  1. Deciding to sell my Roys.

I've been sitting on them this week deciding whether I can wear them or not. Deciding they're a bit too small for me.

Really great jean, Don't want to part with them at all. They are so nice and hairy right now.

Worn a couple times. Soaked inside out in warm water for 30minutes.

    KS1001 Size 32

    Post-soak measurables:

    16.5" Waist

    12" rise BiG style

    12.5" thigh.

34.5" Inseam (SE chainstich to 37" dry)

Let me know if you're interested.

  2. Girlfriend ripped through a crotch in a pair of Raleigh Denim in under 12 months. Sort of upset because they were $255 and not selvedge but cone denim.

but maybe this is common in girls jeans.

Girls legs are spaced further I think + they tend to wear their jeans tighter

Also depends on how fat your thighs are. Rail thin legs tend to be better off.

If its a problem could look into an elastic denim for the next pair.

  3. Post soak.

IMO the denim is really soft. I believe that my MF Appaloosa denim shirt is more rigid. It'll be really nice this summer when the hot temps arrive. Shrinkage was as expected. I'm really liking the fit.

My fit looks very similar to yours. You're right, these are very soft jeans.

  4. what did your measurements end up being post-soak for your 32s?

I've worn them for a day now so the waist probably went from 16.25" to 17" which is what my jeans are normally at.  15 minutes in some water would take them back to 16.25" for sure.

I can get the rest of the measurements like leg opening, rise etc tonight.

I had SE take an inch off the inseam so they shrunk down to 34" pretty much on the dot.

  5. I got a pair of 32s after getting a pair of 33s and canceling that order. Turns out the 33 was probably the better choice. My 32 shrank down to 16" after a room temp soak.  The 37" inseam is now 34"

I'm really happy about the rise after wearing 10-10.5 rise jeans for several years now.  It's a lot easier to wear a 12" rise jean to work because I can actually tuck a shirt in.

Anyways. The fit is pretty damn perfect.  They are really quite slim when sized down and the taper is just right.  The top block fits really well but I'm a little concered for the crotch in the future. It's a bit tight but maybe I just need to break them in a little. I'll have to keep an eye on it if I continue to wear this pair.

I don't think I can do this size though long term. Couple years of tight jeans have affected my posture and given me acid relux.. oh well. Took a while to fix both of those issues but I don't want to run into that again.

If anyone wants to trade a 33 for a 32 though let me know.

  6. Approx .twice a week for 3.5 months?

You could fold the jeans so you just wash the crotch. Get all the crap and leftover starch out. Should soften and tighten up a bit so they last longer.

  7. Hi guys

    http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=88&products_id=1226

These are one size too small. Not going to work for me. They were chainstiched for $15 by SE to 37" This should be approximately 34" post soak.

They are a beautiful pair of jeans.

FIRM on price.  These jeans are sold out and no longer available.

  8. I just bought a pair on last Monday and took my tape measure to the store and what not to figure out how these things were sized.

For what it's worth my pair of 33's started at 18" and shrank to 16" Stretched back to 17.5" now.

I bought the new pair of Roys today because I've had the itch for a while and I found it quite curious how similar the two jeans are on paper.

Both when rinsed should have a 12" rise, 33" waist, 9" knee, 8.25" leg opening, and ~12.5" thigh.  I'll have to see how the upper block fits when they come in but on paper it's almost like he cut up some new 501s and made his patterns from them.

  9. I think demonito is being elitist.

Alden's may use higher quality materials and have a smaller group of people handmaking their shoes but recent posts definitely call into question their consistency on quality with respect to defects.

    AEs are good shoes.

  10. What I find strange is that this medallion is on the INNER SIDE of the shoe, rather than on the outer side. I thought / vaguely remember that the medallion is on the outer side, thus to show off. No?

Have you ever worn chuck taylors? :P

  11. you're from dallas too? no way haha

yeah well My 0701's - size 32 size 29/30 NS and I hot/boil soaked the crap out of them. i've been wearing them all week and they are still tight but I have hope.

it's really nice to know that some denim company makes a jean that doesn't stretch into oblivion though
