  1. I got these Alden driving shoes in brown for $20 at a consignment shop. I don't know if they have a place in this thread or not... guess I'm presuming so just cause they're from Alden. What do you think, though? Good deal? And also, they came with lambswool stuffed down into the toe. Is that a common practice or something?

  2. My Nom de Guerre classic fits. Started out a a dark raw grey. Had them about six months, washed several times. At this point I just wash them once they bag out too much.

Your ndg's really make me want another pair. Even though they aren't selvedge and don't get great fades they really are one of my favorite pairs of jeans. My pair has evolved (or devolved) into a pair of paint stained cutoffs I use for swimming in now, but I still love them. Good job on yours by the way.

  3. is that from a movie, opie?

as for washing, first you swim in the ocean while wearing them (apc lists this as a good washing method) then while you're in the ocean take them off to go skinnydipping (apc lists this as a good method for getting laid by mermaids). just remember to retreive the jeans before you leave. those mermaids can be a bit distracting, albeit well worth it. good luck.

  4. Does anyone know of any companies making red jeans? I don't know what specific type of dye would be used to allow for good fading, but I can just imagine a lot of depth and different levels of fading, similar to indigo, coming from dark red.

I remember a few years ago seeing a monotone dark-red pair from armani exchange, and I always regretted not getting them (not anymore now that I know about raw denim, since I'm sure a/x's quality is crap), but I just think it's a pity there doesn't seem to be anythig like that.
