  1. verver there is something wrong with taht tie

nothing wrong with the tie except for the length (it should be closer to your belt line). otherwise, that's a very nicely tied half-windsor :)

in general, i like the top half a lot, but the bottom half (shoes and cuff, in particular) ruins it for me.

  2. the rise on the 660 is a whole inch higher though

well, 3/4" to 1" depending on size.

my guess is that they'll be worn at about the same place on your hips, though.

at least i hope so... i picked my 660 size based off measurements of my somets, which are about the same rise as xx-005s...

  3. I'm starting to worry a bit about my size selection. More so bc I asked to have them hemmed to a 34 in. length for a post wash measurement. Obviously I'm fairly sure this voids my chance for an exchange on sizes. I ordered a 30 in. waist yet I'm thinking I may have to go with a 29. So if anyone decides they may need to size up from a 29 stay in touch!

uh... they haven't cut your pants yet, friendo. just email gordon and ask him not to hem them ;)

  4. i imagine they're measuring a large, but i wouldn't even know how they measure, as most athletic-styled outerwear has very few straight lines, especially around the shoulder...

the impulse looks to be more of a short jacket with a packaway hood, though -- not a true rain shell, which is usually a bit longer.

  5. Snuggle, I see a lot of bikes without any breaks at all and I always wondered how they stop. I think these bikes look really cool, but don't understand how they stop. Do people just use their feet against the tire or something? Sorry it may be a stupid question

Lastemp3ror - this wikipedia article should explain everything for you.

  6. most store owners (even those as accommodating as gordon) don't really want to give up storage space for stock they're actually selling to sit on 200+ pairs of jeans just to take care of our denim contest paranoia about someone getting a head start...

  7. I love how the rear brake is photoshopped off the bike, but the friggin hood is still there, making it look retarded. Wow, you're EXTRA cool when you ride a fixie with 2 brakes, but then photoshop them off!

dummy brake hoods are pretty common, actually, cmyke. if you're riding with a front brake only and you're using a traditional road lever, having a dummy hood on the opposite side gives you a third option for hand placement (tops, drops and hoods). you'll also notice that there are no cable stops or guides leading to the rear brake boss, so it's unlikely the frame is even able to accommodate a rear brake w/o zip ties and tapping a hole in the frame...

  8. How about one in...january? We can all walk around in the rain and then drown our sorrows with some rogue? The seattleites could come down and we could have a dress off and play grab ass.

sweet. january gives me plenty of time to pack on the wintertime fat-belt...

    i'm in.

  9. This isn't that related, but while we're on the topic of wayfarers, maybe someone can help me out. What's the difference between the models 2113 and 2140? I know there's Wayfarers and Wayfarer IIs, but I think IIs have a totally different model #...

2113's are discontinued, though there is still stock available. they have flex temples, and i believe the glasses are slightly smaller than the originals (probably along the same design lines as the wayfarer 2?).

  10. where can i get these rereleases? they're black right?

they come in lots of colors, actually: black, tortoise, red, white; polarized or non-polarized lenses.

    just google "ray-ban 2140" or "rb2140."

most people will probably want the 50mm size, but they also come in 54mm.

  11. Just thought can you not splash out a bit extra on the lenses themselves and them ... I can't remember the process... but they make "thick prescription" lenses thinner...

dino - what rira is referring to are "high index" lenses. your optician should be able to talk to you about them at some length.

it's kinna a waste to put diff. lenses in wayfarers. the frame isn't all that great usually ppl give rayban cred 4 their optics.

rayban, like any other large company, has a range of quality. they've reissued the original wayfarer this year: model 2140, hand made in italy, and worth every penny at ~$100.

  12. How is the quality on somets? They hold up for long?

imo, yes. the denim is pretty burly (fine yarn + tight weave). the usual all-cotton stitching issues exist, though.
