Don't even think about lathes. They sound like crap and they don't last at all. Every spin degrades them like a motherfucker.

United is good. Everyone I know who's used them has been pretty happy. But they aren't always the best on the "something is wrong with the test pressings and I want you to investigate why" front. So I'd encourage you to go with someone else like Aardvark (http://www.aardvarkmastering.com/ ) to make the master lacquer to then send off to United to plate and just start stamping out records.

not sure how I feel about this..... aesthetically I prefer the blocks but it does make our e-peen size ranking a little more blunt.

I studied classical piano for about 6 years when I was younger. Cello for 2. Music theory and composition for well over a decade of my life. Then put that all aside and went through a long phase all about prepared electric guitar through super complex laptop processing.

But I put the software away and now I mostly work with found electronics and amplification techniques. More interested in the juxtapositions of sounds and silences over time than just making a wall of noise. I play percussion sometimes too. Guitar once in a while still but less and less over the past couple years.

Yeah, it is a rather humorous sight. It's even better when there's a huge line of people involved. Everyone goes first from station to station washing people (spraying, scrubbing, etc) before they then get washed by the people further back in line.

The most awesomely awkward is when somebody gets hard and everyone does their best to act like they don't notice....
