  1. How do those feel?

I'm working as an AC on a film this summer and I need some good work boots. (I would never wear my aldens on a film set, to much stuff to destroy them) Do they feel good all day?

Comfort wise they are great, you really have to add an insole because that's what they lack, but that's it.

they don't need much breaking in.

In winter they keep my feet real warm even though they're unlined, and in summer i found them still wearable, although warm in temperatures over 22 degrees celcius.

I think a low model of these with the crepe sole, would be even more suitable for summer.

  2. x-posted from the Denime thread-

I recently picked up this 557XX jacket on ebay for cheap.

It's real nice, i can tell it has been washed several times including one time by myself, but the denim has plenty indigo left.

Like it's been said before it really doesn't matter that much with good quality Japanese denim how often you wash it, it'll turn out fine no matter what.

sizing on a size L works great for me, even the sleeves, i was a bit worried about it because i'd heard Denime jackets seem to have relatively short sleeves, but that may be only on the older type jackets which look to fit more boxy.

  4. aren't cats paws discontinued? is there still a way to get some? How much would it cost to have a regular pair of Indies changed to single leather sole with front and heel cats paws? its kind of my dream boot! I believe Mich bought a similar pair from a forum member here? Mich, am i right about this?

After some looking around i found out the leather sole-cat's paws-job on my Indies was done by Eddies shoe repair, 13716 Ventura blvd, Sherman Oaks California, i believe the shop is well known by some here.

I think it'll be virtually impossible to find a cobbler here on the European mainland that would even understand what you mean, let alone getting the job done exactly like you have in mind.

  5. If we don't need them remade, will we get them earlier?

I wanted a 33" inseam, and I'm kinda concerned that the .5" may make a difference. But I'm also like fuck it it probably won't make a difference. I haven't responded to Gordon yet, but it seems like I should.

Gordon said we'll all get them at the same time, so when the longer inseams are in (and hemmed if needed)

I had exactly the same issue, asked for hemming to 36" raw which would leave me with a little under 33" afterwards.

I don't think the 0,5" less is gonna make the difference, so i'm going with the pair that's already in.

The shrinkage also seems less than expected.

  6. Sure i'll wear them more this year Lenn, i also love the way Denime fades, imo one of (if not) THE nicest fading denims around.

I'll consider using a different viewer next time, this was the easiest way of uploading a shitload of pics.

I've finally started to wear my Whites SD. I bought a pair from Bill last summer but left them in the box because i wanted my red wings 875 to wear in first. Although they still hurt my ankles, they do walk great. I can already see some wrinkels appear in the leather. Probably wont apply anything for awhile, didnt do anything to the red wings either.

Right on SLAB, i bought them this way from GregNYC.

I don't know where he got the job done and he doesn't seem very active here anymore.

I believe i remember him saying the job wasn't exactly cheap, somewhere around $150 if i recall correctly.

That must have been pretty hard, keeping those White's caged in for some months!

I'd have to find a cobbler in Europe to do these modifications because I feel the hassle to send it to the USA could cost me dearly (import & export regulations).

I'd also wish i could find a good cobbler with some knowledge of shoe and boot history around here.

Those Indies look so good with a cuban heel coleslawyum.

and Happy Hooligan, i love your Wesco Boss, just awesome.

Chicken, i'm actually considering changing the round laces on my SD to flat ones since i've seen those pics of your gorgeous pair.

These are starting to unravel and come loose pretty quick and i like the look of flat laces in them.

oh, thanks for the +rep guys

  8. ^^^ those were the ones that I'd seen - they look really good. do you get the same comfort that others described without the underslung heel?

I can't compare these to stock SD since i don't own them (yet) but i fully agree with the others that SD are amongst the most comfortable shoes i ever walked on.

They may not look it but they definitely are, it's the stance that does it i think.

To me these feel perfectly balanced so i'm curious how i'll like the regular leather soles in combination with the higher slanted heels.

  9. I'm pretty sure there's some place online you can order the semi dress with a standard heel. I've seen at least 1 picture in this thread with them like that.

Not sure of the link offhand.

Maybe you've seen the pics of my SD, here's what they look like

Unfortunately i can't give you much more info other than that they didn't come stock with these heels.

Another member of this forum had the job done by a cobbler before he sold them to me.

  10. They look great Opeth :)

I really enjoyed our little contest!

Does anyone know how the 51-xx compares to the regular XX (sort of a '47 cut, I guess?)?

The cut is a bit fuller than the regular XX type, especially in the thigh area.

  11. Very very nice, thanks for sharing RB, should be a pretty warm jacket with that wool lining.

So if i am correct, there are at least 3 different versions of the jacket, you own the unlined silk denim one and this one, and the other day i saw one on ebay made from all cotton denim without lining.

  12. They are both Wayvarer IIs and with gold writing on the inside.

It's true that the white ones have a diffrent shape. They fit alot better to.

I'd notice that My White Wayfarer has transparent (nose parts) and the Wayfarer from Mitch to. I want to know if that indicate some thing. Like Year, are a particular collection or something. And could you also tell me if there is any diffrents in gold or not-gold writings inside?

I'm asking sins you guys know more about Glasses then I am.

First of all, i'm far from being an expert on glasses, but to explain the transparent nose parts, it would be my best guess that your white wf's are from an earlier production date than your tortoise coloured ones.

I've come to this conclusion since mine are the wf I and yours are both the wf II, so i'm guesing somewhere along the line they changed the shape and some of the detailling of the wf II.

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong on this assumption.

The shape of the white ones also resembles the wf I's more.

btw, mine have a banana yellow writing inside, you can see it on some letters that haven't faded over time.

  13. Hey guys. Definitely wanting to get in on this SuFu x LS thing, emailed leathersoul asking for sizing advice but I'm sure you guys could help me out on this as well. I wear a 9 in redwings but they're a little too snug so I'm going to say my redwing sizing is 9.5. What size would you recommend I go with for these?

I wear a 9,5 in RW comfortably (with insole) and a snug 8,5 in the Trubalance, so i would go with a 9 in it next time.

So basically i think half a size down from your RW's would be allright.
