  1. You're probably right, TT! I should have specified that everyone read the thread on SF prior to asking questions here. This goes for you, lance! :)

I'm finding out what colors are available right now, and I'll ask for everyone's measurements in a week or so. Meanwhile, we need to iron out how the shirts will be designed. Watch for an online poll in a few days.

  2. Alright, I've set up a thread on styleforum about the MTM chambray workshirt group buy.

I'll probably run the group buy out of SF rather than in two places. If you aren't or don't want to be a member there, I'd be happy to answer questions or respond to PMs here. Just a reminder- each shirt will be made to measure based on your measurements!

  3. I had it made by a guy who is starting up a new business. I'm actually setting up a group buy with him soon, so more info is coming... BTW each shirt in the group buy will be MTM.

  4. WellAell said tmadd. Vintage clothing interests me greatly, but rarely can I ever wear any due to my tall lanky build. I never have found and probably never again will find amother clothing label that is so brilliantly designed (e.g., taking authentic bits here and there and putting them together to make something truly unique) and meticulously constructed (thank you, TOYO) out of materials that are very true to the 'vintage' character of the garment. Not to mention that they actually fit me well! So, if getting excited about stuff like that might give the perception that I might be a brand whore, I am ok with it.

  5. if anybody has seen the "Rider's Dungarees" in person could you please tell me what the back pockets are like. no pics of them yet. it might be a deal breaker. thanks

I think this is the most we've seen so far... not much.

  6. the trouble with designing clothes in Hollywood is, all your friends are in Hollywood and say, "Gee Stars on a jacket look awesome!" And you'll sell them to people in Hollywood for huge sums of money. But nobody outside of Hollywood will want them.

That's probably why it is also being offered without the stars and (I think) patches on the back.

  7. Cheers, guys. JSFU, Chimala is a Japanese workwear brand that was formed by a couple people from 45RPM. My jeans are a one-wash straight leg. The denim is pretty amazing. This was the first time I wore them, and they were still a little crispy after the soak.

Chimala is pretty hard to find in the US. They don't have a website with stocklists, either. The only shops I know of that carries their stuff are Lark and Dutil in Vancouver and Drinkwater's in Cambridge, MA. Here is the thread on them, which isn't very helpful.

*I haven't actually worn this, but was just trying it on. It was made with the same selvage red chambray that Flat Head uses in their shirts. I'm going to put this shirt up for sale in the next couple of days because I have a second one on its way to me. This one didn't quite match my measurements.

  9. For the record, some of the MFSC line IS actually made in America. I'd say it's split about 50/50 between JP and USA made.

Ah, I didn't realize that at all. Frankly, I'd only ever buy MF from you, kiya, because I know exactly where it is coming from. It's impossible to get straight answers from J Crew on any of the MF stuff and their prices are the same if not higher. Then, things like the t shirts wind up simply being Christophe's stencils on a J Crew shirt for the same price as the deadstock tees you sell.

  10. Just out of curiosity, I called J Crew about the shirt and they said it was made in the US. So, it's essentially a J Crew copy of the original line that was made by Sugar Cane, which is what I suspected. That said, I don't think 'partnered with' was entirely off base...

  11. Hi neilfuji,

I read here that kato was bought out, but heard the other stuff from a kato retailer. So will there not be any stocklists outside of Japan?

  12. I'm not trying to defend J Crew, but I don't think they say it is a J Crew exclusive. Surely, Christophe had some knowledge that they were going to sell it, no? I realize all they are doing is taking his shirt and putting their label on it. In this case 'teaming up' really is just buying at wholesale. Yes, their marketing is retarded.

Over on SF, the guys thought it was new for FW09, and I had to explain that you, kiya, have been selling it for months and are pretty much sold out of it.

  13. ^Yeah, I heard Kato won't be available outside of Japan anymore, which is too bad. I also heard that the new parent company is not quite as attentive to detail, but I am not sure if this was just speculation. Sad news, though.
