't hate it.

  9. A question for those who have bought jeans from the 2010S/S LVC run: what's your opinion of the new stuff after a bit of wear? It seemed like the folks in Belgium had revamped some of the standard models, judging by some of the comments I heard when this stuff hit the market.

Dr_Heech- I'm particularly interested in what you think about the new models- I remember you comparing LVC with Sugarcane and noting that the Sugarcane issues were superior in quality. Do the new LVC releases even the field some?

  10. Paul T;2262726. If I can masquerade as a 40s US soup kitchen patron, as crownzip once accused me so cruelly, you can pop a bowler hat atop that immaculate coiffure.

which is pretty good going with those short legs.

'40s soup kitchen patron, eh. Heh heh. That's pretty good. I'll have to +rep CZ for that.

  11. Great looking WWII P-Coat. Does it still have the label inside? If so, the January 2009 issue of Free & Easy has photos documenting the subtle differences in labels of the ten button P-Coat from the 1920's thru the 40's. Check it out as you may have an older jacket than you realize.

Thanks, Crownzip. I haven't seen that issue of Free & Easy, maybe I'll look for it this weekend.

The label is still intact- I remember dating this coat to the late '40s using the Fedora Lounge guide, but the details are kind of fuzzy in my head now.

Thinfinn- those '44s look perfect. How'd you size them?

  12. By the bottom of the hill the runners have done maybe 5 miles. A few of them are struggling. Not these gents. I like this look for a runner. I can see it working for a few SuFu'ers. Roy, Florian??

I don't think I could pull it off, but Florian, definitely, would look dapper.

    Did the Penguin escape?

  13. Post soak 47's:

I love the jeans but I have 2 qualms:

-Insane leg twist on my left leg (~3" shifted towards center) the pics don't do it justice. I like leg twists on vintage Levi's but the leg twist already seems pretty extreme and I don't see it getting better in the future. Also, it bothers me how the left is twisted and the right isn't.

-Second, the inseam is way too long. Does anyone know of a place to get them shortened and chain-stitched in the Midwest. Does context do it? I live pretty close to them.

jwsach- you have to let the leg twist go. Every LVC I've had shows leg twist, and always more on the left leg, for some reason. Like Erk said- learn to love it.

Looks like an alright fit to me, or like it will be when they're not hitched up. If you have muscular thighs, though, that could be tough with '47s, which have the thinnest cut thighs of the LVC. Going up stairs won't be fun.

jstavrin- thanks! And yes, there will be pictures.

  14. Today my jeans worked in a garden with an occupied hummingbird nest.

Nice shots, This Sunday & PaulT. Paul, funny how that box you got for your GF's shoes turned out to be sort of an awkward shape for shoes, but perfect for folded-in-half jeans. Maybe a vacuum cleaner for her next birthday?
