  1. I've always called them suede trucker jackets, don't know that they have any more specific name.

I see the '60s version often go on the bay for usually just under or at $100- the '50s version, which I think you have there, generally goes for more.

  2. ^jlaz- Levi's made slightly different versions of that jacket from the '50s through the early '70s.

The shorthorn label was used in from the early '40s through the '50s, I think, so that jacket may be from farther back than '63.

Awesome posts, all, Daniel! You're going to miss Africa, aren't you?

I'll just throw this out there, not particularly at D since a lot of people have been doing this lately- I'm really not a fan of people making their pictures just a little (or a lot) larger than everyone else's (640pixels wide). It probably sounds like a good idea, but all it ends up doing is making me zoom out so I can see the whole picture, so I end up seeing them the same size anyway, but with the text illegibly small.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky.

  4. A vintage store. SF has some of the best vintage shops in the country. Hard to find a real bargain, but amazing to look through. These were a pretty good deal, I think, $35 each.

  5. Another German-made shirt I found at the same place. Looks to be older, maybe 1930s? I can't figure what this was intended for. It looks sort of like a bib-front dress shirt, but the material is kind of coarse. I would guess a night-shirt, but there are spaces for shirt studs at the collar and cuffs, kind of formal for sleep wear. The buttons are really cool- cut out of actual shell. You can see the curve and part of the rind on each button. The shoulders are elaborately pieced together.

  6. It is sad that this thread has come down to this . . . .

Mind you, Roy's pantaloons could go on there :D

    .

Also, 201s, 333s, 646s, 505s, balloons and cihinos. Think of all the glory you'll be missing, Paul.

Nice post of the 22s. I never have seen much about the 27s- How did they go wrong?

  7. Roy i had a pair i bought and returned a few years back. they were indeed an inch over in the waist but very trim everywhere else. i found these tricky to fit because of the cut and ultimately returned mine.

    Thanks.

So the waist fit you okay, but too trim elsewhere? Was the rise especially low?
