I heard that the assignment of contest jeans were intercepted by airborne pirates en route from Japan to Germany. Beautiful Freak and Max Power are frantically running up some replacements at home on their Singers, desperately hoping that no-one will notice...

A pity. I'm sure that the sales will lift with the addition of belt loops.
I'm not sure whether the loops will lift things or just help hold them up...

^ Go to http://loomstate.co.uk/ and click on the link on how to size LVC 1947.
Or just send a pm to Paul t, who will be only too pleased to advise.

Jyoni,
Not cheap but you asked. 1983s in a 38W:

There are probably many skills, artisanal touches, and recipes for making things (like the correct recipes for mixing up natural and synthetic indigo) that are very hard to recreate or reverse engineer — given that the skilled craftsmen who had this knowledge are probably mostly no longer with us.
LVC have done a remarkable job with this recreation, and the worry is that some of that some of this knowledge may now be lost for a second time.
Edit: I suppose I'm late to this news but I just noticed that the 1915 is also no longer available. It's not on the LVC website.
Replaced by the 1922 - basically a 1915 with belt loops

Madder, check your pm.

Thanks so much maynard. Someone beat me too that one and they are no longer in stock. Even Aero no longer have the 34" 34".
Sorry to hear that madder, if I find any more I'll pm you.

I believe that would be Dayton boots. Much less pretentious and more fairly priced, although they too got involved with a certain fashion brand for a collaboration ($700 "work" boots, anyone?).
Interesting, their blurb on the site makes me want to know more. I don't follow this thread that religiously but don't believe I've seen Daytons on here before. It'd be good to hear from some owners of those boots or have a few pictures posted.
Who was the collab with pp?

Small and hard to find is good unless the ladies are using it in reference to the contents of your underpants!

All the Amsterdam-based staff will be retrained to work as shop assistants in the new red tab store...

That needs digestion and also a fuller explanation. Sounds like big news, but in practical terms to the consumer could simply mean that LVC and made & crafted become more widely available at stores that sell regular Levi's.
Looks like Levi's is moving out of the poetry business to pay its bills...
Edit: thanks min2max, I forgot the centralisation/management cost-saving element.
This could also potentially pave the way for lvc manufacturing operations to be integrated with the mainstream manufacturing - LVC jeans made next to standard red tabs in 3rd world sweatshops. It'd definitely save more money.

Thanks so much! According to paul's guide they may be an inch over the tag size — if so they will be fine.
Same size here for less:
http://www.b-74.de/men/brands/levi-s-vintage-cloth/levis-vintage-clothing-1937.html
If you are a 34 measured waist, buy a 34. They are slightly oversized (may depend on year of production but my 2007s are approx 1.5" bigger than tag size - get the retailer to measure them) and will stretch out, especially if you don't wear a belt. I'm a 32-33 and have 2 pairs in size 32.
Hope that helps, let me know if you need more info.

Just when I finally thought I might get my hands on a pair of these jeans...
The miners jeans available at Orvis.com are not on the Orvis.uk website.
It means having to pay international shipping and customs etc, which don't apply from Orvis.uk
I think it has more to do with Orvis than RS as the racer t is available on the UK site.
I contacted Orvis, apparently they value my feedback.
Who needs the miner jeans when you can get these vintage Montana '1917s' from orvis.uk?

here's the big E cords i picked up last week - i'm a little bitter they don't fit, as they're incredible - shiny black print on black cord, and great condition.
Yeah baby! Cord-tastic!

I think you like to wear your art on your sleeve!
In front of a Piet Mondrian. Wish I was wearing something color blocked.

madder, 1937s are currently discontinued by LVC so won't be restocked anywhere. What size are you looking for?

Levi's Vintage Clothing
in superdenim
Posted
This is not directly related to the closure of the separate Levi's XX division and its amalgamation into the wider brand, but may be a reflection of the lack of attention to detail in the mainstream company (or might just be a typo!).
Taken from the Levi's eu website:
"XX' in industry phrasing means Double Extra Heavy. It first referred to the denim, used on 501® Waist Overalls, that we bought from the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company from 1873-1915. Since 1922 the 501® has been made exclusively from pre-shrunk Cone Mills red selvage with the guaranteed XX of the North Carolina looms which signify premium quality."
