One of LVC's very finest efforts. A beautiful reproduction of the first pleated-front jacket circa 1879, predates the 506 and is actually a more complex and beautiful item. Made from heavy weight plain selvedged Japanese denim, fully lined in heavy cotton blanket. An awesome distressing job, quite natural looking. From 2006.

Never worn, all distressing was factory done, including the frayed cinch end and lack of buckle.

Buy it now before some A-hole gets in and tries to turn it around on ebay for $269.99.

  3. ^I checked some recent LVC stuff- I believe that the tag on yours (with the scissors icon) started in 2010, and the date on all of mine is on the second numbers line underneath the digits in parenthesis, So yours should have been manufactured on 4/3/2010. Perhaps they made two different batches that year.

  4. You're right. Using Dr.Bronners and stuff like that is the foolproof way to wash drys, but, to be honest, I only use eco soaps for the first 2 or 3 washes. All my worn in jeans are washed frequently with regular washing powder- nothing bad happened. Uh, and I've also washed my 55's outside out by mistake, nothing happened, they're looking great.

    Just to play devil's advocate-

I used to work at a hydro shop that also sold some houseplants, and the owner always told the greenhouse not to spray the plants with horticultural oil or soap (both of which are/contain contain oil) before shipping them (The oil makes them shiny and healthy-looking). When I asked her why, she told me that the oil treated plants got dirty faster, as the dirt adhered to the oil film, and they were therefore harder to clean afterwards.

As Bronner's does leave a slight oily film, even after rinsing -my face can attest to this- I would would guess, and my own anecdotal experience agrees, that denim washed in Bronner's or another oily soap gets dirty faster after a wash and the dirt adheres more than if it were washed with, say, Woolite or another mild non-oil -based soap.

  5. The chambrays do look really nice.

The jacket as well. I guess that is the one Christophe has been wearing. Funny how all of his worn clothes look as if they were worn in by Popeye.

In the best possible way, of course.

  6. Been meaning to upload these pictures from the Levi's headquarters...I believe some might have been posted by another member before but figured I'd throw these up as well...

Aho- what did you think of the new addition to the Vault- the mannequins wearing contemporary outfits labeled "Similar to a look featured by a cast member of Glee"?

    Historic stuff, no?

Much better than the 1901 duck jumper display it replaced.

  7. you leave a camera in your left backpocket all the time? the denim is really starting to show some great potential after 7 months. great looking. i wonder how they will look at the end of the year or even after 2 years.

just curious, anybody has any plans about what they will be wearing after this is over? or are you guys gonna continue with these till they fall apart?

I have some 555 '55s that I've been waiting to wear, and also want to put some wear on the LVC Pantaloons. But I think the RxC will continue as my work pants until they are in danger of falling apart.

Rnrswitch- amazing that the coins in your change purse haven't shifted at all. Should be a really interesting fade. Good looking jeans overall, in fact.

  8. Interesting bit of red fabric you have sewn into the rear pocket seam. I suppose this is to differentiate your product from possible imitators?

Might I suggest some sort of pocket decoration to further make your product stand out. Maybe something to indicate freedom and the Americana roots of your design- maybe something which suggests a soaring bird of some sort.

Not really sure about the age of this Carhartt jacket, it's really faded and beat up.

Carhartt switched to that label in the mid-'70s.

killer b- I'd love to see how the cleanup pans out on that holdall.
