  1. I just hope when the denim loosens up the extra fabric in the ass will drop under my crotch, the back rise is so high, I'm wearing them pretty high too.

Me too, i'm also wearing these higher then i'm used to do waiting for them to drape a little better.

They are already starting to soften up after 2 days, Zimbabwean cotton rules!

The paintjob looks great, i like the color.

  2. They're looking great BOF, i love the way darktone denim fades.

Had to wait almost a month for a restock, and I believe they're from the FINAL run of 14oz, non-selvage Frontiers.

Wait, do you mean they're quitting the production of the non-selvage 14oz Frontier?

  3. Thanks to all who repped me!

^yes, looks great Mich! Nice boots, too. What are they?

Like erk already suspected, they're White's sd

they look like white's semi-dress, but i could be wrong.

    Good observation

mich what kind of paint did you use on that?

Plain ole acrylic paint, i applied it with a sewing needle (great tip Bosch)

What kind of arcs are you painting exhausted?

  4. For comparison pre soak pics can be found here

    I gave them a 2 hour hot soak and a 40 degrees C wash.

    pre-soak: waist 35" / inseam 35.5" / thigh 12.5" / knee 10" / hem 8.7" / rise 12"

    post soak: waist 33" / inseam 33" / thigh 12" / knee 9.5" / hem 8" / rise 11.5"

So the waist didn't end up at 32" as i was expecting, maybe with the next washes they'll shrink a bit more, i'm a true 33" waist btw.

Strangely they didn't turn the bathtub all blue, i didn't even need to clean it up afterwards, and they didn't get one bit lighter from the wash, and after a days wear my fingernails also haven't turned blue.

These suckers seem to hold their indigo pretty well.

I painted the FC arcs WWII style going a bit over the pockets like on the S3000 Sams.

  5. SLAB first of all the fit is great!

When uncuffed the lenght is good, but cuffing them makes them a little on the short side, with boots like those RW's or White's that look works great imo.

With sneakers you best wear them without a cuff.

If it bothers you, like's been said just wet them again and stretch the inseam out, how long are you btw? (in cm)

Mine are in the machine as we speak, just soaked them for 2 hours in the hottest water available from the tap.

I'm really curious how they'll come out, especially about the inseam although with 35,5" it's longer to begin with then on your pair.

  6. Mich, I cuffed them a bit more than you pre soak and now I can't/don't need to. But as they become softer maybe they will reach a bit further. At least that's what I'm hoping as I would like to show a little green selvedge too.

Thanks for the info Jay, i'm going to wash them tomorrow so we'll see how short they'll end up, they are .5 inch longer than BiG measured so that's a plus.

i don't feel like having much stacking on these, but a small cuff would be appreciated.

No doubt once they soften up and drape better they'll reach a bit further down.

    That's a great fit Snake.

exhausted, you could have downsized at least one size i think, but i don't know how easy it'll be to exchange these for another size.

They don't look bad, just a looser fit than most have on these.

  7. You'll probably end up having a nicer fit since it looks like you're taller and you won't have to roll them like I did.

well i just don't hope they'll end up too short.

I want to be able to at least make a small cuff, i'll wear em lower than on these pics though.

well we'll see, gonna soak and wash em tomorrow, just sewed the tab in.

  8. Sounds like a nice idea to do around the end of this contest Jan

I think so Dave, i have enough room in the waist left for shrinkage and they don't feel really huge pre-soak,

they should slim down a fair bit with a soak and a wash, i'm going for a similar fit as DP (i hope!)

  9. My pair has been in Dutch customs for four days now, i really don't hope they're gonna screw me up!

Might be a good idea if anyone who posts fit pics, would also mention in the same post what model they are.

Now i'm guessing everytime a see a fit, and checking back through all the posts to see if it has been mentioned earlier by that person, would save some trouble.

  10. The arcs look great H.Bosch

I was also considering painting them this style since i've always liked it on my 1944 LVC's, still on the fence about doing them this way or Evisu style.

Did you cut out the arcs from the stockcard and use a very small paintbrush to do it?

  11. Thanks! Denime fades great from my experience, even when its not the XX denim. Your jacket looks like it has a leather patch as well as a size label. The one I have has a paper label like the original Levi's. Couldn't find any info on your jacket, though. It might be an older model. Nevertheless, the denim looks awesome.

Mine have the leather patch and a white paper sizing label sewed onto the collar., could be from older stock.

I can't say for sure by looking at the pics of your's if the denim is the same, but i do think so as they're both 557's, but aren't these made of the XX denim?

I asked this question on another forum but no one was really sure.

EDIT: nevermind my last question, just read your comment in the jeans jacket thread where you say it's made of XX denim.

  12. They look real good Dave.

coleslawyum, i really love the fading and colour on your jacket.

    those back combs, wow!

I hope mine turns out just as good.

I noticed that the patch on your's seems to be different than on mine, even though they're both 557, mine have the patch you see on the XX type jeans.

the one that shrinks and curls up with washing.

Maybe it's the difference between Japanese and export models, just like the red and blue tab...?
