  1. Yep. Also, check over on the aw contest thread. But I'd definitely follow ande's size guide. The zim cotton stretches out a lot, so I'd size down a half to a full size depending on how patient you are til it does stretch out. I'm a 33.5 to 34 waist and went with a 32 caribou.

  2. last november, from nz to nc (usa), it took about a week for me to get my pair. if i recall, it was about 5-6 days, but fell on a weekend, so I didn't get it until a monday. things might get hairy in the next few weeks, as there is news about the us postal service possibly cutting 35,000 jobs.

  3. Thanks, man! I dig their stuff but like Heller's cafe, is a bit pricey. A tee on sale is about as much as I can spring. But what a tee-- coffee insiders get a kick out of that graphic.

bf: as always, great pics and detail shots.

  4. ukeno: you're right - the rhythm section is entertaining, but they do seem a bit weird. do they just jam out for the hell of it?

tocl: erykah badu and dj qbert? that sounds like a helluva good time.

robot: sweet fit pic. where is that mural? it's pretty bangin

  5. Thanks-- I wish I had owned or handled a pair of the orrizonti era so I could give an accurate account for the differences. But yeah, I think time will tell with regard to appreciating the current fabric(s). That said, I really do like the denim on the new66.

  6. tip-off!

it was loud and rockin'. the thing about cameron indoor stadium and the cameron crazies (particularly the student section) will cheer all game long. they will taunt and cheer in unison, and it's organic. there is NOTHING like it in american sports. they give out sheets pre-game to get people ready for the chants. anyway, we were getting waxed pretty bad for most of the game, and at one point we were down 20. but it never got quiet in there, and there was just an electricity about the place-- it sounds ridiculous, but we don't give up, ever, on our team. and they pulled through by overcoming the greatest deficit in cameron indoor stadium history for the victory! we led for the first time with 2:30 minutes remaining and held on. it was pandemonium.

my friend bryant and his wife were closer to the action. as an nc state fan and she (like the majority of state fans everywhere) thought they had this game in the bag. this shot was when duke was surging and clawing their way back in the game. needless to say she was pissed. by the last minute we looked down and she had left the building. i love it! drama!

final score: 78-73, the good guys.

ande's are bona fide winners - i'm wearing these for every game i watch until we lose...

  7. @ tocl: looking forward to seeing some progress pics when you get back from your latest excursion.

noodle: your repair is better than i could do, so props to you for nutting up and doin' it yourself. you have some time, so if things go awry with the current repair, you can always send it off to a pro. hopefully, it'll do the trick.

    thursday evening: full steam brewery.

thursday, 9pm: well, fellas. as you know, i am duke alum and fan. welcome to duke and cameron indoor stadium, the mecca of college basketball (#1 according to SI, anyway).

  8. Wmgds. I thought your sizing was alright. It looked loose, but Ive always felt its a nice change of pace from the regular and slim fits I wear in other brands. But yes, you're right-- ain't nuthin wrong with holding on to a pair. Good choice.

  9. That's cool. And a decent price. I've handled their limited edition / jcrew plus wash jeans ($300+) and tees and wasn't overly impressed. I like the company a lot, but think their genius for marketing overshadows the actual quality of the product. Not to say it's bad quality, quite the contrary, but for the price, I think there are better deals to be had. Nothing new in the denim niche, I suppose.

  10. hey michael-- i've found the varvatos x converse sneaks to be a of better quality than the regular line. i remember those sick schott x converse kicks you have, too. can you comment on the quality of these shoes? i know they are without a doubt legit, but since you've got your mitts on them, i just want to hear what you have to say, b/c i'm really into these so far.

  11. i agree. i like em all - but william's stands out the most to me. the pleating on the first one is very interesting, but i love the details on the tender jacket-- the domed rivets and brass buttons are sick.

  12. great stuff guys. nothing else was going on tonight EXCEPT one of the most heated and storied rivalries in all of sports: duke vs. unc. it also produced one of the most dramatic finishes, 85-84, in favor of duke, my alma mater. we edged out a victory on a last-second-buzzer-beater-three-point-shot by our freshman phenom, austin rivers. it was an amazing finish to what really should have been a UNC win (they were the better team for most of the game). but this is what makes college basketball (and this rivalry) so great: anything can happen.

    carolina fans can suck it.

to celebrate (on top of many, many, beers):

i wish i could have gotten footage of all of us going ape shit over that last shot, but needless to say, taking photos was the last thing on my mind at the moment. as we say so often in durham: "go to hell, carolina, go to hell!"
