  1. I love these (and the FH) flannels...but can only wear them for about 3 months of the year. Damn subtropics.

Spent most of my life in Canada, wishing I lived in a warm climate. Now I'm wishing I lived in a cold climate so I could wear jeans and flannels...the wife thinks I'm nuts.

  2. Is there a chance that the pocket placement has changed slightly on the 1101? I recall seeing a size 33 posted in this discussion a long while back that looked different. I don't even notice it on bF.

All this FC talk makes me wanna pull out my 1101s and start wearing them too!

I'm just checking out my xx fabric right now (unworn with one wash), while I love the texture and colour, I don't find it very course...maybe my crazy hot wash stole all the rough stuff!

  3. Posting here after a little side conversation with kss447 in the "Denim Blunders..." thread. I was having difficulty picking between a pair of UES 400T (size 33) and FC 1101xx (size 32), so I ended up getting both. I've decided to wear my 400T as my daily pair and put away the 1101s in the closet for down the road.

Here are some pre/post measurements for anyone interested. I washed at a hot setting (70 degrees), they agitated in the washer for approx 80 min before hang drying in the sun. I didn't take the most thorough pre measurements, but they are all BiG style.

    Pre-wash

    Waist - 34"

    Upper thigh - 13"
    Knee - 9.25"
    Hem - 8.6"

    Post-wash
    Waist - 32.5"
    Front rise - 10.75"
    Back rise - 15"
    Upper thigh - 12.5"
    Knee - 8.75"
    Hem - 8.2"
    Inseam - 30.5"
  4. kss447, given your UES 'challenges' I thought I'd chime in! I couldn't decide between the UES 400T and the FC1101, so I got both ...I put away the FC for a later date. I got a 33 in the UES and 32 in the FC.

Fit is quite similar, but the UES has a bit more generous top block, bit wider knee and has a bit more taper. The FC is a straighter fit for me (30" inseam), with a knee of 8.6" and hem of 8.2".

If you go with FC1101, go size 31. Looks like you might have a tendency to go one size too big? For the FC, if you want a final waist of 16.5", make sure it is 15.5" post soak max. That Zimbabwe cotton will stretch right back out to pre-soak in the waist.

  5. Same size as my 103s, both 33. Honestly I saw Tion's measurements, assumed they were measured BiG style (my fault), and just ordered them without doing enough research first.

Anyone want a fresh pair of UES? Ha.

Ya, must be so frustrating! My measurements are BiG style. I was surprised how much shrinkage I got. I reckon I still could have gone a size down, but they're pretty good now.

  6. Jeez that's too bad man. To be honest, mine didn't look far off what yours looked pre-soak. Which is why I machine washed them at 70degrees, let them tumblr around at scalding temperatures for 90 min. They shrunk a LOT.

Looks like you have a size 33? Did you soak or wash? I think there's a lot of shrinkage left in those. Check my post wash measurements on the last page, no reason you can't get that too. Not much to lose by giving them a ridiculously hot machine wash...you think that'll harm resale value further?

  7. True. These are roomier at the top compared to others I've had (s710, sg1109, PBJ005, Ande Whall Cougar, N&F), so it's more pronounced.

The denim does feel quite substantial, but I just can't get over how comfy they are after only a week.

  8. Got caught in a bit of a rain storm today, which has helped my combs considerably.

Did you find the hips stuck out a bit? How long did it take for that to settle out?

  9. So, after about 5 wears on my 400t, they have become really soft...I mean ridiculously soft and comfortable. But as a result they don't really hold any creases, the combs just done exist. Even if there are some at the end of the day, by morning they are gone. I recall reading similar experiences in the contest thread. Do you find this impacts wear?

  10. Thanks, I'm happy with the fit too. Still unsure about the length, but I think it's alright. I'm more worried that they'll get shorter as the comb creases set in. But I could stretch them out if needed.

    Will keep you posted!

Some odd puckering on the front right pocket - looks like the denim bunched a bit when sewing

Denim close-up. I think I lost a fair bit of indigo in the hot wash, but I still really like the colour.

  12. Here are my pre/post wash measurements of my 400T (size 33). Washed in hot water (70degrees) to get max shrinkage...I'd say I got it...the inseam was a surprise.

    Pre-wash

    Waist - 34

    Front rise - 11

    Back rise - 14.5

    Upper thigh - 13.25

    Mid thigh - 10.75

    Knee - 9.5

    Hem - 8.5

    Inseam - 32.7

    Post-wash

    Waist - 32.5

    Front rise - 10.4

    Upper thigh - 12.5

    Mid thigh - 10

    Knee - 9

    Hem - 8

    Inseam - 29.8

I didn't take MP's advice and request a bit extra length to be on the safe side. I was aiming for a 30.5-30.75 inseam, but was aware that my minimum inseam is a 30. The max inseam shrinkage I've seen on these is around 2", so getting almost a full 3" was a shock.

However, these seem quite starchy and compressed at the moment. It appears as if that crispy-ness will break quite quickly and loosen them up a bit, I think that'll give me some extra length (likely to 30"). I'll post some fit pictures shortly.
