Guys, it's not nearly a grand, it's a little over half a grand!
Wearing my denim utility shirt today for the first time this fall. God I love fall.

If any of you guys has an extra $600 to blow, here's a MF tote on Ebay.

i think i saw you hanging around the natural resource building once a few weeks ago? Did you know they are replacing the statue of the mountain man with a statue of jannet quincey lawson?
Yeah, that was probably me
I'm in NR. I had heard that about the statue, since she had just passed away and had given a lot to the college. You should say hi if you want!
Thanks mpcec and Bill....

shiiiit, I gotta follow MF himself?
Fit pics of the MFSC 7161s. After a couple solid days, there is some decent creasing, and I'm even getting lap fades in the 401 Hawaii (right) leg.
At the start, they were super tight from the hips up. They've stretched a little, but they are still ball splitters at this point. I think another 10-15 wears and they will be fitting just perfectly. I realize this isn't the looser fit others have gone for, but I prefer a more slim-straight fit. On a side note, I was watching The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen the other night (1966 Navy movie that takes place in 1926), and if it was at all accurate, those guys wore their shit tight.

I will today. I meant to a couple days ago, but forgot my camera at work. I have 2 days wear on them and they are fitting pretty well at this point.

^Great deal on the pea coat, Technicolor. Did you give the 42 a long hot soak?
0 -
Someone buy this shit! I can vouch for the pea coat being ridiculously warm and all around bad ass. Great price, too.
Technicolor- Did you give that 42 a long hot soak? If you shrank it a lot, you'd probably have to get the lining taken in a bit or it would be hanging out the back.

Woah, they are selling it unsanforized and unwashed. Potentially dangerous considering the average J Crew shopper probably has no experience with denim like that. And, they're not selling them by chest size.
Note that that is the cotton-lined version, not the wool-lined. Not too bad of a price, actually. The wool-lined pea coat was ~$900.

No! Just like on the 7161md's the back pockets are afixed such that the underneath/wraparound pockets are still left completely open. It involves some very clever sartorial skill.
That's just amazing. Although I don't expect anything less from Christophe. I'm not sure I'd need the back pockets as I only ever carry a small card case, four keys, and whatever cash I happen to have, which is usually none.

Nice pockets, Bill! Did Christophe sew right through the existing pockets and into the legs? Those 7161s don't have much wear at all on them.
I'll post a fit pic of mine this week, or weekend at the latest. They fit much better after a soak and climbing around on the jungle gym with my kid.

Smells like a cross between an oil tanker and a gasoline spill mixed with some tire scent.
At least with my tshirt, there is something oddly sweet about the smell, too. Almost makes me want to eat it.

Good to see you back, rel. I know someone who picked up that tote from J Crew and returned it because the smell was so overpowering. The smell of my tshirt was pretty strong, but it faded after a few days.

Here are some more photos for you guys. I'm about to start getting them ready for wear.

^tomorrow!
It's dark now and my indoor lighting is terrible for taking photos of these jeans.

^Good guess, tmadd! The pair of 32s from Jeans Bug, yes?
Yes, it's likely the last new pair of the original 7161 denim utility trousers left on the face of this planet. It is a little unfortunate that they are one wash, but I really can't complain! At least it's not the hard wash. The denims are still quite dark, although the Edo Ai patch has faded a bit.
At this point, they need a little 'work'. I need to let down the extra 3" so they are long enough on me, and there are heavy creases from being folded for nearly two years. Not to mention that from the crotch up the suckers are TIGHT. I could barely button them up! So, I'll probably do a cold soak while wearing them this weekend, and maybe a little inside-out ironing to try to get rid of the creasing in the legs and cuff where I let them out. After all of this is done, I'll post up some fit pics.
BIG thanks to Akuma for not only finding them, but for remembering that I was looking for them!

Hey xchen, When you get them, can you post up some current measurements?

warning... my homeboy zissou picked up something maddd awesome and WILL be posting pics in some time....
All thanks to you, man!
"In some time"?! That could be in two years! Gimme!Well, it's been waiting almost two years for me to buy it, that's all I'll say. It should arrive tomorrow or Saturday. Teaser pics up then.

I think that only people who post in this thread regularly and show interest should be sent the jeans. If the next person on the list isn't responsive, then just bump them to the bottom of the schedule.

Good to know, electrum.
They were already 50% off and new, so if anyone else wants some 1870XX in 34W, here is the link.
PRE-SOAK Measurements that I was given:
Waist: 18.25" laying flat across
Front rise: 13.5"
Back rise: 18" to crotch seam
Thigh: 13"
Knee: 10"
Leg opening: 9"
Inseam: 36"
0 -
Yeah, that's probably the best decision.

I can see your point, electrum. For reference, I prefer a fit that's not tight, but definitely not baggy. I suppose I could always give them a try and then sell them if they don't work out after the soak...
edit: Hmm, a shop in Japan is saying to expect 10% shrinkage.

Why are you selling them? They look great on you.
