  1. Thought I'd get SuFu's take on the Fjallraven Greenland jacket before I buy. I live in SF, so I don't need crazy warm. I want something solid for every day wear, rain-functional and comfortable for biking.

Anyone have experience with this jacket? Wondering how it fares in the weather...I know Fjallraven's all about the wax on the G-1000 fabric, it would be cool to hear from someone with first hand experience.

I don't have the greenland but I do have the Oban jacket in Tan. Well made jacket, durable and they fit well. The come very lightly waxed but not enough for real rain. If you want it to be waterproof get a few bars of the wax and go at it. It takes a while after waxing for it to soften up again. It gets really super krinkly but I love mine now... oh and invest in a heat gun. soooo much faster than using a hair dryer.

  2. Does anyone else here have a Fenix PD30?

I am having some problems with mine. It doesn't seem to change brightness anymore. When I switch it to turbo it is the same bright as normal and when in normal mode and i tap the button to increase the brightness it stays the same. It still flashes under strobe and will still do the sos but it just doesn't get any brighter.

Could I need new batteries? I am a bit of a noob so I don't know how these better flashlight react when low on battery. I am used to it just shutting off one day.

  3. Yeah the shop is a five minute walk from my work. Had a nice talk with Matt Robinson (mr. klaxon howl) about a bunch of random stuff. He seems like a really chill dude. I would highly recommend checking out the shop.

  4. Picked up another Klaxon Howl shirt today. I love their flannel stuff and the fact that the material is milled here in Toronto and the shirts are sewn here adds to their appeal. The colour is shit in the picture. It is a really dark forest green.

  5. We to the other Nomad in Toronto today and picked up two more Gitman Vintage shirts. They were 60% off this time. I also grabbed some Malin and Goetz Shampoo (love this stuff). I then hiked it over to Klaxon Howl and picked up a forest green flannel shirt and their Frontlines pictorial (http://stockroom.inventorymagazine.com/product/front-lines-br). Good day overall. I love the Klaxon Howl store. It has so much character and is full of vintage clothing and antique war stuff intermixed with their own line. The shirt is supper soft but tough and the pictures don;t do the colour justice.

  6. ^ aw fuck, I bought the black timex oversize camp watch. I wouldve definitely picked up the same watch as yours if I saw it but I dont recall ever seeing it there?

it was at both stores in the display cases. i saw one at the richmond store today so they still have them.

  7. TNT in Toronto has all their junya stuff 40% off FYI. They still have parkas and cardigans and the like. Would have taken a parka but still too much for me.

  8. i'd give my left nut to get nigel cabourn but that would be for me and is far to expensive to sell. hell i think my boss would enjoy the wholesale pricing himself but buying is not shopping and we have to pick what we can sell. the cheap mondays we have are just filler really and can go. the brands i have on my list for are below. thanks for your insight. work in progress right now. we will probably pick up two or three and drop two or three of what we have now.

acne (for some more out there stuff without being too crazy)

apc (less the jeans and more the shirts and knits)

    albam

reigning champ (one or two sweats)

    3sixteen (denim, jackets, shirts)

    gitman vintage (oxfords)

    fillipa k

gant rugger (nice plaids, love the varsity jacket)

  9. I am looking at price points at the same level as say APC or Wings and Horns. You will see more Fjallraven in Toronto in the coming months. My company just signed a distribution deal with them. We are thinking of going a little deeper into the APC line. Reigning Champ came up because I don't think anyone carries it here. I do like the 3sixteen stuff so i may add that as a possible.

The store has done a pretty bad job before me of growing with its customers and we tended to stick with the brands we distribute so I am trying to widen the perspective a little and dropping dated shit like Penguin and Ben Sherman and cheap crap like Cheap Mondays.

  10. Hey guys, so I am the buyer and manager at Motoretta down on college. I have been tasked with finding some new clothing brands to carry in the store. We have a few ideas for what we want to carry for Fall 2011 but I though I'd check and see if anyone has any of their own ideas. Is the anything you think Toronto could use or use more of? Is there a particular brand you would like to see in Toronto?

Let me know. Any insight would be appreciated.

  11. Hit up the Nomad sale during my lunch hour today at the shop. Most of their was 50% off which was actually pretty great. Lots of Wings and Horns and CDG on sale. I got these two Gitman Vintage shirts and the Timex watch for like $250 all in.
