  1. I have another opinion: seems like my interest in denim is diminishing for a while now. I've tried most brands / cuts I like, there's not much innovation or new stuff going on and I know how most pairs will turn out faded. When I started 7 years ago there was a lot of curiosity even regarding the bigger brands, but now we all can get our stuff with ease from japan, to cheap prices, sold by english speaking sellers or at the local shop in our town.

Not sure where this will lead for me, maybe there'll be a time when it gets interesting again, but I find myself not reading or posting that much anymore. Contests and World Tours sadly are a bit overdone by now as well.

(I write this in a bad mood, though haha).

At some point, no matter how much you like something, everything gets old.

You bring up an interesting point, about curiosity.  I think a big part of the male shopping experience is the research into a product.  You may not wind up buying a product, but the investigation into it and competing products is part of the experience, and quite possibly the most enjoyable part of it.  We like the pursuit better than the attainment.  So, when you've got guys who've been here three to eight years, there's not much to research or pursue anymore.

  2. Man, those action packed jeans might do the trick!

In the mean time I've been cheating on my Ooe's with my Roy's and they are coming along pretty well.

Tempted to switch this late in the competition but not sure that would be advisable or not...

If you're going to do it, I'd do it now.  Find one good pair and stick with it for 17 months, you'll be good.

Would have to go back and look at the fit pictures, but aren't your Ooe's and Roy both a little tight in the thigh?  I'd assume that's where the wear problems are coming from with the Ooe's.

  3. Thanks guys, I think that answers my question!

The other jackets I have (Mister Freedom blouson de quart, Iron Heart heavy award coat, SExIH type III, SExDehen varsity)  are quite warm, and since it doesn't really get very cold here I've been looking for an in-between jacket.

I think it'll be the M-65 most likely. Just going to wait a bit since it's still in the 90's here.

I've also been wanting to incorporate that nice shade of olive green into my closet.

Not sure if you're still looking for a jacket, but I see the average low during the coldest months in Austin is in the low 40s.  You don't need anything too heavy.

$700 for an M-65 is pretty outrageous. There's vintage jackets on ebay every day, and you can get a Buzz one with liner for less than the McCoy's.  If you want to drop that kinda dough, I'd look at McCoy's alpaca lined blue zip front deck jacket or a tanker jacket.

  4. Never tried, and I know some items (tabs, tabs) they don't ship to the US, so I've just gone through BiG.  I feel their mark up is usually pretty reasonable for answering any questions and making sure the product arrives safely.  The price they quoted me on the MW jeans wasn't that much more than the price listed on WH's website.

  5. Great fit on those 1001.  If it wasn't for the shorter inseam, I think a lot more guys in the US would be wearing that model.

Just a heads up before you put too much wear into them, the inseam is going to shrink another 1/2" to 1" with a couple more washes. Might want to give them another wash before combs and whiskers start setting and wearing in.

  6. Then again, IH doesn't scream motorbikes and tough guys when you just look at the jeans themselves. The branding does.

Same with the flat head. I love the jeans but I'm no rockabilly greaser.

I'm wondering what's Rockabilly about FH?  Maybe some of the shirts, but IMO the 3005 is their only jean that could be described as "Rockabilly".

FYI, my experience at Viva Las Vegas and couple other Rockabilly weekenders, most of the guys just buy STF 501s.  The majority don't invest as much in their denim as they do in the rest of their wardrobe.

  7. Hi setterman

You are a font of knowledge when it comes to Warehouse denim - I've been a lurker for a very long time, but back in the day it was you and Aho that provided me with the impetus and information to purchase my Warehouse jeans.

I only wished I had copped a pair of Duck Diggers back in the day.

These jeans still haunt my dreams.

Please carry on spreading the good word.

    Cheers

Thanks!  I hope any advice or comments I gave led you to a satisfying purchase!

  8. We may see yet another sneak release but who's to say at this point. I feel lucky enough to have picked up the 1004XX's that were a limited release earlier this year (not necessarily anniversary related, but new denim and a rare model), but like you setter, I've been waiting for a glorious Lee WWII cut and it'll likely be my next pair, even if "slimmed" down to 1001 cut proportions. Checking the pair on BiG's insta, it lacks the official Lee branding which is probably a good reason they can change things up, and hopefully at a lesser price since they don't have to pay Lee royalties to use the branding. Now if I can only get out of these Ooe's which seem to be glued to my legs permanently.... ;)

I'd pay the extra for Lee branding!   :)  Would love a proper mid 50s 101Z.

I hope the new jean coming out in the spring isn't just a 1001 with Lee details. It should be pretty much like the "Housemark" jean they did a year or two ago.

  9. So are the 1003XX, 1003SXX, and the Mongomery Ward jeans going to be part of their staple now? Or is it going to be just a one-off thing? Also the 1003XX is made with the banner denim right?

I believe the 1101, 1003XX, 1003SXX, and the Montgomery Ward jeans are all 20th Anniv. The MW jeans are most likely just being made this year, and the other jeans are only being produced in their current configuration and details this year.

The 1101 and 1003XX are RHT 1001 denim, the 1003SXX is 1000XX denim, and the MW jeans are LHT 1001 denim.

  10. Hi Blue Nemo

I think Warehouse make some of the best jeans around, their cuts and denim are superb, especially the 1001.

So yes I might just cop for another pair- are the new 1001's drastically different in style?

1001 is basically unchanged since it's introduction a couple years ago.  The earlier 1001XX is a different cut.

As for the 20th Anniv jeans, they're out.  1003XX, 1003SXX, and the Montgomery Ward jeans.  Not what most of us were looking for, but that's it.  The MW jeans have grown on me, but that vintage of a cut isn't where my tastes are going, so I'm not going to drop that amount of money just because the LHT 1001 denim sounds pretty cool.

I am interested in the Lee WWII jean Warehouse has planned for spring made of RHT 1001. I see on Instagram though that BiG said its fit is similar to the current 1001.  That concerns me because other than the denim, I don't know that anything about the 1001 is appropriate for a WWII Lee 101B.  From Warehouse's current standard offerings, IMO the 800 or 100XX would be closest in shape to a 40's 101B.

I've asked before, I'll ask again, has anyone here picked up any of the Copper King jeans? If the above mentioned Leepro doesn't work out, I'm thinking of picking up the size 34 CK991 since it's just a hair smaller than my 1001.

  11. Rigid 501 '54 in size 33x34, unwashed since they'll be too small if i wash them.

    waist 34,6

That's where the raw 800 starts too in a size 33.  If the 54s can't handle a cold delicate wash, the situation shouldn't be any better with the 800s.  I'll wait for other guys to chime in, but if you want to be able to throw your jeans in the wash, a 34 may be the way to go, or a different cut.  I think the size 33 1000XX starts with a little more room in the waist than the 800.

  12. What model LVC are you referring to?  What is it's tagged size, and what was it's pre-wash measurement?

The 33 will probably work in the 800 since it's no problem for Warehouse denim to stretch back out an inch or more, but knowing what jeans you're currently dealing with, and how you want your 800s to fit, will help.

  13. @setterman. i never experienced anything like that. surprisingly it was the contrary for me. with the clothes i wash in top load, i don't have much wash options to choose from, whereas my front load give me an array of options from wash type, rinse amount, spin speed to temperature of water.

I have all those options with our new top loader (wash type, temp, load size, extra rinse), just no control over spin speed. That's dictated by wash type (whites, bulky, regular, permanent press, delicate, etc).

The problem with the old front loader was it didn't use much water, and just flopped the clothes around.  IMO, it didn't get garments clean. I know the top loader uses a more water, but we have our own well, so we don't care.
