Don't really think it matters what machine used as long as you wash on a gentle setting ( from my experience anyway )
Having used both within the past year, I definitely think the top loader (which uses a lot more water), gets clothing cleaner, and gets all the shrink out of raw jeans with fewer washes. But as long as you're using gentler settings with little or no spin, neither should damage jeans.
Something I have noticed, even with regular washing, the more worn jeans get, the smellier they get (using fragrance free detergent might play a role in that). After 250+ days of wear (and six or seven washes along the way), within a few days of washing my WH 1001 they start to smell like dirty jeans again. Nothing so bad that someone else should notice, but when I skip wearing them for a day or two, I do notice they smell different from new jeans when I go to put them on. I can't image how ripe a pair of jeans are after going that many days with no washes.

Just looked at the Warehouse 800, looks like a winner to me. Any tips on where to buy them who take PayPal?
Warehouse directly, if you're fine with a 31.5" inseam post wash.

Of the ones you listed, I'd go with the FC 1101 (or 0105 depending on how much taper you want). They're on my short list for replacing my WH 1001 as the DWC starts to wind down in 2017.

Good luck with those once they hit water. I can't believe BiG let you out the door with those. Even with just a cold soak I doubt you'll be able to get those on. And that rise...

Don't know about the heavier stuff, but the standard weight FC denim stretches very easy. You've got two choices, throw in the towel and sell them before you do anything else to them. Give them three or four warm soaks over the next few weeks, stretching the waist out by hand while they're still wet. That will give you a chance to lose as much inseam as possible, while keeping the waist as big as possible.

Is there a brand producing consistently better results than Warehouse, or is it just the guys and gals who are wearing them?
I love that this pair has been washed enough to bring down the level of contrast. That is the 1000XX denim at it's peak.

I think BiG's measurement are wrong for the thigh on the OW 1000. Raw is 13.5", and I can't see them shrinking a full 3/4" down to 12.75". That would make them as narrow in the thigh as the 800, and we know that's not right. The 1001 is in between the 800 and 1000 leg width, so I'd suspect 13" is the narrowest the thigh will get on the 1000, and it then stretches out from there.

jesus christ, page 203 brought the heat. Makes me want Warehouse all over again. Wish my 415's fit a bit looser...
Ever considered the 1000? Kinda surprised Warehouse's "Extra-Exceed" model seems to have zero interest here. Classic late 40s cut without the sizing/cut issues of some other brands.

Some more photos of the new 1105 on the staff blog. From the translation, sounds like it will be wider in the thigh and narrower at the ankle than the 1001 (correct for a 551ZXX repro). And it will be made out of the 1001 denim. Not sure how a zipper is going to handle the way that denim shrinks.

Thanks for all the updates guys. Looking at Aho's close ups on this page, I'm expecting to see great things from this denim.

Cursed be my weakness. Just took the plunge and ordered a raw 1101 in 34 via okayamadenim. i asked them to hem to a final length of 85cm, assuming that the raw length would have to be around 90 cm. Let's see wether they can work with that.
Good choice. I don't think the 1108 would work for you going off of how your WH800s fit.

Am I reading correctly that the rise on the size 36 is 26cm? I don't know why so often a low rise (historically incorrect) is put on 60s style jeans.

I've looked at shipping internationally recently, figure over $50 to ship a pair of jeans USPS Priotity Mail to the other side of the planet.
Glad to see these have been found and the tour is back on.

Two vastly different cuts. The 1002 is much lower and slimmer fitting in the same tagged size, and has Lee details. 1003 has levis details

Shouldn't be an issue. Did the same thing to my LVC '22s I use as my hunting pants and rough use and washing hasn't hurt them.

Fit looks perfect, including the chopped off hem. It's something different, and suits the 60s style of the jeans.

your photos are so epic that I think your accidental double post is right. Don't edit or I'll edit my reply with a quote haha!
out of all of those the 700's just pop out for that extra bit of greatness!
Thanks! Of the three denim types, IMO the 1000XX (used in the 700 and 1003XX) is the easiest to get results from, especially if you're going for the high level of contrast. I think the 1001 and 1001XX have more character to them though. Tough to describe, but I feel like the 1000XX denim fluffs up more when washed, and is a little more flat and even than the other two. Both the 1001 denims have this subtle puckering, here and there, width-wise down the leg. You'd almost think they're small whiskers trying to form, but they're not.

You can snip suspender buttons off pretty easy, leaving a small hole behind that usually doesn't get any worse with washing.

how do the 710's compare to SC66? They are my favorite jeans right now but am looking for something a little slimmer. My 34 is good in the waist and pretty relaxed everywhere else
I haven't encountered any other brand of jeans that fits similar to the SC66 (other than maybe MF's Lot 64). It's a tough cut to pull off, with the narrow waist and full cut everywhere else. Just about everything else you'll look at is going to be slimmer. I haven't gone looking for the 710's measurements to compare, but I'd expect in the same tagged size the 710 will have up to an inch less rise and thigh compared to the SC66.

Thanks guys! Gonna give it my best, but I think the heavier weight guys are going to have an advantage overall. I'm going to continue wearing them five days a week until my first year is up May 7th, so I reach 275 wears for the first year. After that, I'm planning on dropping back to 3 to 4 days a week so I finish at 450. I wanted to hit 500, and still might depending on how these hold up, but I can already see them wanting to start down the same road as my LVC '55s from the cultizm contest (worn too much). So, while I'll be cutting back to preserve something that will be wearable 13 months from now, the guys in the heavier jeans should be able to shovel on the coal.

Thanks Maynard. Right now my 1001 and 1003XX are my best fitting pair of the four, so they're my favorite. 1001XX is my favorite denim, with the 1001 not too far behind.

Warehouse 1001, 250 days of wear. Gave them another wash over the weekend. Will have the wear at the crotch professionally darned at some point, but for the time being patched with SC1966 denim will have to do.

I just think it's cumulative. You wear something 60 to 90 times and then wash it, especially on a colder, gentler cycle, it's not 100% clean.
