Yeh i've got a pair of no.1s...they were baggy like hell. It was my first experience with raw selvedged denim...
I've gotten them tailored though to a straighter fit
You probably saw the 0101 cut which is what i got http://www.theredlemonstore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=EM95&Category_Code=EM
And paying $300+ if they're non-selvedge...it should be fine really, if its a good cut and it looks alright...

^^Hang em up, chuck in a pile or just store them neatly on a shelf.
I rkn just chuck in a pile like you drop em when you stop wearing them and just leave it on a shelf. Just make sure when you store them you're not applying any excessive forces to promote stress in the denim.
Noob qeustion: What is anti-fit?

I've got some RRDS and they dont have any crotch rip at all
And I never said I'm going skating...
And yeh i forgot about the Imperials...might go out someday to get a pair. Has anyone tried ripping off one of the pockets? they're kinda oversized if you know what I mean
I was also seriously considering something from Ande Whall after seeing Superstar's fit on them.

Anyone know a pair similar the RRDS?
I'm not into the tapered leg stuff, more a slim top but still slight bootcut at the bottom

i.e. I told my mom how to wash them.
washed them inside out on warm and just hung to dry.
She might have used bleach or too much detergent

Arent greycasts harder to wear into than the selvedge versions?

I am also interested in how possible jean alteration is, since i really would like my sugarcane 47's to be made slimmer and lower rise. I don't want to just buy new ones because mine have arctuates and red tabs, which i like a lot. How possible is it to just slim the legs and lower the back rise?
They can take in the outer and inner inseams. Just ask the tailors and they can show you how they'll take it in.

a 36 waist to a 32 is quite a bit...
Right now I'm trying to tailor a loose cut 0101 to a slimmer cut. I'll see how that goes (pick em up this saturday)

Are there any skinny jeans that are skinny from the knee up but like straight or bootcut from the knee below...
Bit like the RRDSs...
Skinny jeans wont be dead for a long time i reckon. It just depends on body and cultural types.

Ching's one looks fake, the rip with orange/red bits at each end looks wrong
The one in China looks kinda authentic...though I'm not sure coz its from China and its got 0 feedback

I'm just not sure if it is an abrasive in solution
I dont see any harm in adding salt to a soak.
If you think about bacon...its like preserving it in a way.

Salt...
Its a natural abrasive, its also a natural disinfectant.
It also helps with drying as it helps to dry faster. I'm not totally sure how it helps to remove the starch
But I'm guessing the faster drying time reduces the time it allows the starch to sort of crystallise and give its stiffness. So smaller crystals means slightly softer but still stiff denim.
Meh

I just noticed my RRDS are made with Japanese denim and made in Italy.
Awesome.

i was unaware that dirt and grease ate away at denim, either way a quick 5 minute clean is easily achieved using a household dryer
Did you even read it properly? A dryer wont clean it, the dirt and grease particles are still there.
Just give it a warm or cold soak with some salt if you wanna wash them

Put some sodium bicarbonate in a little box and put your jeans near it.

Ok a little chemistry.
Detergents are synthetic and are made from hydrocarbons. Soaps are more natural and are made from animal fats and vegetable oils. Detergents are stronger than soaps.
There are three types of detergents.
Anionic:Your normal dish washing liquid.
Cationic: Used in shampoos, prevents wiring and fuzzing of hair.
Non-ionic: Used in dishwashers as they dont produce many bubbles.
Soaps are made from a combination of animal fats and oils along with sodium hydroxide. Premium soaps only use vegetable oils as animal fats are cheaper to obtain and dont work as well as some vegetable oils. Its possible to home make soaps, just search it up on the net and check what oils you wanna use for as different oils have different properties.
Does anyone know when you're washing the denim, if its bubbling a lot? If not its probably a non-ionic type

first post, excuse me if im doing something wrong, but i believe this is the right place.
just thought id introduce my slimjims, 5 months no wash. had to patch up some nasty crotch-hole business. im wondering if this is a common nudie thing or just my bad karma? happened to a friend of mine too..
Happens to all denim. Just depends on the way you wear and the cut of the denim.

Put them inside a box...like a shoe box.
And have some packets sodium carbonate (bicarb soda) inside there. It'll absorb the smell.
