  1. I've been wearing these damn 5507's for two months straight now and feel as if I'm getting nowhere. I wear them just as hard as any of my other jeans but am seeing less than desirable results. ugh.... good news it that my stitching is fine.

Two months? Patience... :) Are those 6x6? I have worn my 5507 6x6 about 5 months and can barely see some fading. I bet that after some 18 months they've faded nicely.

  2. Do you mean 03 or 04???

    Thanks Ed.

You like them fitted or loose?

Have you checked the sizing table on his site (ok, I bet you have)?

If you're wearing sz31 in Sams I would take 02 (=31") or 03 (=32") if you like them more relaxed.

  3. Finally got a pair of Tricker's Stows with double leather soles (kind of regretting it now, but what the heck); bought them off eBay from retricker1829. I would take pics but I've only got my phone camera. Does anyone have some useful tips for taking prolonging the life o- leather soles (apart from not wearing them) ?

You can put those metal things in your heel and toe, other that that, there's nothing much you can do. Don't worry, they will last a long time, longer than rubber-ones.

  4. anyone with 710xx's, what is the post soak final measurements of the leg opening?

    waist sz. 30 or 29?

and is there any chance in me finding a new pair these days?

On size 30 the hem is exactly 18cm and thats about 7.1". I've hot soaked mine and after that I did one hot wash in machine before wearing them so I guess not much shrinkage left. Though I've worn them for about 60 - 90 days in total before this measurement... :)

  5. I sized down one size, because I usually want to wear my jeans real slim.

I hardly see any honeycombs, beginning to think that they're "too baggy", well, gonna snap some pictures tomorrow hopefully, it's been awhile

From the picture I would also say that you could easily size down one (more).

But I wouldn't since yours is the best fit I've seen on 3001.

  6. 1908 Red Wings have landed (bought online) - problem I have is deciding if they fit ok - ie don't want to break them in to find they don't get totally comfortable.

My big toes have plenty of air space and there is some slop without tightening the laces right up but my little toes are against the sides of the boot.

Question then is - those of you Red Wing jockeys out there with high mileage... do these sound like they will work out ok or will I find them too small?

I appreciate there is lots of potential for this sounding like a question too far ("only you can tell if they fit not someone on a forum") but my enquiry is more to do with what a virgin Red Wing wearer can expect post-breaking in.

Thanks for entertaining what could just be a ridiculous question!

Can I ask what size did you get? I wear size US10 in Vans and others like that. In Redwings I'm US9 (D). Seems to me that you might have been able to get smaller and wider size? Believe me, it's small annoyance to send them back for exchange than to wear too big boots.

  7. I don't really get the concept of sizing up on jeans that were meant to be slim fitting...but hey, I'm not wearing them! ;) Enjoy them.

I was thinking exactly the same when I read the page before this one.

  8. size 3 down for 710s!? I dont believe u unless u do yoga and u can suck up ur stomach down 3 sizes =p. Doing up the buttons are hard enough before soak and u wanna soak em??? They dont stretch much or at all so if u like marks around ur hips after u wear em then go for it :o

I think he said that he sized down 3 from what he normally wears, not from his true waist. Sizing down 3 from those he bought would be close to his "true" size... :)

The thing is, if people like loose/relaxed jeans why not buy relaxed cut? It's always a bit weird looking when sizing up meant-to-be-fitted-jeans.

  9. Ok, not exactly an unknown brand, but apparently a new model? Anyone seen these? Also, check out the price: About $118 US with tax!

I think I may have to just order them. Any thoughts on the sizing?

I have a pair. Very nice jeans for the price. Just take your normal size or size down one. Denim and color has nice vintage feel on them.

  10. I'm just going by what I've experienced with a few days of wear with other denim.

As for the length, I think I'm a bit paranoid with the sams because my APCs are significantly longer.

    Thanks doooods.

You can wet your jeans (I'd use shower or bucket full of water) and then when they're wet stretch them by stepping on the hem and pull like a motherf*cker. Depending on jeans you can easily stretch them 1" to 2".

  11. haha, I'm 6'2" 170-ish lbs and I also wear a 31 :D

My Skulls have held up pretty well, and I have the Sufu fit. I've had them for a few months... (granted, I've been wearing my APCs more often than the Skulls, given the hot weather)

Are you saying that those are 5010 sz31 on you??

  12. Is he a tool because he's Ashton Kutcher, a famous actor? Or because he's wearing a pair of 875s? If it's the 875s, then how is he different than anyone else who jumped on the RW bandwagon because it's the "cool" boot to not do anything the boot was built for in?

Some stylist (who is most probably reading this forum) made him wear those boots for the photo shoot. I wouldn't call Ashton K. as a actor, more like a product...maybe after some years -he might even have a similar pair of RW's himself too...
