  1. How hard and how long should I stretch after a cold/hot soak...say if I want to try my best to regain the original inseam and/or waist on a pair of samurai s0110xj's? Since they are unsanforized they are going to shrink a crazy amount, I'm aware. I'm tall and like some anti-fit (no skinny or tight fitting denim for me).

After the shrink from the soak...how stubborn is the denim in terms of stretching back out from shrinkage? I've heard that Samurai's stretch the most out of the Japanese repro's...how long should I expect to do house chores before going back out into the world with the fit I prefer?

    Thanks...

  2. And I can dig dude on the matching shit...why NOT coordinate. I think it's a cop out when people do a color top and try to pull it off with white or black kicks...it definitely doesn't look better than a pair of kicks with at least a matching color on them (they don't have to be the single color of the shirt). Here in NYC, we always shit on the kids who run around here thinkin' they are fresh with some loud multi-purple hoodies on while rockin' some black ACG boots...just cause it's "neutral".

Plus purple sneaks go retarded sick with indigo denim.

Matching your tops to your kicks is the way to go...IMHO...it's only OD when you match your kicks with your shirt, hat, and jacket (if you have one) and it's some stupid loud color like yellow or white...you JUST CAN'T wear crazy yellow or royal blue...always end up lookin' like a banana or an overzealous crip. With white...it's just like "wow that's alot of white there buddy"...

  3. Yea...my boy is muslim and half-Paki...it's safe to say that he's pretty much disgusted at how white hipsters and the rest of the trendy soho'ians have tried to adapt the Kafiya (sp?) into their party outfit... I've had a black and white one for years and have rocked it when scarf-weather would hit... he doesn't get mad at my non-muslim, non-mid east self because it's not an act of cornballishness when I do it.

I knew Emaze was a fellow NYC'er...match the kicks with the shirt...only thing is he's missing the patented NYC cuff lol (IMHO something that I need to do as soon as my feet slip into a pair of something).

Diggin' the fit...a few mini-questions...you didn't size up huh? And your first soak was cold...did you go through with a second hot soak? They look like they stretched back out to nicely.

  5. Hot soak them and it will stretch back out because think about it, you aren't going to wash these in a while so they will stretch out crazily in the process. So hot soak them, they might be snug on the nuts for a bit but they will stretch. Don't follow this advice if you do not wish to, but some people will agreez with a z with me.

Thanks...I can diggy...but I assume that the cold soaking will still leave room for a future shrink due to the fact that these are unsanforized?

  6. heBay, if you are going to soak, do it when they are new. If you wear them however many months and they stretch out a few sizes, and then decide to soak them, they will shrink like hell AND all of your wear will be displaced. So either soak now or never, hehe.

Wowsers...thanks...maybe I should have sized up...since they are going to be TIGHT (just how I DON'T like em)...huh? I haven't rocked 'em yet, still got all the tags and are only a few days old

Cold soak for an hour I assume. Should I wear 'em as they dry or just pull 'em a little when I get 'em out the tub?

  7. lol...my bad...a little over-anxious...well they sound organic...

Okay I just checked the site...ha they got a beat on there and all...they definitely look good to me, plus they're just across town from my studio and it definitely isn't too much to ask price-wise...

Ron-E, you have had nothing but good experiences with their service huh?

  8. And if the stretch is not THAT dramatic...yet the unsanforized shrink is...where I may end up with calf and thigh huggers after even a cold water soak (which I DO NOT EVER want)...the other alternative I thought of would be to take the jeans to an organic dry cleaner...but the effects of soaking seem so TOUGH.

Okay, sorry...I know that was a couple of questions in a post and a half...I apologize if this is OD'ing...

  9. I just copped a pair of Samurai Jin's from BIG here in NYC...incredible jeans and service from BIG...but what I've been reading on here recently has been somewhat alarming lol. Is it true that Samurai's shrink a crazy amount (2 inches)? They are indeed unsanforized...which scares me...since I love the way they fit now (although I bought them in my ideal fit, keeping in mind that they stretch alot and that little extra stretch added to the antifit would be kosher as well). I spoke to the people at BIG and they told me that Samurai's are notorious stretchers...therefore the shrinkage after having rocked them for 6+ months will get you back to somewhere near the original size you bought them in.

Does this sound factual to all of my SuFu'ers? The figures they used were "about 1.5-2 inches of stretch after 6 months...then soaking them will get you about 1.5 inches of shrink..." Is that for cold water soak only? Some of the pre and warm-hot water soak photos in the Samurai Contest thread kinda shook me up in the dramatic sizing differences people were pulling off.

  10. Or if anyone just has a DAMNED EFFICIENT AND TRUST-WORTHY regular dry cleaning service that he/she could recommend (Manhattan preferably)...then please let the world know as well...

...I'm just tired of picturing these people carelessly tossing my shirts (and soon denim) into the supersonic spin cycle machine right after I walk out the door with my pick-up slip!!

  11. What's good...

I recently read about the advent of Organic Dry Cleaning spots in GQ and then agaom today in a few SuperDenim threads. Basically, when it comes to your closet...I know most of you do not play around...especially when we're talking something like raw Japanese denim that is well over $200. Right now, I'm kinda suspicious of the current dry cleaning spot I've been going to due to the fact that my gear has been coming back in a "younger" fit...as if they were like "Just throw it in the washer and we'll spray starch it a little bit to get that authentic DRY feeling...!"

I am VERY skeptical of ever throwing them a pair of expensive denim...fearing that the jeans'll come back two sizes smaller.

Anyways...this topic is really made to focus on those who use ORGANIC methods of dry cleaning your gear...therefore avoiding the harmful long-term effects of harsh chemicals on fabric. Do these exist in Manhattan? If so, where??

  12. Yea I did some research and found that I should first pick up a suede cleaning kit (brush + eraser/stone). Then if that doesn't work...move on to suede/nubuck cleaner or even suede shampoo...it should work before going to the shampoo stage...

All gravy in the end...these aren't some crazy $400 limited edition LV x Adidas jawns...they are just the regular classic Campus'...60 cash...I'll just get another pair if it's THAT serious. Supertalk is the best though...good lookin' out SuFu community...

  13. What's good SuFu,

    I'll make this quick...

Was at a show last night...dumb crowded and it got crazy...

People were spilling beer and god knows what else on the floor...

The toe of my kicks got stepped on 9127401297410297 times in an hour...

I was wearing black suede Adidas Campus'...classic shit...

This morning I looked at them in the light and tried to kinda "dust 'em off"...needless to say none of the marks on the suede were removed.

Any suggestions? Is there a special suede shampoo to apply and then suede brush to bring em back to crispiness? Any special suede cleaning methods you guys know about? Should I take em to a shoe repair/cleaner (there's many in NYC)...I'd almost rather not do that...but if that's the best way to do it...I'll obviously rock with it. Suggestions my people?

I copped em just yesterday...so I'd like to not make them my kick-around pair just yet.

    Good looks in advance...peace,

    heBAY

  14. i went to a hick titty bar in up up up state ny.

two actually, they were up the street from each other.

    dollar dances.

    skeevy as hell.

stripper came down and sat on my friends lap and told us how she got people killed

    in binghamton.

and that you have to puncture a person's lungs before you can take their body to the lake.

i was like please god get this crazy bird away from me.

    but yeah.

    good times.

Funny shit upstate...I went to some shit called the Jade-someshit up in Monticello, NY...that shit was hilarious...three jawns were there...one petite Lacey Duvall lookin' chick...one taller and more filled-out (as in well-proportioned...not too thick...just more ass)...and then one mammoth bitch who we thought would tear the pole outta the ceiling and floor everytime she did a spin. The stage actually shook and wobbled (as did the pole obviously). I think the fat one made about $5 dollars on that Saturday night...the rest earned not much more than her (cept for the middle chick who had to ask the manager's permission to give a lapdance to this one dude). They were literally prancing around the bar in their underwear gettin drinks and casually talkin' to people...or sitting on the stage and tellin' people to play a song from the jukebox...yes...insert x-amount of coinage to fill the place with A SONG. When they got on stage to dance, they'd usually go topless...depending on how they felt the song. All the dudes in there were just tryna sell their bullshit weed and coke to everyone else...or at least pose like they were doin that.

Funny shit is...these two white bitches were the stars of the show...they'd go to the bathroom and get skiiiii'd up and then start makin' out and suckin' each other's titties on the side of the stage...shit was a royal mess.

I had a good time tho...shit was entertaining to see...all of it.

  15. Montreal is always a good alternative...

Yea my boy's uncle knows a dude who runs one of those underground spots...you can even beat if you got a stack...or if you're cool with the boss...

Yea I was just wondering if the city had ANY decent spots left...
