Taking inspiration from vintage woollen athletic jackets, Stevenson Overall Co shows what can be achieved when you are not scared to use some ingenuity and imagination in your fabric construction. The outer shell is wool, whilst the inner face is a super soft brushed cotton fleece. Keeping with the theme of pushing the boundaries of fabric, SOC also reinvent the Souvenir jacket with the Rising Dragon. Utilising a custom made indigo twill cotton, SOC has saved the traditional rayon for both the lining (which is indigo dyed) and embroidery.
And what embroidery it is too. Smaller dragons adorn the chest and sleeve while the main image on the back depicts a rising dragon. The matt fabric keeps this a toned down option for those who love the style of a souvenir jacket and their striking and evocative designs.

Slub masters Pure Blue Japan have delivered some essential restocks of both Type II denim jackets and a range of jeans.
The popular 18 oz. denim jacket is back in stock in all sizes. This fabric never ceases to amaze us for its texture and depth of character. The jacket is sanforized so will not shrink. It features a sheepskin leather patch, riveted pockets and iron buttons.
The Deep Indigo denim jacket has also made a return. Both warp and weft have been dyed indigo which results in a a deep hue and high contrast fades over time.

The Flat Head always delivers its winter flannels and Native Check shirts in December. We affectionately call this the "Santa Drop" due to its timing and level of excitement this delivery generates among all of us at the store and among our customers too.
The timeless block check flannels with herringbone weave reappear in a navy/grey colourway. The western shirt features mother of pearl snaps and a smaller collar compared with previous iterations. The work shirt version has a cutaway collar design this year. The fabric is brushed on the inside for warmth and feel appeal. The herringbone weave gives these shirts a tremendous depth of texture. What's more, they hold their shape years down the line and look like the much loved wardrobe piece they soon become. We also have re-stocks of the classic black/red buffalo check.
The Native Check shirts are available in western and work shirt cuts in red/ivory and blue/ivory respectively. The intricately woven fabric holds great depth in design and texture which only a shuttle loom can produce. These mid-weight, slim silhouetted and soft fabric shirt make for an excellent layering pieces in colder weather whilst making a lighter alternative to heavier flannels come the spring.
New from 3sixteen, and a great complement to their layering options, is the heavyweight crew neck sweater. Constructed from the same 500gsm Canadian made fleece as the hoodies, these come with the added functionality of hidden handwarmer pockets in the side seams. Available in all 3 colourways – heather grey, black and oatmeal.
We have filled any sizing gaps across the range of 3sixteen jeans and also the excellent heavyweight hoodies in all 3 colourways. If you are not familiar with these hoodies, they are an extremely versatile choice. Heavyweight, soft, warm and comfortable, they are cut with a slim fit which enables them to be easily layered under a denim or leather jacket, whilst also looking great as a piece on their own.

If you look at the la jolla, calistoga, jackson, etc etc, on the Self Edge website and elsewhere, the denims sound similar but I can't quite tell whether they're all basically the same. I get that some are sanforized and some not, but I would love a detailed breakdown of the denim they use. Thanks
The Dixon, Jackson and Calistoga are sanforized. The 717,727, 737, 747,767 all use the same 14 oz. denim and is unsanforized.

The legendary Iron Heart N1 deck jackets are back. You will struggle to find a better winter option than this. Whipcord cotton outer, Alpaca lined throughout (including the hand warmer pockets) with an additional quilted satin to the sleeves and storm cuffs, this jacket is all but weatherproof. Iron Heart has kept the design clean, simple, and functional without losing any of the classic styling that makes a deck jacket so distinctive. 3sixteen introduces a new long sleeve Henley & crew neck sweater. This is a heavyweight thermal with a waffle woven cotton construction and a triple stitched ‘never sag’ collar. Cut to a slightly fuller fit without being loose enables this to be worn as a piece on its own or as a layer. The Henley features Corozo nut buttons. All available in either black or natural (off-white).

The 3sixteen Watch Caps are available in indigo or black indigo and come with the signature removable 3sixteen pewter Concho pin. These 100% thick cotton caps are one of the best examples of this style out there.
All sizes are now back in for the Dehen Varsity jackets. 24 oz. of Melton wool make up the body and thick yet supple premium leather is used for the sleeves. Padded and quilted on the inside with ribbed collar, sleeves and hem this is a deceptively warm and immensely comfortable piece.

New from UES is the short sleeve Indigo Henley. The long staple cotton delivers a really soft yet durable finish. The yarns are rope-dyed in indigo and the fit is trim and as always with UES a real winner.
For the feet, UES have presented us with their ‘one size’ sock in grey and navy. Pretty much every customer who buys a pair of these returns for more and once you’ve worn them it's easy to see why.
For the middle, a restock of the heavy natural leather belts which darken and develop a wonderful patina over the years.
To top it off, a choice of caps – brown hunter, indigo dyed discharge Wabash hunter and a deep indigo dyed work cap.

The same cut is reflected in the D306, although for this model they have used the signature ‘pioneer’ denim so beloved of denim enthusiasts for its hairiness and fade potential. If you need any convincing, simply visit our ‘fade archive’ for some great examples of what this denim can achieve.
We also represent another showing from The Flat Head Club Label with the Field coat. A superb fitting piece, bursting with subtle and understated cut & detailing. Lined inside with TFH signature red and black flannel, the outer material is a weather resistant blend of cotton and nylon. Adjustable waist & cuffs, hidden bellows shoulders, articulated sleeves, four outside sport pockets - the lower with additional side pockets, inside hidden chest pocket and lower patch pocket, combine to make this a smart and practical option.

Black jeans always experience a surge in popularity during the colder, darker months and Pure Blue Japan are taking it seriously with the double black BB-019. Cut to the new relaxed tapered 019 pattern (higher in the rise, roomier top block and thigh, narrow hem), PBJ have chosen to sanforize this denim in order to avoid detracting from the depth of black with their usual slubby texture. Black patch, black stitching and black embroidered indigo leaf – only the redline selvedge breaks the mould.
We have also restocked the xx-18oz-013 in the super slubby fabric for anyone looking for something in a heavier weight for the colder months. Slim tapered fit, this fabric softens up amazingly in a very short period of time. Don’t wait on these – they move fast.

After last week’s superb offerings from the US based brands we have been eagerly anticipating the riposte from the other side of the Pacific and as you would expect from the Japanese contingent – it’s impressive!
The Flat Head leads the charge with some really special custom-made pieces.
The Dobby Stripe shirt in ivory and navy is a great example of this. In some places the pattern detailing is down to an unbelievable 1mm. To achieve this level without a ‘blurring’ of the fabric, the vintage shuttle looms required expert improvements and calibrations. The resulting shirt has been made with a trim fit and cutaway collar and is a perfect example of what can be achieved with old machines and modern thinking.
The next example of contemporary meets traditional is in the form of the most comfortable cardigan you are ever likely to see or feel. The Flat Head decided that only the best would do and set out to Italy in order to source some of the legendary ‘Cashwool’ from Zegna Baruffa. Treated in such a way to be shrink proof and pill-resistant, the extra fine Australian merino yarn goes through a combing process which leaves only the longest – and therefore ‘fluffiest’ – fibres for use. A modern fit, roll collar, ribbed hem & sleeves and a geometric/traditional design all come together to complete this unique piece.
Some new denim is also on the scene with the 3202 super slim high rise. A crisp and sturdy 20 oz. fabric has gone into these and it goes goes to show how well TFH can turn their hand to different weights. Oozing texture and character, we can’t wait to see a pair of these broken in. The fit is a tweaked version of the classic 3002, slim tapered with a little more room in the thigh, a higher rise and a neat taper to the hem. The front pockets have also been widened and made much more functional. These adjustments really open up the brands denim to the typically larger builds of a western audience.

This release would not be the same without representation from one of the most admired and coveted denims we have ever offered. From the narrow shuttle looms of Japan comes the Okinawa Ranch Blouse, constructed in a hairy, 14 oz. left hand twill denim comprising of 50% recycled sugar cane fibres and 50% cotton.
Everywhere you look on this jacket are subtle, yet important highlights - French vintage NOS stripe workwear twill facing for collar and pocket flap, oxidised MFSC cast buttons, copper rivets backed with leather washers to point out but a few. With a rounded, A1 style collar and a vintage boxy fit this jacket will age and fade like no other.

Mister Freedom is a brand well known for pushing the boundaries within the repro arena, taking inspiration from particular style influences and moments in time, adding a twist all of its own then spinning a whole new story. This season is certainly no exception and we are proud to represent some stand out pieces from the FW17 collection.
Most people can recognise a traditional wool Pea Coat when they see one. In collaboration with the guys at Sugar Cane, Mister Freedom has chosen to take the bones of the design and utilise a military spec 4/1 9 oz. olive cotton sateen for their Mac jacket.
This coat has details that reveal themselves with each observation and they are each and every one a delight. It comes lined with a discharge printed 50’s design plaid flannel (which also appears on the throat latch, or not depending on how you button it – your preference), corduroy pocket linings, a hidden cigarette pocket adapted to fit a device of iphone 6 proportions and with leather piping to the pocket openings.
Two great shirts also come in the form of the Nixon and the Ranger shirt. For the Nixon, Japanese made 16 wale, all cotton corduroy provides fabric for this discharge printed traditional plaid pattern in navy. Slim fitting and triple stitch construction complement details such as corozo wood buttons to the body and a stamped MFSC metal button at the collar.
With a more relaxed fit, the Ranger comes in a NOS (new, old stock) BSA olive, birds-eye pique fabric. Taking its inspiration from casual preppy styles mixed with 30’s/40’s workwear this piece has inverted box pleat pockets and cat eye buttons.

@MJF9 Yes tomorrow our FW17 order should arrive: Mac Jacket (Pea coat) style , Nixon shirt in navy corduroy, Okinawa denim jacket and olive pique Ranger shirt.

Stevenson Overall co. is on hand with some great new pieces this season, kicking off with the Quartermaster chino. With a modern, slim silhouette, constructed using the original processes and techniques of 1940’s chino manufacture, these bring the officer trousers up to date while losing none of the original integrity. These are really great fitting, based on a 1960’s Vietnam era field shirt and made using a dense poplin fabric that is surprisingly smooth to the touch. This week we welcome back the Stadium jacket from 3sixteen. This is a great weather beating transitional piece – warm, comfortable, wind and water resistant. 8 oz. of waxed cotton, heavy duty ribbed wind-stopper cuffs and collar and a soft, quilted ‘Thermolite’ lining, make this as practical as it is stylish. Slim, with a functional length to the body, the stadium cut still allows for layering with a hoody/sweatshirt etc. Available in olive and black.
The Ranch Jackets by 3sixteen launched a year ago were a great success so a new run was made for this season. Once again this style is offered in the Shadow Selvedge and Indigo Nep denim.
Brand new from Iron Heart is the Navy Cotton Herringbone Western. There are slightly different tones and textures within the colour that upon closer inspection reveals itself to be a subtle herringbone weave within the fabric. The 9 oz. shirt is brushed for comfort and warmth. Available in the slim but not overly fitted western cut with logo’d permex snap buttons.

We have noticed that when the nights really start to draw in, the demand for black denim increases. What better way to meet that requirement than with a restock of the 555-03 from Iron Heart.
21 oz. is plenty to keep you warm, although the long staple cotton used in their construction ensures maximum comfort in this slim fit jean. The denim will fade to gray in the traditional manner of black denim. The warp is black sulphur rope dyed and the weft is black reactive dyed. With time the warp will fade, but the weft will not.

Finally, we have also restocked the Iron Heart 17 oz Brown Cotton Duck Jacket in the Type 3 style.
The jacket features hand-warming pockets and brass hardware. The fabric is custom woven.

The iconic Copeland shirt from Indigofera is now available in a 14 oz. indigo denim with black weft woven in Japan. This popular dye combination results in high contrast fades over time and the fabric itself develops and appealing patina. This can be worn as an over shirt or jacket.

We also received our final ultra heavy flannel of 2017 from Iron Heart. The Glen Check comes in a grey/black colourway. These flannels are highly flexible as they can be worn as a jacket as well as a shirt in all but very cold conditions. They come brushed on the inside for extra warmth.

We have only ever heard one grumble about the Iron Heart N1 deck jackets; “I wish it was colder for longer so I could wear it more”. Iron Heart has the solution with their Whipcord work jacket. This is an amazingly versatile jacket that will transition the seasons with ease. It uses the same windproof, water repellent whipcord as its bigger brother. The collar is corduroy lined as are the hand warmer and inside pockets and the YKK zip is dual-pull. Available in Navy or Khaki.

We have a new sweater from Iron Heart that is super durable– the Extra Heavy Cotton Knit Thermal Sweater. 100% cotton in a waffle knit, this has ribbed collar & cuffs and 4 needle flat-seam construction throughout ensuring ultimate comfort to go along with the insulation from the heavyweight material. Unusually for a thermal layer, this material looks great worn as a sweater as well as being a practical under layer as required.

The Pure Blue Japan Woven Jacquard Paisley shirt has been deep indigo dyed with a paisley pattern running throughout in a variety of weaves and textures. This shirt excels in all aspects. It is guaranteed to fade beautifully as the subtle ridges to the fabric give up its colour at different rates, If you have ANY appreciation for indigo dyeing at all, this piece will delight.
It is also a very warm return for PBJ’s Woven Jacquard Patch shirt. Always popular, we have seen a good number of examples of the fading properties of this shirt, which are exceptional.

Pure Blue Japan continues to roll out new denim in the recently launched Relaxed Tapered fit. The PBE-019 (same cut different denim to the x019) is a 17.5 oz fabric that has beige tinted warp and a natural weft which results in a rusty dirt fade. The denim is woven using a thick cotton threads but at low density making it breathable to wear. This is a fit for those who like a higher rise, room on the thighs and a sharp taper.
