  1. I also think it tastes like vinegar, especially the green one. My wife just wanted to know because there are a ton of weirdos on here and one is bound to have a mother.

A mother or scoby (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) is what creates the kombucha essentially. It has babys that then become mothers which create their own kombuchas. Wikipedia it.

  2. I think I'll start a pictures only thread for judging submissions. You put pictures up on your end day and we'll have a last call of say March 31st. If you want your pair judged and you got them after that date, post pictures before then.

I have until the 5th of Feb and I'm done with my year.

  3. Denim Phenom

the White cougars are on a Northwest last and have a flat sole, they don't have the typical arch support.

I plan to buy a pair (not anytime soon) myself with a vibram 2021 sole. They will probably be very comfortable, i just hope they won't look like i'm wearing bob the builders shoes :D

I need a leather sample or at least a picture of all the leather samples they have before I decide on which to use. It's really overwhelming.

  4. It was mostly just a probing question on my part. The reason I asked is because Gordon and I still haven't decided on the prizes for the three winners. I know that first prize is a pair of jeans but nothing much has changed since I last reported that.

  5. All prices are non-negotiable. If you don't plan on paying the amount listed, don't message me.

All prices are shipped in the US, add an additional $10 for outside of the US shipping.

There really isn't anything i'm interested so no trades.

    Regular Alden 405s, 9D, $200

Owned since Nov 07, worn for about 1 1/2 years, stopped wearing them sometime last year. Small scuff on left shoe, left side. You can see it in the close up.

  6. Does anyone have experience with the White's Cougar? Baker shoes sells them and I think I might sell my 3 Indys and get some of those.

I wore an 8.5D in the SD though I think they are on a different last. I'll have to call them anyway since there are so many options.

  7. x-post from the Raw for Woe Mans thread.

My wife bought these RRLs about two years ago and wear them for most of the week. She's washed them over 10 times, usually in the wash machine. They were sent out to HTC recently to be repaired but that's about it.

She loves the fact that she can better fade a pair of jeans than I can.

I believe these are the straight version for women.

  9. can someone (demonito) what is the advantage of different soles? ive seen cats paw and heard of it on here but dont know anything about those. i have alden indys if that means anything

Coleslaw gave the PC story on these soles but this is the realistic story.

Bill shed light on these soles a couple years back and everyone drank gallons upon gallons of the Cats Paw Kool-Aid. Scene points were amassed while the soles couldn't keep up.

Soles that are 50+ years old won't last and you'll spend more money trying to look cool vice spending the money on a sole that will hold up to the oh so gentle suburban life we put these things through.

The sole on your Indy's will last you long enough and there isn't anything wrong with them. Save the money. I have a pair of Ultimate Indy's with a lug sole and I like the cork sole better.

I'm sure tmadd will neg rep me for this since he says I never offer anything good to this thread.
