  1. i don't celebrate this holiday.

    because:

    a.) you don't live in the united states;

    b.) you work in the service industry and have to work every goddamned federal holiday;

    or

c.) you're taking a stand of some sort?

  2. some of the best food i had here were the ones I cooked personally.

this should be true for pretty much everyone. buy some cookbooks (this is honestly one area where teh internets can't compete) and try new things. figure out what you like and have fun. sign up for a CSA with farm. drop by your local fish or meat market.

food doesn't have to be expensive to be good, and you don't need to be ferran adria to cook a great meal.

and lastly, have you ever seen the inside of a chili's or an applebee's kitchen? every entree they serve, excepting hamburgers (pastas, chicken, pork, etc.), is prepared off-site in some massive factory, vacuum-sealed, then boiled on site to temp. it's very consistent, and it's very boring...

  3. Welcome to Niketalk c. 2002

This was all over the internet and never happened.

as someone who's never been to niketalk and owns exactly one pair of nikes (soccer cleats), i apologize for being so tardy.

i do like back to the future, however, and i will be the first to welcome our new auto-lacing shoe overlords should they deign to arrive ~2015.

  4. The BEST burger would have to be from a spot called Czehoski's.

    From the menu:

An Exercise in Bourgeoise Decadence (the second most expensive - but most ridiculous - burger in town) Organic sirloin beef and bison mixed with green peppercorns and topped with Italian black truffle, porcinis, dijon, rosemary and espellette pepper, braised organic short ribs, endive, tomatoes, smoked bacon, fairly secret sauce (saupiquet with foie gras), capers, pure gold, and foie gras on a toasted sesame seed bun.

i'm sorry, but this is an absolute waste of fine and expensive ingredients.

a stellar burger is not made by stacking diamonds on top of platinum on top of gold on top of silver...

Now the BIGGEST burger I ever had....Dangerous Dan's.

    From the menu:

    http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com

    Quadruple C

    "Collosal Colon Clogger Combo"

24oz burger served with a quarter pound of cheese, a quarter pound of bacon, and 2 fried eggs. Also comes with a large shake (flavor of your choice) and a small poutine.

    Only $ 22.99

    (ghetto) ibid.

  5. there's a burger place in seattle called, "red mill" which is awesome.

also dick's is a local favorite.

miss the west coast for burgers. and hot multi-ethnic women.

and the west coast misses you, miz. ;)

    portland burgers:

    1.) le pigeon

    2.) slow bar

    3.) castagna

    fast food honorable mention: burgerville

  6. Quick question about dry denim. Apparently its okay for you to soak it for a few hours first? I just purchased the levis 1947, I am wondering if soaking it will screw up the indigo so I won't be able to break it in. Can anyone w/ experience help me out here?

nothing short of bleaching them repeatedly will "screw up the indigo so [you] won't be able to break it in."

the first post in the superdenim encyclopaedia has links to many many discussions on washing, soaking, &c.

  7. well shit! maybe it's distributed here, too? i haven't even bothered looking for it in the last several years (have only had it in nicaragua and costa rica), but a quick googling makes it look like it's possible...

there are a few white rums and several darks available in central america -- not sure what you can get in WA.

  8. Which one will you guys choose ? will you guys choose the nice limited denim ? or those limited edition kicks ? you make the choice...

    why isn't this a poll?

and why isn't "intercourse" an option?
