It is no secret that we pride ourselves on the quality of our brands and their products that we stock.
Whilst we have no intention of resting on our laurels and are always open to exploring new avenues, it takes something pretty special to makes its way into our stable. It must be of superior quality. It must have style. It should have a common direction and synchronicity with us, our store and the other brands. It should belong. Above all, it must be something we want ourselves!
A brand that we feel meets all these requirements and more is Effector eyewear and we are therefore proud to present them to you following their introduction to Rivet & Hide.
Established in 2005, Effector is a Tokyo based eyewear maker, specialising in hand made, top quality sunglasses, using materials such as Acetate and Titanium. Well known for their involvement in collaborations (Lewis Leathers, Rolling Stone, Real McCoys, Neighbourhood) with some of the best of the underground style industry names, their core range is what sets them apart from other eyewear brands.
Taking their inspiration from the ‘Beatnik’, Rock n Roll and aviator styles from across the 50’s and 60’s, before bringing them effortlessly up to date with modern twists and construction, the variations demonstrate the owners’ passion and enthusiasm for this period and its sartorial identity. These timeless frames would be as in keeping for a walk in the park as they would be at the Hidden Garden Party Festival or indeed Greenwich Village of the 60’s or a certain night in the Cavern Club, Liverpool, 1962.
We have carefully selected our favourite styles from this collection, and have included some plain glass options for those in need of adding prescription lenses.

This is a flannel close to our hearts. Back in 2013 it was the first piece we stocked that literally flew off the shelves shifting us up a gear or two in sales and giving us the courage to move from a by appointment basis to a full brick and mortar in Central London. The ivory houndstooth flannel by The Flat Head is so soft and thick they vowed never to make it again as so many shuttles broke on the loom during production.
They thankfully changed their minds and the ivory flannel with navy blue houndstooth design it is back in store in both western and work shirt versions.
The shirt has the warmth and substantial feel of wool yet also the softness and comfort of cotton of which it is made. It has a brushed lining, gusset straps and has been washed once so there is no further shrinkage.

The latest addition to our range of Pure Blue Japan jeans is the x014 with indigo dyed warp and purple weft. It comes in the same slim tapered fit as the x011/x012/x13.
The denim is super slubby which is appreciated more as it fades. The faded pair below have been worn for a couple of years.
The jeans are unsanforized and feature the trademark embroidered shoai (indigo leaf) emblem on the back pocket along with hidden rivets and deerskin leather patch.

Clint 16 oz Japanese Selvedge Jeans by Indigofera is the latest straight fit now available at the store. The denim is unsanforized (previously seen in the loomstate denim jacket of the same name). The denim has a crunchy and hefty handle and will develop some great fade pattern with wear. They shrink 1" in the waist but will stretch back out and 2.5" in length post soak.

We just received a new flannel and jacket from Iron Heart.
The 21 oz super black selvedge denim hitherto used on a range of jeans is now available in a modified type 3 trucker jacket.
The warp is black sulphur rope dyed and will fade but the weft has been reactive died and will keep its black appearance. Otherwise known as the fade to grey SBG denim.
It is longer in the arms than the indigo version of Iron Heart's type 3.The side pockets can be used internally for storage. The jacket features felled internal seams and a selvedge placket detail.
The IHSH-129 is the latest flannel from Iron Heart using an unbrushed 10 oz selvedge fabric.
The indigo is the darker colour in the green check and will fade with wear. The shirt uses the IH black logo permex snaps with a button at the collar.

We waited a long time for Pure Blue Japan to produce another run of the x011 slim tapered jean but it has finally been restocked in store and we have all sizes from 27 to 38.
For those who crave a jean that fades quickly this has to be on of the fastest we have seen. The denim uses an indigo warp and grey-dyed weft yielding a fade evolution with vertical falling and high contrast.
This is a left hand twill denim with natural stretch inherent in this style of weave so although slim from thigh to knee they are not as restrictive as jeans of similar cut. They feature a chainstitched hem and waistband, button fly, PBJ branded iron buttons and hidden rivets.

Mister Freedom presents us with a 100% made in USA jean and denim jacket using Cone Mills denim.
The Cowboy Jacket, inspired by the trucker jacket uses a limited New Old Stock Cone Mills indigo 12.5 oz denim with a white/red selvedge ID on the inner placket
The denim is sanforized and cut into a 60’s style slightly slimmed down fit.
The Californian Lot 74 jean uses a Cone Mills 12 oz selvedge denim and comes in a straight tapered fit.
The jeans come with a zip fly, rear pocket partial lining, copper riveting and debossed MF leather patch on the back pocket.
The popular Appaloosa is back in a herringbone twill denim. This is a slim fitting western shirt and comes with painted metal DOT snaps. The shirt is unsanforized and will shrink half a size when washed.

The 7014w is about half an inch shorter than the previous 7012 in all sizes

The fit is ever so slightly shorter but the fabric is exactly the same.
The 7012w had cast iron buttons which had an enamel coating. The 7014w uses urea bottons (a horn substitute)

Now, we have saved the best until last, seriously. Please allow us to introduce to you the Real Japan Blues (sister company toThe Flat Head) stadium jacket. It is nigh on impossible to do any justice to this superlative piece of craftsmanship with words or pictures. However it is described or displayed, we can guarantee you it is 100 times better in the flesh. Made with a wool body and lambs leather sleeves, it is an almost confusing combination of utterly soft yet obviously substantial. A wonderful sleek black, with a thick and thin white stripe along the elasticated collar, cuffs and waistband, there is no large obvious branding – merely the R.J.B cross swords and lettering on the left breast – a really nice touch. The stealth black snap buttons used throughout also carry R.J.B lettering but once again this is tonal and discreet. The inside is a padded, diamond quilted black cupro lining with a soft red stitching. There are two inside pockets, one to each side which are trimmed with leather at the opening as are the two outside hand-warmer pockets. Super comfortable, surprisingly warm and sturdy, looking plain and simple full on amazing, if you ever considered a jacket along these lines then this is it. Even if you hadn’t – this is still it.

Along with a limited replenishment of the horsehide leather café racer jacket (the most visited page on our webstore for good reason), we have also added the 6008w denim jacket to our collection. Shuttle loomed 14.5oz selvedge denim, Union Special chainstitched seams in many places throughout, it is one washed retaining a great depth of indigo and keeping a tactile, slightly ‘hairy’ character. Western styling – slanted chest pockets and narrow at the waist.
Accessory wise, we are pleased to have more of/introduce: leather wallet rope in Tan or black, Kangaroo leather black and tan platted wallet rope, natural saddle leather bracelet with sterling silver clasp, harness leather card case in black and the mighty Wild Child cowhide and cordovan wallet in both black and tan colourways. In addition there is now a Harris Tweed cap on offer as part of the R.J.B. label, made (of course) with genuine Harris Tweed hand woven in the Outer Hebrides. One size, as it is adjustable with a clasp to the back.
To complement a re-stock of sizes across the range of jeans is a super thick, cowhide leather belt in Tan. Seriously heavy duty, this will be a belt for your lifetime and beyond, and is guaranteed to develop an amazing patina throughout this time.

Great news for anyone who is ‘particular about their clothes’ – a large arrival of both new pieces and re-stocks of firm favourites from The Flat Head.
2 new shirts, a Wabash work shirt and a western flannel. Made from a 12oz Zimbabwe selvedge fabric, the Wabash shirt is a next level iteration of the style. Deeply indigo dyed it has selvedge gussets and triple stitched felled seams through the sides, arms shoulders and back yoke. Once washed, it is instantly soft and comfortable and is clearly going to age amazingly due to the heavy indigo tones throughout.
The HNW-52w flannel is cut in the classic Flat Head western style and comes with all the quality and attention to detail one has come to expect from these flannels. A soft mustard yellow and black, the fabric has been woven on a vintage loom giving a raised herringbone like texture. Brushed on the inside for extra comfort and warmth, this will take you through the seasons with ease. We have also re-stocked the same western flannel in the traditional red and black buffalo check, and both the 7001 & 7002 denim shirts.

The latest ultra heavy Iron Heart flannel is here in turquoise/grey buffalo check. The organic Aspero cotton grown in the wild adds volume and an incredible softness to the fabric. The shirt single brushed on face, and double brushed on reverse. It has been one washed.

haven't seen anyone really with any faded pairs of the xx-020 which is a bit disappointing since produce that great electric blue.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope it's a great one for all of you who follow this thread.
We kick off 2016 with the arrival of the latest denim jackets from Pure Blue Japan.
The Natural Indigo Denim Jacket is in the Type 2 style and shuttle loomed and hand-dyed with natural indigo. The hand-dyeing process is labour intensive creating contrast with the inherent inconsistencies of the process. Coupled with the slubby textured weave of the denim Pure Blue Japan once again produces a wholly unique and beautiful garment destined to fade with distinction.
The denim is of 13.5 oz weight and the jacket features a sheepskin leather patch, riveted pockets and iron buttons.
The Indigo Houndstooth Denim Jacket is 100% cotton and of 12 oz in weight. The jacket has been rope dyed with two shades of indigo to create a subtle houndstooth pattern. The jacket features a deerskin leather patch, riveted pockets and iron buttons.

We have also introduced the 717 Upland jean. The slim straight silhouette is best likened to the Flat Head 3001/1001 styles in terms of fit and not dissimilar to the Iron Heart 666. It uses the custom woven 14 oz selvedge denim with Zimbabwe cotton. The 717 has all the features of other Stevenson jeans; hand-sewn belt loops, leather backed buttons on the fly, poly cotton constructional stitching which will fae with the denim, single-needle stitching and green selvedge line.

A new jacket, shirt and jeans from Stevenson Overall arrived this week just in time for Christmas.
The Deputy is a slim fitting ranch jacket made form 100% cotton moleskin, a fabric used on many vintage work wear garments and as durable as denim or canvas. It has been brushed for extra warmth and comfort and comes in a dark olive.
The front pleats have been bar tacked in an unique Stevenson triangular design and suede piping used on the front and back yokes. The collar and cuffs are lined in brown corduroy.

The Cody shirt is set to become a stand out denim shirt at the store for its wholly original features. The front yoke is shaped in the form of a buffalo horn. The back yoke in that of the wings of a bird. The 6.5 oz. indigo denim is shuttle loomed using Zimbabwe cotton. The diagonally cut cuffs and sleeve placket show an attention to detail we come to expect from Stevenson. The shirt is slim fitting and slightly shorter than previous styles.

Does anyone know if PBJ will make their xx-020 again?
I went to their store in Tokyo last November and was told they would restock them this year, but so far nothing. I have made post to their facebook but no answer. I really want that lightning blue fade

The fabric on the THC has not changed this year. Last year they did make the neck hole slightly bigger for a less tight fit.
The Flat Head confirmed with me there has been no change and our recent arrival "The Flat Head Way" is the same fabric as previous years.
