thanks for the tip. I have a few friends stateside so will be having a chat! How do they size up?

Notoriously unreliably! A lot of people size down half a size on the mocs from what I can tell but I have one foot wider than the other so I either go TTS or size up half a size depending on what I'm looking at and what's been available. I often wear an insole in my left boot to compensate for the extra room on one side.

Best bet would be to ask about specific models in the boots thread on here - but for the Maine Guide Boots, you could down size a bit if your feet are normal width.

Triads have some good stuff in their sale at the moment amongst other sites - because of the price of them it's fairly easy to find older stock at reduced prices online.

Nice boots killer price though

I got them brand new off eBay for £225 from another SuFu member, LFC4EVA. Best bet for Yuks if you live in the UK or Europe is to buy them from the States when reduced. Even when you get hit for customs it saves you a decent wedge.

Anyone have info on evisu paris?

They used to have a few pairs in the old Evisu HQ on Savile Row, mate. Saw them when I popped down there a couple or three times back in the day.

The denim felt different to me too, and they had totally different designs to the Evisu Heritage stuff at the time. Seem to remember that they used dragons on the jeans quite often too - seen a few pairs on eBay UK over the years and  they still crop up from time to time.

I couldn't tell you if the Evisu Paris was part of the standard Evisu International range or not, but as far as I know there was only one company licensed to use the name outside of Japan so they might have been France exclusives within that framework. The Evisu shop on Savile Row also carried a few MiJ pieces (at massively inflated prices) so I wouldn't assume that the Evisu Paris jeans' presence there was definite confirmation that they were part of the International set up.

In other news, I've had the deadstock Brown Box jeans and the almost deadstock Lazy S jeans altered to fit better. I'll try and get some pics over the weekend before I send them off to get hemmed.

damn i haven't posted on superfuture in years, but good to see you're still repping evisu hard CTB! those lee-pros look fantastic man! cheers!

Aha, stranger! Long time...hope you're keeping as well as the other old heads who have popped up recently!

Yeah. I also have a box fresh pair of lazy s in the UK. I'll dig out when I am back maybe.

Yeah the brown boxes and Lazy S's grew on me after their run had finished so it became harder and harder to find a pair. But thankfully I have both stored away, not sure when i'll break them in but definitely plan to.

Paulo arent you from the UK? You're now living/working in Shibuya? I was staying at the bottom of Ginza in Shinbashi. Spent a day or 2 in Shibuya, was pretty cool. Also as far as slim cuts I tried on the 2000T (tapered), not sure when that model was released but its pretty slim. Didnt try on the 2005's so couldnt compare. For me I dont want my Evisu's slim so I just stayed with the 2000's.

I think they are the two best pairs that Evisu International ever produced, to be honest. I'm very, very happy to have both in my life again haha. Think I'm gonna get the Lot 0200 Leepros altered to fit better too and then I'm all set for next year

CTB it was a toss up between Shanghai and Tokyo. My wife is from Shanghai and it was going to be a 'meet the parents' trip but cant remember if I threw up Tokyo or she did but happy either way. Next year may have to nut up and go meet the new family.

Also I remember that photo of when you were a teenager doing that sort of karate stance in China. That would have been interesting times for you. Its good to experience different cultures.

I've not been to Shanghai, although I would like to see it. I lived in Tianjin back in the day so close to Beijing too. And yeah that photo was at the Shaolin Monastery haha, it was starting to become a tourist trap back then and apparently it's a lot  worse now...

Cheers Edward, im breaking in a pair of No.1's with black gulls at the moment (Bought a few pairs when Evisu had the 30% off for I think the earthquake relief a few years ago).

CTB I remember those mizuhiki of your's. I always wanted another pair (pretty sure I bought my Evis Lot.00 Yamane Deluxe mizuhiki's off you?) Also didnt I buy a pair of size 29 Brown boxes off you? lol I swear 3 or 4 of my jeans are from you.

Just got back to Australia from a trip to Japan. Spent most of the time in Tokyo and took the bullet train to Osaka for a 5 day stay. Dropped in to a few denim places, didnt go too crazy. Bought a couple of Evisu jeans and a pair of Momotaro '66 cut and just some sweaters and things. Did the touristy stuff like Tokyo Disney and Universal Studios in Osaka, wife went crazy on cosmetic's. Everyone was super friendly and polite, very clean. Food was great and the alcohol was a lot cheaper than Australia. Most denim heads would love it, couldnt recommend it enough.

Yeah, mate, you got the Yamane Deluxe and brown box jeans from me a few years ago. The denim on the YDs was beautiful man, just way too slim fitting for me! I also sold a pair of 32 brown boxes around the same time and for the life of me can't remember why, because I've been craving a pair even since. I've gotta good local alterations tailor who I'll be using to reshape the ones I've just landed to have the top block of a 32" lot 0005 and the taper of a 30" 0005. Will get that done soon and these will be loved next year!

I'm thinking of a trip to East Asia next year myself - probably Hong Kong and mainland China though. I lived in north China for a bit back in the early 90s so would be a trip down memory lane for me. Would be mind blowing to combine it with a trip to Japan though...

  7. Nice jeans, Devilva!

Found my grail and they arrived this morning. Will need some alterations as slightly larger than what I would have gone for if these were still available. Brown box Wrangler repros in that beautiful green caste denim from a few years ago.

Also some pics of the mizuhiki jeans in the same denim that I've had for years. These are on the verge of falling apart now. Patched with finest English tweed!

  8. Missed my old Lazy S jeans so went on a hunt for a pair. Ended up finding two pairs, one in the 0005 fit that they did for the European market and one in the 0200 fit that was sold in the States.

The 0005 jeans were mine for the fine sum of one single American dollar! These are a 30 waist but the 0005 model is vanity sized.

No pics yet of the 0200 model but they're large in the waist for me and a much looser cut overall. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet.

  9. Some recent finds. Nice variety of tabs. The Evis jeans were a random £20 pick up from ebay and I only realised they were Evis when they arrived.

The two Evisu 2001 jeans are No.1 and originally a 36 waist and the Evis 2504s are No.2 denim in a 34 waist. This might have been something that was obvious to anyone else on here, but I was surprised to find out that the measurements for the No.2 denim was the same for the shrunk No.1 denim - so a 34 in No.2 is the same size as what you would expect a 36 in No.2 to shrink to.

Am I just being thick in only just noticing this? I've always assumed that any cut in No.2 would be a looser cut but it seems that it *should* size to the same dimensions as if you'd bought the correct size in No.1 and shrunk it. I've never compared them side by side like that so maybe that's why it's only just occurred to me.

Anyway... The first pair is on ebay for sale, I'm getting the Evis pair tapered slightly and the pair with the white gulls will be held in reserve!

  10. These are the MiJ jeans I won on ebay a few months ago for £1. No patch on the back, but the original fit suggested 2001 but the dimensions were slightly off - like the proportions weren't quite matched up.

I've got a pretty good local tailor and we took a reconstructive approach, slimming down the legs a bit, and bringing the seat of the jeans in whilst still keeping the daicock joined up when the work was finished.

I'm pretty happy with the end product, see what you guys think. Excuse the changing room pics!

Never trust Denimio measurements on their site

They were very fast in getting back to me with confirmation when I asked. They rely on the manufacturer's measurements as far as I can tell, the 2000s I bought were sent straight from Evisu themselves so Denimio acted more like a broker or proxy. Don't know if that's their business model per se as I've only used them once.

The measurements for my 2000s were accurate anyway. And they have a good returns policy.

    Whats an 00?!

An old cut used by Evis back in the day. Think it was only ever this model above tbh.

I had a pair a while back and shared them on here.

Some great pics there by the way!

This is the 2000 right? Do you happen to have pre and post soak measurements? How did you size relative to your other jeans?

Yeah, 2000 and the pre soak measurements on denimio were accurate - I've linked them in a post above. Post soak you're looking at a 32 inseam and and actual (flat waist of 35 now it's stretched out a bit from regular wear.

But... don't put too much stock in these measurements because:

    - I wore them during the soak so the waist remained pretty much the same as presoak

    - I only soaked them for 20ish minutes so the inseam length is probably longer than it would be if you soak for longer.

Also worth bearing in mind that in my limited experience from breaking in two pairs of No.1s, the inseam length often doesn't reach its final length until after a few washes, hence my saying that these will only be cold washed from now on as the inseam is just perfect for my taste now.

Choosing the 35 presoak size was just an educated guess - I've not bought a brand new pair of jeans for ages. At least it's easy to return with Denimio.

Evisu JP for ya and probably why you don't see many fit pics on here, shit gets bought, doesn't fit and gets flipped, usually back to the far east ;)

You're speaking from experience there, ent ya? I've been pretty lucky with the stuff that I've picked up over the years.

I'm going to let those 2001s go though, so if anyone is interested then get in touch as they are going on eBay tomorrow.

    The inseam ended at 32"?

I also think the fit looks very good especially the length is great. And you are still able to do a mini cuff.

The inseam is just over 32" by a fraction. That was after 20 mins sitting the bath at the warmest temperature I could be comfortable in.

Looking forward to seeing some fit pics of the No.1 2001s Crash, as well as more of your new 2000s. I've started wearing some of my Evis 2001s recently as a 'comfy' pair as I pretty much wear Fullcounts all the time at mo, but the temptation to get some new No.1s is getting much stronger now. I wear them high water style anyway so inseam will probably naturally work for me!

2001 used to be my favourite cut but my preference is for slimmer these days which is why I went for a second-hand pair to save some cash if I didn't like the fit any more - plus I've got these 2000s and those Evis carpenter pants to wear from raw now anyway...

It's about that - I'll check when I'm back home in a bit. I think it will drop a little lower than in the pics above once the starchiness has gone.

They're a much more comfortable fit than my previous pair, still tight across the lap though but not in a bad way. I should be getting my hands on that second-hand pair of 2001s bought from Rakuten later on today or tomorrow so will be no.1 heaven after so long without the stuff!
