I couldn't ever fit into their previous patterns, but wow the FN-3004 in New Pioneer is the wildest denim I've seen as far as fading speed goes. Every time you wash your hands the sink flashes blue.

As enthusiastic and knowledgeable as the good folk here on Sufu are over their jeans, I don’t think a switch from one cotton to another directly influenced their loss of interest in Skull. I think it was more to do with Self Edge dropping Skull from its line-up, which may have been due to QC issues (which may also have included the cotton switch).
My skulls from SE had a rivet pop off within days. good denim though
not really sure the dragging on about sizing down. they were vanity sized one size. apc was usually 2 sizes depending on the model apcs tended to stretch a lot. skulls tended to shrink a lot for sanforized jeans. (and then stretch back)
just typical confusion about buying clothes off the internet.
The new jean fabric I saw was pretty boring compared to the 6x6, but yeah after SE dropped them they seemed hard to get. I think being hard to get + QC issues was just the issue in general with them.

IG warehouse sale post crashed the site
I bought 3 pairs during the previous sale so it's probably for the best.
I do wish those detroit jeans had a dior 19cm style inseam length cuz that top block is incredible for tall guys.

Yeah I still frequent the sub and try to help out as much as I can in the daily questions threads. I see @beautiful_FrEaK and @julian-wolf in the dq thread all the time too.
I like that the wash/don't wash divide leans towards wash these days though. People post their jeans that haven't touched water in over a year and there's always (deserved) comments about stench. But you'll still have people show up accusing you of not showering enough if you suggest that washing monthly or so is the best way to prevent stinky jeans.
reddit is just too ephemeral for my liking. I grew up with forums and find them much better for hobbies. I find it kind of tragic you have to apparently pay to join sufu now. I guess that keeps the people with no forum etiquette out but we're stuck in time.
I'm definitely still on the wash infrequently side as I live in a car centric city with an office job but if they're dirty or smell bad they get washed -- no doubt about that.

wonder if Lewis Hamilton would be into those GETH jeans when he comes in October to Austin.

Maybe I'm lucky but I've never been stung by US customs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm no expert but the amount is clothing over $800 I believe. Also depends on the country of origin. And of course depends on whether the retailer lied for you or told the truth on the shipment billing. Germans go by the book I think
I should have just made two smaller purchases.

Congrats B_F!
Not on the same scale but I picked up a new moto. Does anyone here ride as well?
I used to ride a lot but I sold my bike a couple years ago. I'm kind of too scared to get another. Dallas drivers have gotten noticeably insane.
I want an Africa twin next.

I accidentally slipped into customs duty territory with an $820 purchase at merzbschwanen
Guess I won't let that happen again. $170 down the drain for no reason.
I've got to go to an all-white party tonight. Not super psyched about the dress code.

@Kiya, can you tell us anything about the new Austin store?

I'm glad you're selling through Boncoura but I was also disappointed to see those inseam lengths as they look awesome.

Went up to NY for the sole purpose of seeing the city for the first time and visiting some jean shops. SENY was so nice. Just as good as the original in SF. Wesley was the best sales associate. Was pretty disappointed they were out of Roy's new jean but I guess that's to be expected. Really wanted to see how it compared to the KS1001.
Couldn't really find anything that fit like I wanted. I felt like the SOC Valencia was close, but the rise was still just a tad short or something. Would encourage you guys to really find some more fits with a higher 11-12" rise that fit slim and what not.
On 5/22/2015 at 10:50 AM, kiya said:Finding a 12" rise on a slim fit is quite uncommon, the two don't really go together so if most brands are going to do a slim fit they'll be using a medium or medium/low rise. The Dry Bones Red-D has a medium/high rise and is slim tapered though.
Shout out to denim brands in 2020 and onward for building a ton of these 12" rise jeans with a 8-9" knee and a 7-8" hem.
They must have seen my post.
Also funny how I loved that SOC Valencia but they came out with the Carmel which is exactly what I needed.

Stevenson is back! Great to see them making stuff again: http://soc-la.com/item.php?s=17
I really like the color of this Dominator flannel.
what happened to them in 2021?
If they do ever stop making clothes I'm buying every pair of SOC Carmel in stock in my size.
I've got 3 years on mine as my primary denim and they'll easily go another 6 but I need a lifetime supply

now thats an idea
I guess you're in the UK but in the USA that would allow you to start a tax sheltered custodial retirement account for him. It would be worth a lot even before he's worth 18 if you can make just a little bit of profit and pay him for modeling/design/etc.

My Kinda Special have some poly core in them.
I think he does use higher quality thread than most of the Japanese repro brands, pima or not, and the stitching is definitely 5 steps above most of them.

I love everything about this fit. size 33 post soak is 12/16 rise, <13" thigh, 9" knee 8" hem. Just the perfect jean for me. Don't think I can make $445 work for me though, fair price though for what it is. Also a little disappointed to see 100% cotton instead of a poly core. Usually cone denim is so tough and slow to patina that I wouldn't really want to be doing stitching repairs before the jeans even look worn. Definitely fair for Roy to spec if he wants though.

Kiya, can you explain the size charts for the Warehouse 800? I'm not seeing any difference in waist for the 34 and 36, is that true?

so you need to pay $10 to become a member here now.
I understand the owner put a lot of money into developing things recently but there are plenty of free options nowadays.

I’m just curious, what is the historic significance of the MP toe? I got my Boss done in that style and was going for the vintage engineer boot look.
Has Wesco or anyone here explained much about the MP toe besides the narrowness? Any old ads showing this?
MP Toe = Motorcycle Patrol last used on their Motorcycle Patrol police style boots.

My Wesco "Mister Lou" pair came in.
I am super happy with them and they fit good! I went with a 10.5D. I believe this is their "MP Toe" last which already runs a little narrow so these fit more like a 10.5C. I'm a 10.5 in Iron Ranger and an 11B Alden Barrie.
I would say I'm probably an actual 11C in their sizing but this pair should suit me fine just not a ton of toe space but not too tight.
I am also very happy that the shaft on these is cut rather narrow. This improves the fit a lot for my narrow ankles and makes them fit easily under all my 8" hem jeans. I could probably afford another 1/2" or so down in shaft size but for an off the rack engineer boot I am impressed.
Hope S&S doesn't mind me using their photos to remind you guys what these things look like.

my FN-3004 from sept 2024 have now fallen apart enough they need serious stitching repairs
I know the 100% cotton thread stuff is "repro" but I really wish they would not use it.
Back to stevenson until I figure out how I am going to repair these.
