@beautiful_FrEaK also the pair of Toys Mccoys seem to be from the same factory as the fake sugar canes. https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/auction/yahoo/input/j1189598598/ or the graph zero https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/japan/en/auction/yahoo/input/n1189945765/ they all feature that rather dull selvage denim and short button flys, look at the last fit pic of the McCoy's token from DC4 btw. and compare the steep front rise of an original pair...

@Dr_Heech I stumbled upon those beautiful 1945 501's. just a link though, since I am not able to save the instagram pictures on my pc 🧐: https://www.instagram.com/p/DIpX_6vTVgT/?img_index=1

@Lorcanyes, all LVCs with a red tab featured the R up to certain year, if I remember correctly it was around ten years ago, when they had started doing it right. and yes something is wrong with button, butt its more about the construction method of how the rivet/thorn-back part is attached to the top part, early LVC had two kind of stingers that had been plugged through the metal and had been bent holding the top, current versions hide the fixation. https://bears-tokyo.myshopify.com/products/levis-vintage-clothing-44501-0088-501xx-1944-model-501-jeans-organic-cottonのコピー

@Maynard Friedman yes indeed, it looks like they have used the same denim here and also the fit is quite close, but since my knowledge regarding LVC is much bigger than of Sugar Cane, I easily could spot is a fake, but as for the Canes, it is very well done... funny thing is, I spotted 2 pairs of them and both run around 170,-€ as my Sugar Cane pair and had been sold by three "different" vintage sellers on Vinted, all based in the same country... Vinted now offers to check if stuff you buy is legit and I wonder if this pair would have passed the service!?😄
-
the arcuate and the patch look pretty decent, its the red tab, that within a 40s repro shouldn't feature a trademark "R", it is the short rise and the attachment of the flashers with plastic straps rather than cotton/poly thread which proofs the are being a fake pair
-
try yourself first
-
Be aware when buying LVC via Vinted and check carefully, there have been spread a lot of fakes (including Japanese repro brands) recently which still run at 170,-€ See what's wrong? 1.... 2....
-
😂
-
and probably you wouldn't have to fear being sued by Japanese brands, wheras Levi's could demolish your whole factory...
-
I had been suspicious before, because legit 37s all came with "clean" rivets, while the fake one features oxidised rivets. But that's all okay, it's the denim that is nothing better than Uniqlo Denim. I also found out, legit pairs have the inside sizing label attached below cinch back rivet. Wonder if the fake uses cotton thread?
-
I could finally find an agreement with seller. It is already in the washing machine, hoping for the denim "opens up" a little.
-
@Double 0 Soul Thanks for double checking. The flasher of my pair is super glossy, which also doesn't seem right. I'm prepared now! And for sure I'm about to wear these... could be a nice summer pair hence the lighter weight.
-
Thank you, I know the pair you're thinking of, there is an old thread on sufu regarding this topic. Its incredible how many details they did right, every rivets, every button... Maybe it's Sugar Canes Karma being coppied. I might wear these anyways, but could have almost two pairs of Bronson...
-
I will do so tomorrow, but it's already dawning here and would like to have better light. But the pair shown in the link is a similar pair.

I wonder if anyone here has ever seen Sugar Cane fake Jeans? I have recently acquired a pair of SC419397us from Vinted and they somehow feel fakish, since the denim is so generic, reminds me of the Kaihara Denim that is used for the LVC 505, it is singed and not very heavy, also the patch looks a bit plasticy for Sugar Cane, more like the ugly LVC ones. They also don't resemble the last iteration of a '37 501 from 5 years ago or so. If it is legit the price would be a bargain, but if it is a fake pair...🫠 This is a link to an instagram vintage shop, which had sold a similar pair: https://www.instagram.com/p/DICR_s3p3st/?img_index=3

I will start wearing the shirt from now on since I'm more fond to wear shirts tucked in, and I would love to see how they evolve with time. Interestingly the label shows a 40 which I would consider to be a 40" for an M rather than an 38". I have another sawtooth shirt from around ten years ago same size but with an unreasonable big neck size and much shorter skirts. The Valencia version comes with a 15,5" neck which is spot on for size M shirt, whether the more recent model features roughly a 17" neck. The other stuff will be part my old-age provision. 🤫
-
since for me everything started with LVC, no wonder they are among my oldest repros: 1950s Sawtooth Shirt, notice the long, what I would call front skirts / tails. I couldn't find out the purpose (maybe for bending backwards while on a Rodeo-Horse back) of it, since one would instinctively think that the back part should be longer, which is not uncommon for other vintage / antique shirt's... however this detail makes them a little less wearable untucked. This shirt was one of 4 deadstock shirts which a had the fortune of to acquire along with a rather large stash of deadstock Valencia Street Era 1955s 501xx repros a few years back... in time I have to post those too.

Thanks for sharing, it's the first time I have seen such a pair at all apart from Paul T's book and the Bronson pair I recently acquired. Did Lee use the arcs parallel to their own back pocket design?
-
@Dr_Heech The funny thing about those Lee's is that they predate the "Diamont Stitching" of the arcs to Levi's up to 5 years, if I'm correct here.
-
@reallypeacedoff thank you! I guess they are just not really part of the repro denim family...
-
Got these wide straight Oni's 200ZR back in 2023, made from 21oz secret denim with that special green cast. they already were soft from the start and became softer even more after one or two washes. I wore em through winter almost everyday until now and love the fact that they still evolve beautiful honeycombs though being already washed and super comfy.

@Dr_Heech I would have thought the photos show the originals, but maybe its a sample garment from the LVCs LVC archive the pair in the link feature flattened an slightly oxidized rivets, they appear to be washed once, the cloth patch show subtle fading, while the jackets button show some wear and some brownish tint next to the button, which could be just dirt or rust from the metal parts. the yoke panels aren't meeting perfectly well, a detail that sugar cane reproduced just recently I guess... and since these are early 1920s repros, when belt loops first appeared with in the Levi's range, it's not unlikely that there had very early versions been made with such details, maybe the pair is a original sample from the era and thus never seen before... anyways I am not an LVC influencer 😀

this Japanese webpage features photos of an archive specimen, featuring those strange belt loops... https://www.wwdjapan.com/articles/2077358
