  1. i'm beginning to think the zimbabwe cotton has a thing to do with sharp creases. too soft

I think it's also the weight of the denim (I have absolutely no clue what jeans are you talking about). I have my old Fullcounts and they have worn through on some of the whiskers. All my < 14oz jeans have very sharp creases and the thick ones more round ones.

  2. i'm thinkin about getting the 15oz version... can anyone help me out with sizing? i wear a 30 in sams and FH. thanks.

Size 30 will fit you well. Bear in mind that they are regular cut.

  3. ^^ I've had three cards rejected via Rakuten. Hinoya has sent me an email stating that they don't ship overseas anymore. No rumor as I have had first-hand experience with the above. If you've put an order through to Hinoya, perhaps they've lifted their no-international ship ban. Where are you located, vivaloschet?

I bought a jacket from Hinoya, it was shipped last Friday (yet to come)...

  4. I don't mind the cotton threading but the one thing that annoys me is how my wallet eats it's way through my backpocket! When they start making denim from some more durable materials than cotton. Why dont they mix polyester in denim?

  5. Yeah, I like a lot!

Is it just me but is there something very very manly in the Steam Locomotive, sandbox kind of a way?

"Look, I'm a samurai I have this very sharp sword!"

-"Step aside please, I have a steam locomotive!"

    :)

  6. So got my western shirt today. Obviously still really stiff and that so gonna give it a nice soaking see if any shrinking occurs, hopefully not much.

I thought that the measurements were after wash so now I'm just going to wear my shirt without washing (quite tight as it is, can barely lift me arms).

  7. Also - here's a thought...

It's possible to size down 2 if you are a little chubby...the waistband will be able to squeeze the softer tissue..

But if you are a skinny guy - it's way tougher to squeeze bones...

    Something to keep in mind...

I think the politically correct term would be sizeingly challenged :D

But yeah, I agree totally. If you size down 2, they will stretch a lot because they have to. If you don't size down they don't have to stretch.

Sizing down + chubby (and especially if you're non-teen) always brings in my mind that uncle who is always sweaty and likes to take your kid sister in a barn and touch her in places...

  8. Sizing for redwings/clarks:

I wear UK8.5 in trickers too and got a US9.5 D in redwing 875. As far as clarks dessies go, I wear a UK9. I vaguely remember trying an 8.5 and it being too tight. How do your trickers fit JPGM? and what width do you need? you might find the clarks a squeeze. I couldn't even fit a 9.5 in the desert trek because they are narrow cut.

I wear US10.5 for some or mostly US10 in sneakers. Clark's are UK8 for me, my Redwings are US9D (Good fit, I can put thick socks too) and my Tricker's are UK8.5 and they could be half a size smaller, so I say Trickers and Redwings are pretty similar in length.

  9. i just bought a pair of sd-103's from blue in green and had to watch while they unpicked the pocket stich and cut off the white tag before i could leave with them. fucking brutal. i know they have to do that and it's a cool shop but the white tag and dot thing was cool and nothing like a levi's tag. love these jeans but a tad bummed...

Is it some weird US law they have to do it while customer is present? :)

  10. Sorry happy hoooligan, I wasn't dissing your shoes. I meant that I never had any luck with them as they always fell apart for me, and they are too ubiquitous to appreciate.

As far as UK made ones goes... how long ago did they stop making them here because I was a teen 17-11 years ago so the UK made ones were bad if thats what I was wearing. On the other hand I have fond memories of indestructable monkey boots.

I haven't got any of those new ones, but my friend had this shop that sold them and he used to rant how bad the quality went. They stopped the vegetarian-line also at the same time. I've actually walked with my docs in last millennium and can't really tell how good or bad the are -though I have to say that big part of wearing them was the ideology...

One thing is for sure: Docs are not like good wine (not like bad wine either)... :)
