Wow, that's lovely. Can you show us what the shirt looks like?

    Is it this shirt: https://www.japaneseselvagejeans.com/goods_en_jpy_818.html

    Thanks.

Yes JDelage that is the shirt.  I was lucky, I walked into the UES store in Daikanyama and the only size of that shirt on the rack was the size 5 (XXL).  That was the size I was looking for so everything worked out.  Besides the UES online store, Rivet & Hide also sell this shirt.

I saw these in person last week in Japan.  They look really nice.  I went for the KS-013 in the non wash as I wanted that Hank dyed look without paying the $400.  I'm happy with my purchase the KS-013's look awesome in person.  Very streaky look to them.

Here are a couple close up shots of the KS-013's and the 6oz hand distressed western denim shirt I purchased at the Pure Blue Japan store in Harajuku.  The staff there was awesome.  I bought the KS-013's in the raw non wash version which they special ordered for me from the PBJ warehouse.  I was in Japan for a week so I was able to wait the couple days until the jeans came in.  I went with the raw version because I felt the front rise on the one wash was a little too low.  The PBJ store only stocks the one wash version of their jeans in the shop.  I gave these jeans a 1 hour warm soak.  I've now worn these jeans for 3 days and they now have the following measurements.

    Size 36

    Waist = 38.25 / Front rise = 10.8 / Back rise = 15.5 / Thigh = 12.9 / Hem (w/ 1.5" cuff) = 8.25

I just bought the Indigo Sashiko Wabash Selvedge Flannel in a size 5 from the UES store during my trip to Japan last week.  The overall fit is good.  Maybe just slightly tight at the bottom opening of the shirt.  The look and feel of this shirt is awesome.  I normally wear Iron Heart shirts in XXL to XXXL and Flathead buffalo check flannels in size 46.

I think the heavy weight UES flannels in size 5 would also work for me.

Here are a couple closeup shots of this awesome shirt.

  6. The new nightshade deep indigo x purple denim looks exactly like the PBJ purple face denim.  Does anyone know if it's actually from the same mill?

Sure was. I went to not one but two Flathead stores in Tokyo, the Evisu store, warehouse, kapital, and real mccoys and the Flathead store in sibuya was the nicest in my opinion (although the RMC store was also really nice).

1fooknitefd - When you say you visited two Flathead shops which location was the second second shop?  Was it the Jiyugaoka store?

Did you visit the Japan Blue or the Pure Blue Japan stores?

I will most likely be heading to Japan in a few weeks.

    Thanks - Eric

  8. Just bought a new PBJ Indigo Herringbone Sweatshirt from Okayama Denim.  I'm 6'3" 210 lbs so I was glad to see they now offer their sweatshirts in a size 6.  For reference I normally wear Iron Heart flannels in either a XXL or XXXL depending on the cut.  This sweatshirt is not very thick but has some very nice details.  I've ordered product from Okayama Denim several times without any issues.  Even returned a shirt and the return went fairly smooth for an international return.  I've ordered PBJ, Japan Blue, Momotaro and SDA stuff from them.

    Chest measures about 25 inches

Center back measures about 29.5 inches

  9. Westerns typically fit differently compared to the Work Shirt versions, anyway. The sleeve length on the 130-GB is nowhere near as exaggerated as the 155. But yeah, if you're looking for a really clean fit, this season's shirts probably aren't for you.

I personally disagree with this feedback but I think it depends on your size.  I've purchased two Iron Heart shirts this season and love the fit of these shirts.  I bought the IHSH-155 in black and the IHSH-161and the fit is great.  I'm 6'3" 205 lbs and always worry some of these shirts will fit too short in the length.  The shirts this season have been great.  So maybe for the larger size shirts the fit is on and maybe a little long for the smaller sizes.

  10. I have a few Flathead shirts including the HN-52W work shirt flannel in the sax blue and the red.  I love the look and feel of these shirts.  I always worried that the Flathead Flannel shirts would be too short.  I bought size 46.  I normally wear a XXL to XXXL in Iron Heart shirts.  I'm 6'3" and weigh 205lbs.  My one complaint on their shirts is I feel the shoulder measurements tend to be too wide compared to the rest of the specs and the bottom opening on some shirts is a little narrow.  I have one shirt that has a 46 inch chest measurement with a 23 inch shoulder measurement.  I think anyone who has 23 inch wide shoulders would tend to have a bigger chest.  If you look at most of the pictures of people wearing Flathead flannels you'll notice the shoulder don't sit on their shoulders but tend to hang over the edge of their shoulder because the should width is too wide.  With all the said the shirts still look really good and feel awesome.  For my size I think the new western block check flannel in the midnight blue and black that Rivet & Hide recently received looks like it could be an awesome shirt in a size 48.

If you've been tempted to try a Flathead flannel and like Iron Heart shirts I would say go for it.  They definitely fit a little different but the quality and feel is awesome.

  11. Great review, they should arrive today, can't wait to get back home and try them on.

I have these in a size 36.  A few things I notice are:

Top block is roomy.  Almost a little baggy.

    The taper is significant

For a size 36 I believe these jeans have the tightest hem in my collection

I have yet to soak or wash mine but notice really no bleeding on my hands.  In contrast my other Japan Blue jeans (indigo X indigo monsters and military monsters) turned my hand blue from bleeding.

Fabric initially is very stiff and cardboard like

The blue on blue look is very unique.  Mike's pictures do a great job showing this.  The look of the jeans change in different lights.

Definitely a great pair of unique Japanese jeans at a great price.

I wish the leather patch was bigger to allow your belt to go underneath it.

Pocket bags could be a little deeper.

  12. Sad news. The selvedge denim market has grown rapidly with great jeans offered at a wide range of price points. I imagine it's really tough to offer jeans at a competitive price and make a living as a one man brand.

Always loved what Ande has made. He seems like a really top bloke too. Ande Whall Denim Co will be missed.

Could not agree more.  I own two pairs of Ande Whall jeans.  Both pairs look and feel great.  Sorry to see this brand go away.

  13. Would you say these are also a mistake?

    JL_MIDBOOT_02-1022x682.jpg

I would say with 100% correct lasting the heel in the back of the shoe should sit flat.  With these boots on your feet your body weight may flatten the heel.  Some lasts do have some heel spring so it's not to say every boot or shoe with a little lift in the heel is a mistake.  In the case of my Grizzly boots two pairs are completely flat while the new mid cut pair are not.

  14. anyone have the visvim grizzly mid-folk boots for this season? how are they?

I recently bought a pair of the Grizzly Mid-Folk in size 11.  The leather on these boots is great and the fit is similar to the full height pair I have.  My only issue is the outsole does not sit flat on the ground.  The back portion of the heel does not sit flat on the ground.  As someone who works on footwear for a living, I believe this is a mistake.  Think the outsole was not attached correctly.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

My other two pairs of full height Grizzly's do not have this issue.

There still wearable but for the price you expect everything to be right.

  15. It’s time to stock up on those autumn favourites and get the layers you know you’ve been missing through T shirt season. We have you covered right from the start as we kick off this first big autumn drop with some real classics.

If you’ve had a Flat Head Block Check Flannel before then you already know how good they are. If you are new to The Flat Head and are wondering what all the fuss is about, then this is an ideal opportunity to find out. Made from 100% cotton selvedge, woven on shuttle looms and brushed on the inside, this version in midnight blue/black ticks all the boxes for an impeccably fitted and crafted heavyweight flannel to see in the winter.

NB. These shirts are now available in size 48

It's awesome to hear these shirts are coming in a size 48.  The fabric and quality on the Flat Head shirts are second to none.  My only wish is that the shoulder measurements were not so wide.  I feel their shoulder measurements are too wide when matched to their chest measurements.  The shirts are still wearable and look good but I feel the fit specs on the Iron Heart shirts have a better overall balance.  This new midnight blue color looks really nice.

  16. Does Pure Blue Japan made Purple Face in their regular fit?  I love Purple Face, but would prefer to not have a slim jean. Relaxed straight tends to work best for me.

Maybe check out the measurements on the XX-010 Purple Face.  I personally do not think these are very slim.  It may depend on your size.  For example the hem measurement on the size 36 is 8.9 to 9 inches.  I wouldn't consider that slim.  I have the raw slim taper XX-014 in a size 36 and the denim is awesome.

  17. What do people think of the Japan Blue Okayama Denim collab?

I think the high taper 18oz denim with the cobalt blue weft looks awesome.  I have a pair on order.  My guess is these will look similar to the PBJ X017 but in a heavier denim and a more tapered cut.  This will be my third pair of Japan Blue denim.  So far I have not been disappointed.  I personally think they make some of the best sub $200 denim.  I've ordered several things from Okayama Denim without any big issues.  You can't beat the price with their new indigo point system discount.

  18. The first release (two jeans, loopwheeled sweaters, belts, and key hooks) for 2016 goes up April 20th.

Then the second release (watch caps, loopwheeled pocket tees, aloha shirts, and more jeans) is June 1st.

Hey Kiya is there a new online release date for Studio product?

    Thanks

  19. Need some advise guys..

    I'm a size US11.5 on vans.

Should I get an 11 or 12 for the Grizzly Mid Folk SS16?

    Thanks in advance :)

I wear a size 11 or 11.5 in Vans SK8-Hi's.  Usually a 11.5 when they have the PU style footbed Vans Vault versions).  With that I have two pairs of Grizzly boots.  One all leather FIL exclusive pair in a size 10.5 and then a suede and denim pair in size 11.  Both work for me.  I tend to wear thinner socks with the 10.5's and thicker socks with the 11's.  So I think the 11's would work for you.  I will say I was surprised that the Grizzly boot has a fairly tight fit.  The boot looks bulky but does not fit that way.  If you have a wide foot shape then you may want to size up to the 12.  In other Visvim footwear I normally wear size 11 including FBT's, Serra boots and Virgil boots.  In the Patrician boot I have a pair of 10.5's and 11's.  I hope this helps.
