1. hi blackgrass -

they aren't fakes, but they also aren't "LVC." LVC stands for Levi's Vintage Clothing and is a different line than "Levi's Premium," which is what you bought. the seller says LVC, but he also notes that they are Premium, which is confusing... he also says "big E era" and "1950-1960 style," but not that they are, in fact, big E jeans, or a reproduction of a particular year.

that said, they are made of selvage denim and the pre-distressing looks pretty minor. i'd wear them like you'd wear a pair of dry jeans. you won't get as much color contrast because they're pre-washed, but they also won't shrink too much on you when you do wash them...

hope that helps!

2. dogs,

i'm guessing the problem isn't that you're swearing too much, per se...

it's that your patterns of cussing are likely staid; you're in a swearing funk, if you will.

you just need to get creative with your cursing. sign up for one of those word-of-the-day email listservs and endeavor to combine said word with your favorite swears each day.

make use of creative hyphenation.

make up your own foul-mouthed portmanteaus.

done properly, swearing enriches anyone's vocabulary, and you need to make your friends and family appreciate this fact.

but they're right: if you're just using "fuck" as a filler, a la "um," "er," or "like," then you just sound like an ignorant, potty-mouthed fucktard.

good luck and godspeed.

3. on a semi-related note, does anyone know of a somewhat reliable way to estimate denim weight after the fact? like, say, i have a pair of jeans that are old favorites, and i like the weight of the denim... is there a way to measure threads per inch - or something along those lines - and be able to say, "these jeans are made of 15.5oz denim, approximately?"

Does anyone have pictures of repaired denim?

dilemma - i posted some photos here: [url=" http://www.superfuture.com/city/supertalk/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=8838"] http://www.superfuture.com/city/supertalk/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=8838

thibbs - take them to a tailor. for $5 or $10 you'll get much better results than you will at home (unless you've got a sweet sewing machine set-up).

Fergie wore extremely tapered/slim jeans in the "my humps" video, and I had a hard-on for weeks! So, go for it!

6. the crotch will blow in that exact spot on any pair of jeans if they're worn tight... you need to keep an eye on it before it actually tears, and take them to your tailor when that area next to the seam gets thin. even with it torn at this point, any tailor worth their salt will fix that no problem and it'll barely be noticable (unless you've got some extreme seating posture...). here are a few pictures of cheapo levis i had repaired when they failed at the same spot - the crotch is now stronger than when they were new:

7. guffer - your raw dukes are 34s, right? what do they measure across the waist? (i'm having a hell of a time deciding between the 32s and 34s... lots of contradictory info out there...)

what do you mean? are you talking about if your selvage is curled/folded the wrong way? (from seeing it in the picture?) will the steam/heat from an iron mess up dry denim?

info takes a while to get back to emails. he will email you if he has your jeans. if he doesn't he'll wait until he has more information about it.

if you want some nice, uniform railroad tracks to fade in along the outside seam, it's a good idea to press the selvage flat on a brand new pair of jeans. i've never had problems with the steam or heat messing up dry denim (no indigo has bled onto the ironing board). i've even repressed selvage on jeans that have been worn for a long time - you just need to be careful near the honeycombs/creases to preserve them.
9. long time reader, first time poster, blah blah blah.

i have a friend leaving for bangkok next weekend and i'm planning on enlisting her in finding me some new denim. have used the search button to not much success... jatujak market / chatuchak market / jj market / mochit seems to be one spot. anywhere else?
