  1. Ha ha ! love it, now all you need is to get her into a pair and she may see the way ?

Maybe. Only after my trainer obsession has been accepted first though...

    :)

Anyhow, post-soak pictures - soaked for just over an hour in warm water then worn for a walk in the rain to get that bloody belt (and if I get pneumonia then I will demand no sympathy):

Still a bit loose on the waist for me, I'll post measurements when totally dried.

Would be interesting to hear what some of the more experienced denimheads thought of these...

  2. What brand are we talking about? If it says they'll shrink that much, they're probably not sanforized. Hot soaking is the best way to get the shrinking out of the way (actually, hot washing is)...but the rest of the jeans will shrink too. The general rule - if they fit before you've soaked them, you bought them too small.

Evisu Deluxe 17oz, and the waist still needs to lose another inch, I reckon...

  3. 'I'm home!'

    'Where've you been?'

    'Out to buy a belt...'

'For your new pair of jeans? ANOTHER pair?!?'

    'How did you know?'

    'The bathroom's blue.'

    'Indigo. Not blue.'

    *silence*

    Does anybody love a pedant?

  4. Ok, I've got some pretty decent jeans in W36 L34, no idea whether they're sanforised or not. All the blurb says is that I can expect up to 1.5" shrinkage on the waist. I'm happy with that as they're a bit large on the waist, but I need the leg length as otherwise I'll be showing off my ankles to the world.

I've just soaked them for an hour in warm water and there's been little shrinkage. If I were to hot soak (VERY hot soak!) the body of the jean (i.e. from waist to crotch), would it be possible to shrink the waist some more without wrecking the other proportions of the jeans?

    And does this make sense?

Thanks in advance again guys, this noob appreciates your help!

    :)

  5. Pictures? The quality of these (all pre-soak) is poor, but here goes:

    dsc00700yt8.jpg

These are less slubby than Tekrah's, we got different jeans.

The colour is something else, not sure if you can tell that from the pictures...

  6. Glad you got them - you'll have to let me know when you start to wear them and we should 'synchronise' it'd be interesting to see how each pair progresses ? - What with these and the competition that DeeDee is running too we'll be all evisu'd out !

    - as for the denim itself it appears to be indestructable and rather delectable doesn't it?

How do yours fit compared to others you have?

My head hurts now as I've got too many pairs and only so much time! I was hoping to get some Ironhearts this year but think they'll be a project for 2010...

The denim's something else, and a poke in the eye to all who reckon that Made in Japan is the be-and-end-all of it. The fit's great, but I really hope they do shrink a bit in the waist as they're a bit too big. Proper urban armour, though!

Now, do I get them handpainted or not? Opinions?

  7. Chuffed for ya Tekrah! The wait's killing me now, apparently they attempted delivery yesterday here and now I've got to wait for them to come again...No idea of when that's going to be...

    :(

They came...and it's like Tekrah said...

    :D

  8. I find most mainstream folks have moved beyond Evisu, and are now focusing their attention on such brands as True Religion and Nudie, which is fine by me.

Over here, there appears to be a lot more people these days (in my city, at least) wearing the EU lines, which are far easier on the eye than some of the gaudier Heritage styles (or the fake versions thereof).

I did giggle recently though when someone said that they liked my jeans but thought that they were fakes because 'the gulls have obviously been painted on by hand'.

I didn't have the heart to explain...

  9. Why would you prefer unsanforized? In my understanding, you would want unsanforised so that it will fit ur body better than sanforized ones after soaking. Some people argue that if you want to buy an unsanforized pair, you would go for 1-2 size bigger because it will shrink much more than the sanforized one after soaking.

In addition to stitched gulls, im now waiting for my no.1 special addition which is yet to come and it is stitched gulls. Just for sharing, im now frustrated because:

    1. the gulls are stiched. Which means no fading, but it will be gone, totally gone when the threads are off. Which makes the jeans kinda look stupid with "incomplete" gulls after hard wears. or maybe have some holes on the pocket because the threads are off already

    2. It is unsanforized, but the size is my actualy size. it will then shrink so badly till it will fit my body. Bad because i dont want it too tight. but im fully aware it will stretch back to normal

Any other pros/cons of unsanforized ones anyone? feel free to add something

The only reason why I asked is because I bought a pair of Deluxe on impulse without checking (indigo fever's a fucker!). They're 36", and I'm 33ish so was planning on shrinking them...They'll be here in the next few days, and now I'm praying that they're a small 36; if not you might see them popping up in the supermarket subforum before long.

Unpainted pockets though, if anyone's interested :o

Alternatively, reckon it's worth giving them a soak in boiling water anyhow?

  10. Brummie, how long?

About 7 months between two wearers, restarched when I started wearing them to leave my 'mark'. Soaked a couple of times, and then washed at the weekend at 60, as they really needed it. Used Ecover Delicate for the wash as it's based on plant ingredients.

lol i'd like to have my name in katakana om my jeans too, if i ever get some no1's

    did you do it yourself?

And nah, I got Hiroko at the Evisu store in London to do it for me, but it was my idea. Think on my next pair of No.1s I'll be sticking to gulls though, although not decided for sure.

  11. Hi,

I would love if you could take some fit pics later. That would be great.

They Evisus on Ebay are 190$ Buy-it-Now or Best Offer. According to this thread, I think I read that he accepts offers lower than the Buy-it-now price.

Either way, directing me to the site you got them from is good, too. I need to find some more sites with evisu other than BiG, Evisus website, and eBAY.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in, but 2001 fits like this:

    number12001hp2eb7.jpg

Looser around the thighs and seat than the 2000, but fine for me as my thighs aren't slim!

And if you're talking about the eBay seller mentioned a page earlier, then he DOES accept silly offers, as I landed a Deluxe pair that I'm going to get checked out as soon as they arrive.

  12. For those in the UK, Evisu on Savile Row have started offering the handpainted gulls, but don't have any Number 1 denim in stock at the moment.

They were happy to paint an old pair of Number 2s that I took down with me, so might be worth looking for a plain pair of jeans and asking them nicely...

  13. This is what the 0331s look like post-soak, for those that are interested:

    dsc00445vr6.jpg

    dsc00447ky0.jpg

Not the best of pics, but you get the flavour. I'm six foot/183cm tall, for the record.

It was these that got me interested in dry denim, which is kinda why I'm here. I managed to land some 2001 Number 1s not long after these, so the ones above aren't getting the wear they deserve...

  14. THX D00D!!!!

got sum rep 4 dat @$$

what was pre- and post-soak inseam?

34" pre- and just under 33" post-soak. Waist lost about half an inch overall, post-stretch. Got them handpainted too, as can anyone in the UK who buys them in person from the Savile Row HQ. Jeans are made in Macau...

    :D

  15. but this shit is still confusing

    got my eye on these:

    http://shop.evisu.com/collections/mens/products/mens-heritage-jeans

in the picture, the tag has a no 2 stamp and clearly reads lot 0331

    so according to this:

this pair should be sanforized, and be a "pretty slim modern cut"

however, the site says "jean fit is medium rise with a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh for a classic straight leg vintage look"

also, will these be button fly or zip?

i guess i should just call and ask...anyone tried 1 877 buy evisu? they know what they're talking about?

They're sanforised, although I lost just over an inch in length when I soaked them when I first got them. And button fly, too...
