  1. Update, 5010 pima blend.  I've had these for a while in rotation.  No steady wear because the threads are too weak for working.  I believe this most recent wash was the third one.

Sorry Warakia, these are not the new batch funded by Take5.  I imagine the fabric is actually exactly the same, ie even from the same inventory/bolts.  My take on the pima blend is that Skull wanted to offer pima affordably so they had a shit-ton of it made and it all sat for a while after the death blow.  I can't say that with certainty; it's just my impression.  Ed might know if I'm right or wrong.

  2. That's really nice work, slab.  Great update.

Reddragon I like the current fit.  You have some nice fades coming in too, very buttery looking.

Aho, the texture does jump out with yours.  Is the contrast of the selvedge fades as stark as it looks irl?

  3. I bought some 005bk from Gordon and I love these jeans.  I'll get fit pics up soon.  Not really sure how/if to hem these.  It's an odd ass leg.  I might just keep them pooled at the cuff.  Wife tells me it looks like shit and she's a good barometer on this sort of thing.  In a few months there's a 90% chance she will really like everything about it.  So it's a good gamble to just rock it.

My pair is deeper old-stock and plain pocket, no leaf, no cut tab, no coin pocket tab, no anything.  Do any aficianodos know more about this lot period?  I dug deep to find shrinkage info from the era and didn't find much beyond a bitchass tousle about authenticity because there was no leaf lol.   Didn't somebody just recently say everybody wants to pick a fight in the PBJ thread?

****also, if anybody has or knows about a houndstooth denim this jean, more info please!  ie, is it a weave effect or more of a contrived thing?  Any lunk sizes, 34-36, hit me up for a possible sale.

  4. Hm, interesting info about the indigo base.

Yep, to clarify, I meant what Satchel said.  Just curious how LF removes the sulfur odor from your black jeans before offering them as inventory.

  5. Pizzicato 5 is dope.

    Yes

Best shit I've personally known from them was at 7th St Entry years ago.  Nomiya cycled through 10-12 costume changes and it was all great.  I can just imagine her pulling on each new jawns in that fucking horrible room down there, "backstage".  I hope she don't hate this town.

Momus man, wtf.  Last time I saw him he was wearing a long curly wig like the cool dude from Amadeus and ill-fitting clothes in 17th century fashions.  It was outstanding but still was wtf.  He had his girl sing "What Are You Wearing" just like the first post of waywt.

  6. The Black Marias look great.  Those are very ominous inspirations.  I'm holding out for the BlackBlue collab but I'm really itching for some black jeans...

btw what is the process to remove the odor?  I couldn't help but notice the current blacks are odorless.

re. other Left Field, I picked up one of the indigo terry sweatshirts.  I love it.  I was a big fan of Champion when I was a kid (ie when it was still a good brand) and LF has really gone over the top with this shirt, tweaking it into an insanely nice pre-sellout Champion repro.  Nice work.  I decided to shrink it and got 2" out of the chest (1" flat), and just over an inch from the collar-to-bottoms and pit-to-cuff.  No worries -- I'm glad I can just wear it now without bunching or cuffing.  Also, I have big problems with collar bunching and the indigo terry lays perfectly flat across the back of my shoulders.

ps, ADH, check your inbox, I have stuff for you.  Just need to know how much you want.

  7. A butcher called "Finer Meats" on Chicago Ave sold me what they call a Delmonico.  It appears to be a ribeye suffering from gigantism, where the different parts flare out into enormous proportions.  It's good shit.  Cheap too.  I imagine the proportions are too large to be saleable...the thing was like 16" in diameter.  I'll try to sufinstagram the meats sometime this week if it's a staple item for them.

  8. I think we were all too excited to obsess about the specifics of a prize.  That's fine.  It's a good trait of the general outlook here in the contest.

Simon, the chevron shape gives a lot of bonus coverage that stays hidden.  I did that repair when you were seeking advice on the last page.  Sorry I didn't chime in.  We were upgrading our computer and the only pics I could take the day I did it were with my phone.    I can get them posted if you like.  It's just the steps:  Cutting the fabric, laying out the patch for hemming the edges, etc.

Cheers to CrashTestBrummie for his fine work on external patches btw.  He got me liking the idea.

  9. Totally agree. Getting the right fit - both in width and most definitely the last - just should not be compromised!

Looking after your feet has fundamental significance to well-being in my opinion. Boots have gotta fit good when you first get them, in my experience if they don't fit right when you try them they never really do. Boots ain't jeans, stretch to fit is not the idea - hallux abducto valgus is not a right of passage!

Yeah, it's bad for the feet and the boots will deform horribly as they "stretch".  I don't think resoling would spring back the shape of any undersized width.

  10. I had my beat-to-shit Red Wing Centennials resoled recently.  It was done by RW via BlackBlue's service.  I'm very happy with these and I can only regret all the RW's I've thrown in the trash when they got old.

The soles seemed to kick these pancakes back into shape.  E2 is my width and after seeing the shape revive in these, my opinion now is that D boots most definitely do NOT "stretch to fit" everybody.  Wear your width.

  11. Hey, sorry, I have posted this in a couple different threads now, but I am in Tokyo for a couple more days now and I have been searching like crazy to try to find the Skull Jeans shop. The address I found was in Harajuku and it has moved. Does anyone have any info? I have seriously been searching like crazy!

Also could anyone recomend any other Japanese raw denim that I might be into or that they like? I fell in love when I saw the Linda, I am just too worried about the fit since I am not quite built like a Japanese girl.

What do you like about the Linda?

It's a tough cut.  If you look back you will see ladies giving up on it.  Mostly when they try to fight the fit too much imo.  Forgive me for saying something so corny, but if you fight it it will fight back.  It's the real shit, full cotton heavier denim.

As far as advice, my wife has a pair of Linda and a pair of PBJ 005 and loves both.  Aside from the higher rise, the 005 are a direct fit to the Linda on her.

BiG has a pair of size 0 left and if they will work for you and you really want them I would suggest grabbing those right now.

  12. ^Those are nice

I stopped in at BlackBlue today for some bs'ing and there was a new shipment of Japan Blue.  I would say it's the new production run, because the hang tags are slightly different.  I measured the waist in my size quickly and they are two inches smaller than my pair that jives with blue owl's chart.  I didn't run through the whole block but the cuff and thigh are slightly smaller too.

Could be a sanforizing thing...mine did shrink a surprising amount.  Perhaps this new lot is better-shrunk and will shrink less (?).

  13. Jyoni, thanks. Want to cop em now they on the final production run

I didn't know that.  Glad I copped.  Various pre-purchase research on the webs asserted that they were not a good deal for the money.  Bullshit.  14.8 oz standard issue shuttle loomed roped dyed goods for under 200 bucks...not a good deal?  lul okay man whatever you say.

There are other size charts out there.  I'm sorry, I don't have them bookmarked or anything.  I doubt our keywords would differ much and you will find info that varies greatly -- 38+ inseams, no shrinkage on a one-wash, and so on.  With what you're telling me this may relate to different production runs.

****also, re. shrinkage I gently dry the piss out of any and all of my jeans on the highest machine heat

  14. Guys how accurate are the measurements on blueowl for the JB line? I know Jay is usually spot on but the m'ments look like they are vanity sized? Thinking the 200SP wit the GTB stripes or the 404. my actual waist is 32, usually go 31 and let em stretch to fit.

Geeman, I bought a pair of 0401 from blackblue. They fit blue owl's chart except for the waist which is 1/2" under that chart. Surely that is just variation.

Fyi I got a fair amount of shrinkage from the 14.8 -- 2" in the waist and 1.5" in the inseam. The rest of the cut maintained well. LO lost a touch, just enough to rope up a bit. No idea about stretch back yet.

  15. GON13, I don't think the worn models would do well here.  But what is the process?  I am interested in how people try to age them.

The black denim is inticing.  I want to do a pair of black soon.

  16. Never read 100 Bullets.  It's on a read list in my head but I should start it.  Too much unread stuff.  I think I have to try to try Preacher again later, one of these days.  Just couldn't get into it right now.

Cotton, if there is art available, I have been pining for some things from King City.  I can shoot you page numbers from the U.S. magazine- sizd run from Image.  In terms of composition, they are the splash page with Anna in the tub, and the black-backed sequence of Joe pissing into his reflection in the toilet.  If you spot them, lmk or just cop and I'll cover you for the courtesy.

A recent pickup -- A friend had a partnership go bad and he bought out his erstwhile partner's inventory and fire-sold it.  I got almost 200 issues of 70s-80s Marvel Conan for a song.  Now that's some good ass reading.
